  1. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 27, 2009 -> 03:49 PM) You'd take Alvarez in a second over Beckham? Really? Without even thinking that hard. I like Beckham a lot. But Alvarez simply has a better all-around skill-set. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 27, 2009 -> 03:57 PM) I think there's quite a few teams out there that would re-evaluate letting G. Beckham fall to 8 in that draft. His stock has risen higher than anyone's. Personally, I'll keep slayer over making a move for a guy who is at best 3 years away. LOL. At best 2012, huh? Did you just come up with that yourself? He'll be up by 2010 at the latest.
  2. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 27, 2009 -> 11:14 PM) Carlos Zambrano is hilarious. Awesome how Lou is talking about how Carlos needs to "tone it down." Fatass hypocrite needs to look in the mirror.
  3. QUOTE (Kalapse @ May 27, 2009 -> 05:50 PM) Josh Hamilton and his 6 HR, .791 OPS is a leading vote getter in the outfield. Shockingly Matty, Casey and Hart have no problem with this on the MLBN. JJ Hardy in the NL? Really? At one point do we just start ignoring this bulls*** game altogether? That point came when MLB made the despicable decision to award something as critical as homefield advantage to the winning league.
  4. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 27, 2009 -> 11:45 PM) Nuggets played themselves out of the game tonight. Too many dumb shots. They're a stupid team. Led by a pretty stupid coach.
  5. QUOTE (Felix @ May 27, 2009 -> 05:08 PM) I really, really, really, really hope Beckham doesn't come up this season. Tell me about it. This is a f***ing joke. The pressure on this kid will be immense once he's called up.
  6. QUOTE (lostfan @ May 27, 2009 -> 05:09 PM) Neither could Jordan. That's obvious. But let's keep in mind that the Bulls were something like 30-0 in series in which they had the HC advantage during the Jordan era (I.E. they never lost to a team they shouldn't have lost to). And this isn't aimed at you, but I don't want to hear any of this crap of how all of a sudden Lebron doesn't have a supporting cast. You can play that card with D-Wade. The Cavs won 66 games. They went 39-2 at home. They won their first 8 playoff games by an average of 15 PPG or whatever it was. That wasn't all Lebron. Everything had been peaches and cream for them all season long. And when KG went down, it was all but assumed they had the east wrapped up. Now that they've been challenged, they've just about crumbled. And that falls on Lebron just as it does Mike Brown, their coaching staff and the other players. It's easy to look like a great leader when you're winning. True leadership comes when you can survive adversity, turmoil, ect. Doesn't look like Lebron is quite there yet.
  7. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 27, 2009 -> 02:44 PM) If you want to know who KW is really targeting, I would take a look at Dan Haren in AZ. The Dbacks are 11 games back and they will sell off some of those guys. We are in a position to give them 2 sp's in Poreda and Richard and some minor league players for Haren if need be. He is a guy I would like to target. 2007: 3.07 ERA 1.21 WHIP 2008: 3.33 ERA 1.13 WHIP 2009: 2.57 ERA .90 WHIP Salary: 2009: 7.5 2010:8.25 2011:12.75 2012:12.75 2013: 15.5 team option or 3.5 million buyout Thats not a bad commitment. One could make a pretty solid argument that he's better than Peavy.
  8. 3.60 K/9, 7.88 BB/9, 0.46 K/BB NO THANK YOU! Give me Lance Broadway or Kyle McCulloch over this failed turd.
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 27, 2009 -> 02:09 PM) Just think, a few more losses and we could have been holding Pedro Alvarez and his .784 OPS in high A ball. Pretty sure you're being sarcastic. But I'd take Alvarez in a second over Beckham. Dumbass Javy went Zack Greinke down the stretch that year and pretty much single-handedly eliminated any chance of us landing him.
  10. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 27, 2009 -> 08:55 AM) I love it. I've had someone pounding down my door for Victor Martinez, and I told him the moment I heard this news he'd be on the table. So, now that Wieters will be called up, I have him. I sent off Victor Martinez, Vernon Wells, and CC Sabathia (I also have Matt Cain, Dan Haren, Johan Santana, Mark Buehrle, John Danks). I got back Adrian Gonzalez and Ryan Braun. We'll see how Wieters hits, but this is awesome news. Um, you straight butt-f***ed whoever that was in that deal.
