Official NBA Discussion Thread
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 10:31 PM) Someone want to explain to me why the Pistson were wearing red and the nets were wearing white when the game was at the palace? That happens all the time now. The road team will wear their home jerseys while the home team wheres their road ones. It's gay as hell.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 10:32 PM) B/C Darko's about to leave. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2331049 Looks like it's gonna happen. Anybody think it's a mistake by the Pistons to trade Arroyo? He's their only true back-up pg to Chauncey.

Bulls Sacremento thread...
The Bulls have mastered the art of blowing games they should've won. Up 5 with 1:30 to go and can't finish them. This game was lost when Tyson fouled out.

Delgado almost a White Sox instead of Thome?
I'm glad we've got Thome.

The Knicks are now the dumbest, clueless, most pathetic franchise in sports. Guess who they're after now? http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives...r_francis_hard/ LMAO. Steve Francis and Marbury in the same back back-court? Yeah, that would really turn things around.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 03:07 PM) I know Jason is having to tend to some family issues that are taking up a lot of his time. I'm going to imagine we'll have something soon. To hell with family. I want baseball.

Should the NCAA 3 point line be moved back?
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 06:04 PM) The s***ty officiating and the babying of the players has really turned me off the NBA. I used to follow it much more but now I watch Bulls games and thats about it (although I have been watching more basketball in general lately, but most of it has been college ball). Yup. Another thing I can't stand is how players today are paid before proving themselves. Makes me sick that guys like Kwame Brown could retire today and be set for life.

Should the NCAA 3 point line be moved back?
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 01:45 PM) I'm probably one of the few who like it the way it is. To be honest, I don't want a thing changed in the college game, absolutely perfect if you ask me. Same here. My love for the NBA is nowhere near what it used to be. The last thing I wanna see is them mess with the college game.

Clippers trade Chris Wilcox to the Sonics for Vladmir Radmanovic. http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives...vic_for_wilcox/ I like this deal for the Clippers. Let's face it, with Brand and Kaman, Wilcox was kind of the odd man out. In Vlad, they strengthen their bench while adding a very potent 3 point shooter. Also, very, very bad news for the Cavs. Looks like Larry Hughes will miss the rest of the season. http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives...her_8_10_weeks/

Sox Claim Rusty Tucker off waivers
QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 05:39 PM) Here is Baseball America's Profile from 2002. Nice, Maggs. Spring training needs to hurry up and get here already.

Uribe hitting in the 2 hole thoughts
I'm pretty cool with the idea. Ozzie has made it clear he won't wait long to switch back if Uribe proves he can't handle it. The rewards that would come with Uribe proving he can handle the 2 slot is well worth giving this a try.

Heart of the Order
QUOTE(Drew @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 05:26 PM) I started a thread on this earlier today but it looks like it didn't take. Virtually all the talk about Sox lineup changes have revolved around moving Uribe to no. 2 and Iguchi down to anywhere between no. 5 and 7, and some talk of putting BA in the no. 8 slot, moving Crede down to 9 to give the rookie a chance to see more pitches. But what to do with the 3, 4, 5 slots? We've got Paulie, a career no. 4 hitter, whose best years have been at that spot behind Thomas and no. 5 behind Ordoñez, and in whose limitid time at the slot hasn't produced as well at no. 3. We've got Thome who was ostensibly brought in to protect Paulie in the order, but is a career no. 3 hitter with his best production in that slot. We've got Dye who has hit everywhere between 3-6, and did well enough in the 3-slot to garner a World Series MVP. It'd make the most sense to me to bat them in the order of Thome-Konerko-Dye, but of course this is all conjecture because Ozzie spent the entire season fiddling with the batting order every few days anyway. With all this taken into account, I'd envision something close to: Podsednik Uribe Thome Konerko Dye Pierzynski Iguchi Anderson Crede Thoughts? I'd flip flop Pierzynski and Gooch. I agree with everything else.

Sox Claim Rusty Tucker off waivers
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 03:57 PM) Bringing guys like this in doesn't hurt. The worst thing that can happen is that they continue to suck and you release them or send them to the minors. I just wouldn't expect one of them to shine. Guys like Wunsch and Jenks, guys that are picked up off the garbage heap and become solid contributors are the exception rather than the rule. Hopefully at least one of the lefties brought in will not remind us of Kevin Walker, although Walker was pretty good for most of spring training last year IIRC. Pretty much my thoughts as well. There's basically no risk when adding these types of guys. The competition is gonna be fierce, though.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 06:07 AM) C'mon Isiah, you know you want to; So in essence this is what happens; Orlando gets Milicic, Arroyo, Nene, Crawford and Ariza, and all they have to give up is Cato, Francis and a 1st round pick. Surely that can't be possible? So in the future we could have a frontcourt of Dwight, Darko, Nene and Fran Vazquez. Wow. Where do I sign? Sounds to good to be true from a Magic's fan point of view. But when Isiah is involved, anything is possible.

white sox tickets
QUOTE(rventura23 @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 10:31 AM) So I went on whitesox.com to get my advanced tickets assuming I could still get some good seats. Most of the games I wanted to get (including Tor and Minn, which are not the best selling seats) had me out in the outfield with possible viewing obstruction warnings. I guess its good news that the sox tickets are selling so well, but I was hoping for a little better seats! This year is gonna be quite different as far as getting tickets.

Bulls win at Clippers
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 01:30 AM) Gordon is a more expensive, slightly more consistent, more played, and more hyped version of Jannero Pargo. He has 1 skill, scoring points when he gets hot (which he can do) and that's it. Nothing else. We could trade him tomorrow and I'd be happy since we'd get more than value for him. Chris Duhon is an average NBA point guard, sorry if I'm not over excited by that. Oh, and he has to work his f***ing ass off to just be average, so expect his career to be full of nagging injuries. And when Kirk Hinrich hits a big shot in the 4th quarter of a game, give me a call because it will be a first. Also, I'm tired of Kirk and his damned 3 for 14 shooting nights. I'm glad you're not gm.

Bulls win at Clippers
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 01:06 AM) I'd love to have Rudy Gay, but considering the only 2 players we have on this team worth s*** right now (besides Tyson the last 3 weeks) are natural 3's (Noch and Deng) that could be interesting. I am very interested to see what happens with this squad from now until the deadline, and then again this offseason. Pax has a lot of work to do, and I'm not sure how he is going to do it. Gordon and Hinrich aren't worth s***? What about Duhon?

Anyone else getting excited?
I'm as giddy as Oprah before the third helping. I really thought I was gonna be content after what we did last year. Forget that. I'm like Kenny, I want it more in 06 than I did in 05.

Anybody gonna camp outside overnight at their local video store? Today is "the" day. Saw 2 indeed. I already told my girl not to bother me at all today. Will do the Valentine's day thing some other time this year or whatever.

What a story the Hornets are becoming. They win again on a last second buzzer beater by David West. They're even getting it done without Paul. Is there a more underrated player in the game than Speedy Claxton? I love this guy. Good things always happen when he's on the court.

Rick Morrissey Cubs vs. Sox article
QUOTE(SouthsideNorthsideFan @ Feb 11, 2006 -> 09:04 PM) the Sox outdrawing the Cubs and gaining on overall fan base would be the best thing that could happen for old time cubs fans... God I love that avatar. Old man Ryan kicked Ventura's booty.

Borch considers Football Career
I think this is a case of a guy realizing the hour glass on his baseball career is running out. The guy is like 28 and no closer to making the big league team than he was 4 or 5 years ago. I hope he has a good spring training, and atleast forces Ozzie and his boys to have to make a tough decision.
