  1. Damn, the Giants are choking on a fat one. Eagles/Cards NFC title game? lol. And why did they try and run it with Manning on that last 4th and 1? They've had by far their most success running the ball with Jacobs to the right side behind Snee/McKenzie.
  2. Kevin Curtis should be executed. How did he botch that ball?
  3. QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Jan 11, 2009 -> 01:30 PM) Good luck to the 10,000 other college football players that are hoping for any attention now that Colt McCoy and Tim Tebow are coming back. Whatever. At least we're all better people now.
  4. It's amazing to me how one team can totally DOMINATE the other yet still trail. The Giants (even with Eli looking like Bad Rex) have outplayed the Eagles in every way imaginable.
  5. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jan 10, 2009 -> 07:29 PM) The biggest play of the game (the 3rd and long pass to Heap on the last drive) should have been a delay of game, and the fact a missed call was such a key factor in a playoff game is a shame. I'm still also curious as to if Flacco stayed in bounds when he rolled out at the very back of the end zone on a 3rd and long pass play before Baltimore punted in the 4th quarter. However, at the end of the day, Tennessee had 3 giveaways (one at the Baltimore 32, another at the Baltimore 17, and a third at the Baltimore 6) zero takeaways, and 12 penalties. You have nobody to blame but yourself when you put up those numbers and lose a playoff game. Pretty much my thoughts. The Titans dominated this game every which way except where it counts. I picked the Ravens to get to the SB. I'll stick with them. But I'm considerably less impressed by them after today's game. They really had no business winning. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jan 10, 2009 -> 08:51 PM) Go Cards! Imagine a Chargers/Cardinals SB. Who would have thunk it in week 14? Cards are making a believer outta me. We all knew they could throw the ball (Larry Fitzgerald is from another planet not called earth). But their running game is getting better by the week. Their D in the last two weeks has locked up 2 of the top 3 RBs in the NFC, and has been stifling overall.
  6. QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Jan 6, 2009 -> 02:21 PM) Jordan, great work. I'm glad you got the results you were hoping for. Let me add that you did it at the most difficult time during the holidays. That's nothing to sniff at. As for me, I finished the year down 111 pounds (I started on Jan 5). After hitting the 95 pound mark by the end of September, I had higher hopes. But doing a realistic evaluation, I can't be anything but pleased. I didn't lose at the same pace as before, but I didn't go backwards. Moving into 2009, I have to figure out where to go. I have no set specific goal as of this time, but I'll come up with one. I am seriously considering training for a half marathon in Nashville in April. We'll see how the next couple of weeks go and if I can get on a regular training schedule. Congrats to all who made progress and mucho encouragement to those that want to start in 2009. If I can be of help to anyone, please do not hesitate to PM me. Thanks, Rex. You have been a VERY big help. And you ain't lyin' about how much tougher it was getting this done during the holiday season. But that's where sacrifice/dedication comes in. Obviously, I'm thrilled about the weight loss. But besides that, I just can't believe how good I feel. I have so much more energy and bounce in my step since I started my program. Even my nephew called me Sonic the Hedgehog the other day. But like I said before, this is going to be a permanent lifestyle change. No going back. Even when I do get to 170. Gone are the days of sleeping until 2 in the afternoon because I drank so much the previous night. Gone are the days of eating damn near an entire Pizza Hut meat lovers Pizza and barely being able to walk afterwards. Oh, I'm going to shoot some delicious, healthy, nutritious smoothie/shake recipes I was given your way through PM. They're extremely easy to make. They can be used for either meal-replacement or a snack. There's this one chocolate/peanut butter shake that I've made a couple times. It's absolutely filthy delicious. Anybody from the club that's interested can just hit me up in PM and I'll be happy to give you the 411.
