Brian Anderson update
QUOTE(3E8 @ Feb 22, 2006 -> 03:08 PM) I think he may turn into the new whipping boy. He has a strange pattern of only showing up for one month of the season. He only had one "bad" month last year.

Shocked, but Rowand just keeps on truckin'
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Feb 22, 2006 -> 12:50 PM) I like Thome. As do I. But losing Gio f***in stinks. I don't care about Haigwood. But Gonzalez is gonna be very good.

Big 10 in the Big Dance
People can talk about Dee Brown all they want. The Illini are at their best when Auggy is playing well. If Auggy can get hot like he did in the Big Ten tourney last year, they could get there. MSU is another team. They're loaded and extremely talented. If they get hot, watch out. I don't see anybody else from the conference doing any real damage.

The Magic are gonna be nice in 2-3 years. And Isiah Thomas makes post dynasty Jerry Krause look like Billy Beane.

I'm hearing the Wolves could get as many as 3 first round picks as well. Still an awful trade. Especially when you consider we have their pick this year.

My worries with Jenks
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Feb 21, 2006 -> 10:35 PM) Dude, what is the point of this argument? Nobody figures out 100 mph. Shingo was a trick pitch pitcher. He had a trick pitch that nobody had seen before. 100 mph is rare and the batter knows its coming, but they cant hit it. This was the case all season. His mental toughness? Rookie. Playoffs. World Series. Winning Save. You dont get much tougher than that. Even Brad Lidge folded under pressure, twice. 3 times if you include game 5 of the NLCS. Has that ball even landed yet?

You've got to be f***ing kidding me! This has to be bogus. KG to the Knicks for Penny and Frye? If that happens, Paxson should be fired. http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives..._the_big_apple/ Realgm is pretty reliable when it comes to trade rumors. This better not happen.

Crede's back is healthy
Good news on Joe. However, it's a luxury to have a guy like Mack just in case something happens. Trading for Mack might turn out to be the best move of all.

Iguchi out of WBC to concentrate on offense
Now if we could just get Freddy and Javier to pull out of this thing.

McCarthy forgoes cutter for two-seamer
QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Feb 21, 2006 -> 09:08 PM) If a start goes down for an extended period of time and McCarthy dominates for lets say 10-12 starts... does he keep the job or move back to the bullpen? That would be an awesome problem to have. Let's just hope we don't have to find out.

My worries with Jenks
QUOTE(iWiN4PreP @ Feb 21, 2006 -> 08:20 PM) I have some small worries with Bobby Jenks. Look what happened to Shingo last year. Baseball players generally find out pitchers after a year, and Bobby jenks is prime to be found out, he throws 100mph and players well learn how to hit it. The key will be his other pitch(s), and how they work out IMO. Anyone else worried with jenks? But what im not worried about is how our bullpen would react, we got Polite, cotts, and hermanson all there to close if needed. I'm worried about his mental makeup more than anything. Then again, he had ice water in his veins during the playoffs. I don't see the Shingo comparison at all. Jenks' stuff compared to Shingo's is night and day.

Drew Brees
QUOTE(sayitaintso @ Feb 21, 2006 -> 08:37 PM) Why do you think that Rex will stay healthy this year? I would rather have a good QB who doesn't seem to break something new every 3 games. So what should we do? Trade Rex for a bottle of bubble bath? This team has more important needs than a qb.

Official College Basketball Thread
QUOTE(illinilaw08 @ Feb 21, 2006 -> 08:20 PM) Horton was sick tonight. It really hurts losing a very winnable game like this one. Dee and Augustine played very well tonight (Augie especially) and the Illini got a nice effort from Pruitt, but McBride and Randle were non-factors on the offensive end. If Jamar and Frazier could be combined into one player, this would be a much better basketball team. One last point on McBride, he has really struggled this year when an athletic player guards him. When he plays a team where he gets his open looks, he is great, but OSU and Mich both were able to keep him from getting any open looks almost at all. Look it up, I have been a McBride apologist all year, but I am just very frustrated with him when he doesnt play well because IMO the Illini absolutely need him to win. There's still a chance at the Big 10, but the Illini have to win out which is going to take one hell of an effort. Agreed on all points. Big ups to James and Dee tonight. They stepped up like two seniors should.

QUOTE(SnB @ Feb 21, 2006 -> 07:47 PM) Ugh,if we lose this one, it's going to hurt.......bad While i've only seen the last 10 minutes or so, I know this has been a very winnable game. I had a bad feeling about this one going in. There's still hope, though.

Rotation Order
QUOTE(NYSox35 @ Feb 20, 2006 -> 09:01 PM) Hmm...yeah he was definitely the man... I'm not saying you're wrong, I just mean I think it could've been Paulie, Mark, or even JG. Konerko would be the first to admit that the emergence of Contreras was more vital to the team's success than his 40 homer season. Mark and Jon showed us the way in the first half. In the second half, it was the Jose Contreras show. He carried us when everybody else in the rotation outside of Bmac struggled.