  11. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ May 27, 2009 -> 11:01 AM) yeah, but look at the Barons, that should make you somewhat happy! Also with the 4 picks coming up in the draft the Sox have a chance to be deep real quick, and if we know KW, those are ALL trading pawns!!! Seriously, I hope KW has the opportunity to take one or two guys who dropped due to signability and just crush this draft. I'm cautiously optimistic about our prospects at AA. Like the saying goes...Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice (or in the case of a highly touted White Sox prospect, it's more like fool me 150 times) shame on me.
  12. He's still young enough to turn it around. And the skill-set is still there. But yeah, he's been god awful this year.
  13. QUOTE (WhiteSoxfan1986 @ May 27, 2009 -> 12:49 AM) Tillman will be up later this year, and Matusz and Arietta should folllow in 2010. They could end up being pretty dangerous, especially if they keep getting what they are out of Rich Hill. They say green is the color of envy? Well call me Oscar the f***ing Grouch. The O's have a chance to be pretty special in the next 2-3 years.
  14. QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ May 27, 2009 -> 12:40 AM) mlb.com, check the gameday and video highlights on the right the angels announcers were going bats*** crazy over the sox defense, and it was awesome to hear and see http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/gameday/index.jsp?g...chamlb_anamlb_1 Thanks. The D has been so bad to this point. Will be nice to see some 2005-style D for once.
  15. I caught the last two outs. Hawk and Stoney were raving about the defense. Was it that good? Damn shame that with the game being on WCIU that there won't be a replay.
  16. Jordan's BABIP has to be well over .400. That's simply not going to last. Will see where he is a month or so from now.
  17. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ May 26, 2009 -> 10:52 PM) I have no horse in the playoffs but I was hoping the Cavs would make it because I felt they had a better chance at knocking off the Lakers...could the Magic beat the Lakers? Doubtful. They did take both regular season games. The Magic just matchup extremely well with Cleveland. Makes you wonder how tough they'd be now with a healthy Jameer Nelson (although Rafer Alston wouldn't have been acquired).
  18. Greinke can go .500 with an ERA of 4 or so the rest of the season and he still might get the CY. What we're witnessing from him has now entered the land of historic.
  19. QUOTE (Kalapse @ May 26, 2009 -> 07:19 PM) Matt Wieters is getting the call. He'll be up for Friday's game vs the Tigers. Can't wait to see him in action. Jones, Markakis and now Wieters. That's not a bad 3-some to build around.
  20. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 26, 2009 -> 01:07 PM) It's much, much dumber. Josh Vitters in 20 years old. He's also their only prospect. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 26, 2009 -> 01:30 PM) Except Beckham is in AA and Vitters is in LOW A Well from the Cubs' viewpoint they're going to be without Ramirez for quite a while and Fotenot is bad at baseball. So they're pretty desperate right now. We're just looking for a quick fix because Josh has struggled. I agree that Josh has been terrible. But it's not time to give up on him before we've even hit June.
  21. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ May 26, 2009 -> 11:30 AM) It does speak for itself. He's taken 3 different teams to the conference finals, and has the Denver freaking Nuggets 2 wins from the NBA Finals. I'm not sure why you imply he can't win big games because that premise is false. Yeah he doesn't have a ring, but he's not an idiot either. 62-83 was his career playoff record coming into these playoffs. That, well, that sucks. Taking 3 teams to the conference finals in all the years he's been around is nothing to really get loud about. Denver blew this series on Saturday (awesome when your players can't execute a simple inbounds pass).
  22. QUOTE (qwerty @ May 26, 2009 -> 04:54 AM) Danny richar broke up clay buchholz's no hitter in the ninth inning of their aaa game this past night. I found this interesting. I think it's safe to say Buchholz has nothing left to prove at the minor league level.
  23. QUOTE (Wanne @ May 26, 2009 -> 11:18 AM) That is an abolute JOKE! Somebody needs to explain that one...plus how the Big 12 got 8 teams in. It's just like in college hoops. They obsess over RPI and SOS. I think they did a pretty good job overall, though.
  24. Cubs fans clamoring for Josh Vitters. "He can't be worse than what we have now." Almost as dumb as Sox fans who want Beckham up. God damn I'm glad fans in no way shape or form have a say so in how a club is run.
  25. Prezz 1 if you would poke this. 1111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111 11111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111 11111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111