  7. Can you say dumbass? At least when Pete Carroll said the exact same thing it had some validity.
  8. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 6, 2009 -> 03:47 AM) We still don't have a ton of depth but I can't remember the last time our top 4 prospects have had that much potential. Definite upgrade over last season. We're certainly not the Rangers or Marlins. But we've taken a big step up the last couple years. The last two drafts have been pretty good (I can't stress how glad I am that Duane Shaffer and the rest of those bums are gone). I'm really looking forward to seeing how Daniel Hudson, Dexter Carter and Tyler Kuhn progress. All three dominated at Great Falls last year. I'm assuming all three will start at Kanny this year (what do you think Scenario?). If they show last year wasn't a fluke, that will go a long way in improving the depth. Jose Martinez is another key guy to focus on. He has good tools and was having a very good year at Kanny before he got injured. Just feels good to want to actually follow the system again. It got pretty damn bad (as Tizzle loved to remind us, like, every single day) there for a while.
  9. QUOTE (daa84 @ Jan 5, 2009 -> 11:20 PM) im a big time big ten fan, and I have defended them for years and used all the excuses in the book...and i still think the big ten gets a worse rap than it deserves....and i know Texas had an arguement to be in the title game, and that OSU could have, and maybe should have won...but im sick of this s***...im sick of defending this crap....I sound like sour grapes, but for christ sake, Delany and alot of other people like me defend this conference and try to quiet the critics. But you know what will quiet them the most? Not f***ing going 1-6 in bowl games. Winning a f***ing BCS game more than once in like 4 years. Beating USC more than once every decade. I still think this conference is better than people give it credit for, but do your own damnselves a favor and prove it for once Summed up very nicely.
  10. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jan 5, 2009 -> 10:39 PM) Yeah, I saw that too. I wasn't rooting for either team in the game, but the way Ohio State fought back made me want them to win. Geez, I just realized I was feeling sorry for the Buckeyes. Can't let that feeling last long lol. They've played a solid/respectable game.
  11. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Jan 5, 2009 -> 10:38 PM) What the f*** was that? Who was that safety? Adam Archuleta?
  12. I'll admit, I didn't know Texas was the Duke of the big-12.
  13. It was a good game for a half. The big-10 has simply shamed themselves this bowl season. Assuming Texas wins, that will be 9-21 in bowl games over the last 4 years, and I believe 0-6 in BCS bowl games since 2006. I don't want to hear anything about how amazing the big 12/SEC and USC are. The last 4 years have been brutal.
  14. QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 5, 2009 -> 09:18 PM) His gf isn't bad to look at. Still pretty pathetic. Shades of Kerry Wood's family from the '03 playoffs.
  15. I can't wait to see this debacle.
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 5, 2009 -> 09:18 PM) There's plenty of reason to think that their bullpen could improve next year...depending on what they do with their starting rotation. Remember, at the end of the season last year they added a guy who it seems that some people think might be pretty good, David Price. At least for now, that would free up an arm from their rotation to move to the bullpen as a long man or as another option there, and that's the sort of move that can really pick up a bullpen. I'm confused. Are you saying Price will be in the 'pen? Or with the addition of Price to the rotation means that they could move a starter to the 'pen? Either way, if Balfour, Wheeler, and Howell revert back to their pre-2008 form, they'll be in trouble.
  17. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Jan 5, 2009 -> 01:22 PM) Rays are going to be deadly next year... Depends on if their bullpen performs again. They had multiple guys have career years last year (think 2005 White Sox). Besides that, they do indeed look damn good.
  18. I will not be satisfied until we get at least 62 shots of McCoy's family between now and the end of the game.
  19. Um, can somebody explain to me why Ed Reed didn't win the DPOY?
  20. Doesn't make sense for either team. We all know our current pitching situation. As for the O's? They've got 3 or maybe even 4 of the sickest pitching prospects in all of baseball. And I think they have the 5th pick in this year's upcoming draft. So if they decide to go for a pitcher, they'll have their pick from the likes of Tyler Matzek or Matt Purke (the two top rated HS pitchers), Aaron Crow, Alex White or Kyle Gibson. Those are pretty much the top pitchers (not including Stephen Strasburg, who's pretty much the consensus #1 pick wherever you look) in this year's draft class. If the O's are FINALLY gonna part with Roberts, it won't be for pitching. At least I don't think so.
