  1. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 09:33 PM) The Yankees simply cannot beat the Red Sox. It's amazing to watch. This is what happens when well-run moneyball meets too much money...ball. It's amazing the turn of events that have taken place since the Yankees went up 3-0 in the 2004 ALCS. They've been the Red Sox's whore ever since.
  2. QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 11:00 PM) I am indifferent. I can't cheer for either team. I'm like you, man. But that is inexcusable. You should cheer for absolutely anything that helps the Sox. I hope the Cubs sweep.
  3. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 11:24 PM) If Dwight Howard makes 1 of those 2 FT's when we're up by 5, it's 2-2. So damn disheartened right now. I know he won't do it, but if I'm Stan Van Gundy, I'm throwing Dwight's ass under the bus just as he did to him earlier in the playoffs. Tonight was a perfect example of why any coach would be hesitate to consistently feed Dwight down-low at the end of a close game. One, he's not an ISO player, ala Tim Duncan or Hakeem Olajuwon. Hell, his offensive game isn't anywhere close to being as advanced as Shaq's. And obviously he's a bad FT shooter. And don't let Gonzo aka Hedo off the hook.
  4. QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ Jun 10, 2009 -> 02:09 AM) No, he doesn't. He dips his head several inches when he swings, which opens up a ton of holes. I hate to be pessimistic, but you most likely just saw his scouting video today and know next to nothing about him, so being "extremely pissed" is pretty laughable. Look, it's great that everyone here is following the draft, but let's be honest with ourselves, none of us are scouts. It's silly to be worked up about this because none of us has a goddamn clue about who is better than who because anyone can read BA and watch advanced scouting videos. It's simply asinine for anyone on this board to say such and such a team had a better draft than us because you simply have a limited knowledge of something that teams have put thousands of manhours in to. Save yourself the disappointment and wait a year to start handing out grades and complaining. +10 I've (and I'd put good money on this being the case for pretty much anybody else here) never even heard of guys like Holmberg and Morgado. Let alone seen them play. I'm certainly not going to let whatever 30 second videos any dope with a computer can look at and come to a conclusion whether the guy was worthy of being drafted or not. As many as 1500 players are drafted every year. More than half of them (and that's me being conservative) won't sniff the majors. So to go apes*** whenever a guy is drafted that you don't deem worthy (and again don't know s*** about anyway) is pretty damn pathetic.
  5. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 09:46 PM) I love the Peghley pick. It's a terrible pick if he doesn't stick at catcher.
  6. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 08:10 PM) Diamondbacks. They're right there. But a lot of their young studs currently on the ML team, outside of Upton, have yet to make an impact.
  7. I can't think of two teams better positioned to dominate for the next 5-7 years than the Orioles and Rangers.
  8. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 08:05 PM) I wouldn't mind if we drafted another 1 or 2 catchers in the first 10 rounds... We could use some more good ones in the system. Scheppers and Heckathorn still on the board... I'm kinda scared regarding Scheppers. I can't believe he's lasted this long. NM. If he's healthy, the Rangers got a steal. Good lord that team is OVERf***INGFLOWING with legitimate pitching prospects.
  9. Really nice pick by the Angels.
  10. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 07:56 PM) I'm on the Heckathorn wagon now. Wow, The D-Backs are doing awesome. Nothing new for them.
  11. Man oh f***in' man if we can nab Brothers.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 07:43 PM) My MLB draft tracker isn't working...anyone else with this problem? Same here. Mine died after the Cubs took Jackson. Edit: It's fine now.
  13. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 07:42 PM) I actually like the pick. Its really up to Buddy Bell to clean up his swing a bit, and to move him into CF. In the late first round, I would rather get a guy who can project than a safe pick. Good job. Now lets keep loading up. It's like you have to remind some people what the minor leagues are for.
  14. QUOTE (Sox1422 @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 07:13 AM) Good. Now bring up Danks and Viciedo for Wise and Fields. No and HELL NO! I'm all for an infusion of youth. But you don't call up that youth just for kicks. Both Danks and Viciedo have a ways to go before they should even sniff Chicago. I still don't think Beckham should've been called up. And we see how splendidly that's going right now.
