Baines/Raines Flipflop
QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Feb 17, 2006 -> 03:23 PM) You don't have time to scroll through a few posts but you have time to make a post asking what the thread is about? Makes sense It took about two seconds to make that post. But I just found out that I don't have to leave until 4 now. So I'll read through the thread.

Jayson Stark's "Spring fills the air" article
QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Feb 16, 2006 -> 02:49 PM) Why not? Even if you don't count Konerko as an improvement... 1.) Thome instead of Everett as our DH 2.) Vazquez instead of El Duque as our 5th starter 3.) Mackowiak instead of Timo/Willie/Blum as our utility man 4.) McCarthy instead of Vizcaino in our bullpen where he can also serve as a 6th starter That's quite a bit of improvement. ^^^

Thome reports to camp early, raring to go
I'm gonna miss Arow as much as anybody around here. Well, not as much as Rowand44 and Jeckle. But I'm just giddy at the fact we've got Thome. I have to pinch myself sometimes.

Great quotes from Cooper in the CST today
Coops is the reason I believe Vazquez will have a career year.

This was to be expected. Think about it. The "second" team in the second city did something that the "first" team in the second city hasn't come close to doing. Flub players are definitely feeling the pressure/heat over there. Combined with the Red Sox in 04 and it's World Series or Bust for them. I'll go out on a limb and predict bust.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

2006 White Sox Photos
Thank you to SSH and Yasny. This thread is a great idea. Thome looks to be in fantastic shape. B-mac does look a "little" bigger.

Official NBA Discussion Thread
QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Feb 16, 2006 -> 11:11 PM) On further analysis, the only real SG of any note that it appears we could get in FA this year is Bonzi Wells, who isn't exactly a guy I would really want. I suppose we could add Bobby Jackson and go with a multi-combo guard approach, although that doesn't really solve the size issue. I still think Hinrich/Aldridge is going to give us a better chance to win than Gordon/Chandler/Williams. Unless he steps up a bit Gordon is starting to move towards Jamal Crawford territory. I'm assuming you haven't watched much of Ben Gordon of late.

Ozzie article in the new Sports Illustrated

Proposed Batting Order
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Feb 16, 2006 -> 06:03 PM) I'd like Gooch to hit in front of aj just cause it'd give us more options. That's a pretty damn good hit and run combo with aj being a good contact hitter and tad with some decent speed. Totally agreed. My opening day line-up: Pods Uribe "for now" Thome Konerko Dye Gooch A.J Crede Anderson

2 Million tickets already sold
QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ Feb 16, 2006 -> 09:57 PM) They'll still have that notion of the South Side being a hell hole and that Sox fans a raving lunatics who beat up first base coaches. Believe me, the haters will come up with something. I'll fight them off with a White Sox World Series Championship bat.

Wow, just wow...
QUOTE(knightni @ Feb 16, 2006 -> 12:50 PM) They will regret not trading Contreras when he had the most value. Mark me down as a Count skeptic. You've been marked. I've already prepared the crow. It's extra crispy. You will indeed enjoy it.

Wow, just wow...
QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Feb 16, 2006 -> 10:41 AM) So, I'm sitting here, thinking about how wonderful last season was (and remembering the near collapse that had almost everyone at this site suicidal) and I can't help but be mystified by the possibilities THIS season holds. It has been about ten years since any team repeated World Series Championships, but I crave it almost more this year than last year, because I know how good this can be. I remember watching game 3 of the ALDS last year (we'll refer to this as Game Duque) and watching the Boston fans in the stands, thinking "what the hell do they care? they won this thing last year!" Lowe and behold, I now understand. This White Sox team is stacked this year (only question mark centerfield/health.) We added Javier Vazquez to the rotation as our 5th starter! In his WORST season, he is the best 5th starter in all of baseball, and in the history of the White Sox. Does anyone remember John Rauch, Josh Stewart, and Scott Schoeneweis (sp?) on the 2003 team? That seems like so long ago, but it was only 2.5 years! Anyway, we've also added Thome, and I am extremely pumped about this season. I will stop my gushing rant, and I look forward to DVRing every Sox spring training game... I love this team, and rock on. -Let's go Sox. This team is in EXCELLENT position to repeat. You couldn't say that about the 02 Diamondbacks, the 03 Angels, the 04 Marlins or the 05 Red Sox. What Kenny was able to do in taking what was already the best team in baseball and having the nerve and guts to make it better is legendary. Offensive upgrade? Check. Starting rotation upgrade? Check. Bench upgrade? Check. The only thing I can't honestly say we upgraded is the pen. Then again, it's no worse than it was last year. Which was damn good. The Sox are without question the best team going into April. That's all you could ask for at this point.

Albert Belle
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Feb 16, 2006 -> 09:45 PM) Albert Belle was arrested today and charged with stalking his ex-girlfriend. Didn't he recently get married? Its just a wire story on espn.com's baseball section, so who really knows if its true or not, but he supposedly is being held without bond. Does that seem right? Dude is nuts. I'm not surprised.

Poetic justice indeed. So long, sucka!

Bulls-Sixers
Probably their best all-around game of the season. Nice way to go into the break. Now if we could just get that "consistency" thing down.

Bulls-Sixers
Ben Gordon is seriously ballin right now.

Bulls-Sixers
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 16, 2006 -> 07:18 PM) 3 games ahead of the Bulls for the 8th playoff spot. Which is sad considering they have a lot more talent.