  21. Ladies and gentlemen of Soxtalk. My name is Jordan4life. It is January 5 at 7:47 PM (cst). I would like to report that I have lost 23 f***ing pounds in the last month and a half! I repeat, TWENTY THREE POUNDS! I couldn't believe it at first. I even weighed myself on a second scale (it said 208. So naturally I'll go with the scale that says I'm 207) lol. You hear it all the time: Hard work and dedication pays off. Well, it's so damn true. I'm goin' for the kill now. My goal weight was 180 (changed it to 170). I'm going to add two hours of full-court basketball to my program. Big thanks to Rex and all that provided me with very useful knowledge/tips/ect.
  22. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 1, 2009 -> 07:18 PM) Thats a huge farce. There isnt a team in the country that could hang with USC when they play well. They have easily the best defense in the country, have consistently top recruiting classes and played most of their tough matchups at home. Saying the reason the B10 teams havent beaten USC or the last two national champions have nothing to do with speed, athleticism or any of that generality crap, these are the best teams in the nation you mentioned. USC could beat Fla and Ok, would that mean the B12 and SEC arent very athletic as well? And BTW, OSU probably didnt deserve to play in the title game last season and whenever you put a team that isnt as good as the other team in a game its going to look like one team was outclassed, and you will have alot of analysts saying things about athleticism etc when it comes down to a poor matchup. Whatever. When you see Big-10 teams get their asses waxed (these games aren't even remotely competitive) every year what other conclusion should one come to? I realize how good these teams are. But a competitive game is simply too much to ask for? This has become embarrassing. The Big-10 has been considered a weak conference for years by just about anybody who's not a fan of a Big-10 team. And that perception will not change as long as these pathetic showings in these bowl games continue. And I'm an Illini fan. Just keepin' it real.
  23. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Dec 30, 2008 -> 10:43 PM) Shanahan may have been 24-24 over the last 3 years, but he's still a damn good coach. Who better are they really gonna get? That team's offense definitely has a lot of talent, though, so whoever the new coach is is going into a pretty good situation. I'd say the Broncos job is probably the best one available right now. They have a young stud QB, 2 very good young WRs, and a bunch of young RBs that all looked good before getting hurt (Peyton Hillis or Ryan Torain both looked great before getting hurt, though what Denver RB hasn't looked great the last 10 years?). They defense has some good individual players, but they definitely need to add a few guys through free agency and the draft, and you could see Denver being a 10-win team next year based on talent level. Totally agree with you as far as their offense goes. And you didn't even mention Tony Scheffler and Ryan Clady as part of that outstanding offensive core. But their D is simply pathetic. It has been for the last few years (although losing Bailey/Williams during the year certainly didn't help). They've got a ways to go before they can get that side of the ball fixed.
  24. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jan 1, 2009 -> 05:40 PM) "The Pac-10 sucks."- ESPN asshat NCAAF analysts. Yeah, well the P10 is about to be 5-0 this Bowl Season which would be the best of any conference. The Big-10 is the conference that sucks. Period. Hate to say it, but after watching MSU and now PSU take it up the ass today (not to mention OSU's performance in the last two championship games), it's becoming quite clear that the Big-10 simply can't hang with schools that are more skilled/athletic.
  25. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Dec 31, 2008 -> 12:55 PM) For 3 unnamed players apparently. Wonder who the Cubs got in that deal? Would be at least 1 decent prospect you would have thought. I think they're selling high on DeRosa though, which is a smart move on their part. Miles won't replace his offense though. James Stevens is the only real decent prospect they got back. Pretty good numbers at double/triple A last year. Could help them in the 'pen.
