QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Feb 9, 2006 -> 05:11 PM) TT straight up for Kenyon and Nene. See if they bite. They seem pretty desperate to unload Kenyon's contract and it would give the Bulls two quality bigs. I have no idea if either team would do it and obviously it depends on how desperate Denver is to dump that contract. Unless Isiah Thomas becomes the Denver gm in the next couple days, that deal ain't happenin.

jerry owens
QUOTE(MarkBuehrle_TheAce @ Feb 9, 2006 -> 04:31 PM) am I the only sox fan in this forum who happens to beleive that jerry owens should be our starter in center? with him batting second, if he can hit .285 OR higher, and steal 20 bases, then our lineup would be that much more dangerous. case in point, owens would create a lot more opportunities for konerko/thome/dye to get rbi's, and we would sequatially score more runs You're one of the few. Owens is simply not ready for the show yet. He's even admitted that he needs more experience. As far as him playing center, forget about it. He can fly, but he's got a noodle for an arm.

A Widger-Vazquez Connection
I'm waiting for Qwerty to attribute Vazquez's inconsistencies the last two years to not having Widger to catch for him.

Sox on Oprah today again?
Question. Is Oprah still a fat, nasty blob? I just want to know so I can prepare myself when I watch the show tonight.

Blue Jays close to signing Bengie Molina
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 9, 2006 -> 01:38 PM) Molina's not too happy with the Angels it seems. Link. But I thought Frank was the only guy that got upset about things like this?

A Widger-Vazquez Connection
QUOTE(YASNY @ Feb 9, 2006 -> 01:33 PM) I wonder if Widger realizes how knowledgable Sox fans appreciate how much he contributed in '05. AJ's been getting a lot of the kudos, but Widger was a very important part of the team. Totally agreed.

Feel good moment
QUOTE(The Critic @ Feb 9, 2006 -> 12:21 PM) Yep. I have never been so damn anxious for a baseball season to start!!! This is foreign territory for Sox fans. I still can't fathom the fact that we're going into the 06 season as defending World Champions. The road to the World Series officially goes through Chicago. It's an amazing feeling. The season can't get here quick enough.

Uh-Oh, now it's MR. Gretsky
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 9, 2006 -> 11:26 AM) What, the strike didn't get your attention? Not at all. I didn't know it ended until about a month after the fact. lol. Hockey is a joke. Sorry NHL fans.

The Cubs scam their fans AGAIN
God I love being a Sox fan.

Uh-Oh, now it's MR. Gretsky
Anybody think it's kinda sad that it takes something like this to get hockey in the news?

Re-sign Contreras, trade Vazquez mid-season
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Feb 9, 2006 -> 06:16 AM) Stating the bleetin obvious here; So is that Francisco Liriano or Felix Hernandez we're gettin then? I'm glad Kenny's not messin around. I don't care if he's 34. You don't trade a pitcher of Jose's caliber without getting something damn good in return.

Sox on Oprah today again?

Jordan on Kobe's 81 and other things
QUOTE(q\/\/3r+y @ Feb 8, 2006 -> 08:51 PM) You are saying at this point jordan would still put twenty up on kobe bryant? I'm pretty sure he meant a prime Jordan. But even the old man could teach Kobe a few things if they ever went at it.

Bulls @ nuggets...
QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Feb 9, 2006 -> 02:10 AM) Is Aldridge really as good as advertised.... I honestly havent seen him really play or if I have it wasnt that much.... Yes, he is. He's 6'11, 245. He's very skilled, long, athletic and handles the ball well for a big. Just think Chris Bosh. I definitely agree with Qwerty about taking Aldridge if he's there when we pick.

Bulls @ nuggets...
QUOTE(q\/\/3r+y @ Feb 8, 2006 -> 09:10 PM) Bulls lead 33-20 after one. Chandler is 3-3 for six points. He also has seven rebounds and two assists. Gordon is 3-4 with two three... for eight points. Malik allen actually played above his scrubbiness. Sounds too good to be true. It's just a matter of time before Denver goes on a 17-2 run.

Official NBA Discussion Thread
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 8, 2006 -> 05:34 PM) Yes, but it only takes 1 elbow or turn of an ankle to suddenly make it so that the Spurs will be in deep trouble. And even then...we haven't yet seen the best of the Suns, and it's also always possible for an "unproven" team to beat a proven one...by those standards, the Bulls were pretty unproven when they beat the living Hell out of the Pistons in 91. I never said an unproven team couldn't beat a proven team. He said the Mavs might be better than the Spurs. I say that's totally false until the Mavs prove themselves in the playoffs. We know what the Spurs can do when it counts. That's the difference. And injuries go for everybody.

Official NBA Discussion Thread
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 8, 2006 -> 01:13 PM) Don't be. I understand why you think that way, but Avery Johnson has done a great job and their defense is VERY improved. I think they might actually be better than the Spurs, even though your not supposed to say that. Better than the Spurs? No way. Yeah, their d is improved. Hard to get much worse. But the Spurs have been a top 3 defense year in and year out. Unlike the Mavs, the Spurs are proven. Duncan and Manu are a little banged up right now. But I can almost guarantee you they'll be ready to go come playoff time. Which is bad news for the rest of the West.

Official Super Bowl Thread
QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Feb 8, 2006 -> 01:38 PM) Even so, you still have class enough to shake the opposing coaches hand. Cowher didn't do anything wrong. Cowher stood in disbelief for about 5 minutes at midfield while everyone was looking around for Holmgren. Cowher's smile went into his usual chin sticking out look, it was pretty sad for a coach that just won the super bowl. I agree. I was just saying that's probably the reason why.

You know you grew up in the 80's if.....
I'm not even 23 yet and I miss the 80's.

ESPN Report: Sham-me Sosa Retires
It's hard to believe that just 5 years ago there was an actual debate on who was better between Sosa and Bonds.

Sox visit to White House may be on Monday
QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Feb 8, 2006 -> 08:51 AM) Frank is such a sourpuss. Come on this is the chance of a lifetime, one that he will probably never be privy to again, and he blows it off. One day in the distant future he will look back on all this crap and realize what he is missing. It's probably better that he doesn't go.

Official Super Bowl Thread
QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Feb 8, 2006 -> 12:18 PM) It was nice to see Holmgren complain about the refs. But did he explain why he decided to ignore Cowher at midfield? My guess is he was pretty pissed off. With good reason.

Jordan on Kobe's 81 and other things
Jordan was way too kind when breaking down the Knicks. And Kobe wouldn't break 20 with MJ guarding him. Fouls or no fouls.