  15. QUOTE (Wanne @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 01:50 AM) Wow...you sure told us. I guess you know what it's like to never know when you're gonna get consistant at bats. So you're ok with trotting Wise out there?!? Oh wait...you want to magically acquire Torri Hunter or somebody? BA's the best option out there....THAT'S what people are saying if you could get off your soap box long enough to see it. What's your solution there Kenny Jr.?!?...you seem to have a ton of answers. Yeah, I just love to slurp me some Dweezy. THEY BOTH SUCK! At least as every day players. When Wise sucks, he just sucks. When Anderson sucks, it's always some lame excuse or Ozzie is the devil crap. That was cute in 2006. And I was one that vehemently defended Brian that year. It's 2009 now. He is what he is. My solution? It sure as hell isn't giving a guy with a career line of .224/.284/.369/.653, who's 0 for his last 19, the every day job. And I'm glad Ozzie doesn't feel obliged to do that. We have the worst CF situation in baseball. Our only bet is that CQ gets back (and actually stays healthy for the remainder of the season) and we move Pods to CF.
  16. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 10:28 PM) Hey, remember that time when BA was hitting really well, and then Wise came back and we forced BA into a platoon that he had no business being in? Yeah, those were good times. When was he hitting "really well?" A single every now and then? Maybe one multi-hit game a week? He's got a whopping 5 extra basehits this year. D-Wise is not the reason that Brian isn't, and never has been, a legitimate everyday major leaguer.
  17. QUOTE (Wanne @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 10:22 PM) Be nice if BA got some consistant playing time.... Can we please stop with this tired ass excuse? Brian Anderson is a terrible f***ing hitter. That's the end of it. He's turned out to be a bust of a first round draft pick. One of many we've had this decade. Time to except that reality and stop blaming Ozzie. "OH MY GOD! IF BRIAN JUST GOT MORE AT BATS HE'D BE SO MUCH BETTER!" There's a reason you've got 4th outfielders and utility infielders. That's because those guys aren't good enough to play everyday. Which is fine. Problem is there isn't one aspect of offense that Brian is good at. He can't hit LH pitching. He can't hit breaking balls. He's got a career BB/KK ratio of 55/184. So there goes pitch recognition and plate discipline. He's got decent speed. But you can't put that to use when you're never on base. His only value to this team is as a backup OF/pinch runner. And don't give me the "change of scenery crap." How's that worked for Felix Pie? You either have the talent or you don't. And Brian doesn't have it.
  18. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 10:42 PM) They just showed Andrew McCutchen's two triples on SC....that f*** is fast. He might be the fastest player in the majors. 50+ steals should be a cinch for this guy. And here's his line since his promotion last week: .400/.423/1.023. That, my friends, is what you call making an immediate impact. Hopefully Sox fans will see this from a top prospect sometime before 2025.
  19. QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 10:26 PM) To be honest, I'm more of a Mitchell fan than most on this board that I have read. I wouldn't be terribly upset with the pick. I think he fits nicely into the possibility of the CF leadoff role, almost in line with Allen, Flowers, Danks, Beckham, Retherford's timetable. I like him too. Hard not to drool over the athleticism/speed combo. The concerns are legitimate. And that's what the minor leagues are for. This isn't the NBA/NFL where all first rounders are expected to contribute the next season (which is the main reason the MLB draft will never be as big as the NFL/NBA drafts. But that's another subject altogether). Whoever we draft at #23 won't see the big leagues until probably 2011 at the absolute earliest.
  20. Blah, this makes the first loss today hurt even more. Splendid performance by Jose.
  21. Pod's average up to .308. OBP has to be at least .360.
  22. Pods better not go anywhere once CQ gets back.
  23. QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 07:21 PM) Bonderman's fastball is lifeless compared to what it used to be. Jeremy Bonderman meet Francisco Liriano.
