Donovan McNabb finally responds
I just can't wait till Owens is no longer an Eagle and this lame soap opera ends.

Anyone else love the versatile bench?
QUOTE(Gldfinger5 @ Feb 2, 2006 -> 09:19 AM) Speaking of Borchard, does anybody else see him as a a possible Adam Dunn type? I don't think he could put up as many HRs, but I see a similarity. Nope. I do think he can be very valuable off the bench, though.

Can't Miss Prospects out of options?
Looking at this thread has made me apperciate KW even more. I'm glad he doesn't slobber over prospects the way some GMs do. I figure unless you have a no doubt about it guy like Mark Prior, Felix Hernandez or David Wright, any prospect is fair game.

How will the Sox finish in April?
QUOTE(RME JICO @ Feb 2, 2006 -> 02:54 AM) The Sox April 2006 schedule consists of 24 games: 3 vs CLE 3 at KC 3 at DET 3 vs TOR 3 vs KC 3 vs MIN 3 at SEA 3 at LAA I don't know if they will match last year's hot start, but the schedule is in their favor. It is? Other than the Royals and Mariners, those are some tough teams.

QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Feb 1, 2006 -> 08:52 PM) Chris is having a great season. But he's also lucky. I've never seen a season where rookies are getting as little P/T as this year. This was a s***ty draft. Probably the worst since 2000.

How f***in good is Chris Paul? Has there been a more clear cut ROY since Tim Duncan back in 1998? They should just give him the award now.

Bulls lay another egg in the first half tonight. I think we all know what's gonna happen from this point out. The Hornets will go up by 20 at some point in the thrid quarter. Then the Bulls will mount a lame charge and lose by "only" 4. Then will hear the never ending "Well, atleast we played hard" bulls***.

Closer or setup suits Hermanson
QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Jan 31, 2006 -> 11:44 PM) Agreed, that's why I don't want to see him as a late-inning setup man. Last season was a career year for him and I don't expect to see him with an ERA anywhere near 2.00. Especially not with 33 strikeouts in 57.1 IP. Half our staff had career years last year. Should we worry about them also?

Closer or setup suits Hermanson
QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Jan 31, 2006 -> 10:39 PM) He's a great team player. I still think the job should and will belong to Jenks at the start of the season. Unless Jenks gets completely shelled during spring training, he's definitely the closer.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jan 31, 2006 -> 10:46 PM) Illinois won. Smartass So did anybody outside of Dee and James play well? I could obviously look at the boxscore. But that doesn't always tell the whole story.

Can anybody give me a recap of the Illini game tonight? I didn't get a chance to watch it.

QUOTE(q\/\/3r+y @ Jan 31, 2006 -> 10:40 PM) Chandler and hinrich? Nice games. The first half the mavericks shot out of their minds. The second half the bulls were just playing smothering defense. To be down by 30 and come back to only lose by four is a feat in itself. I will take holding the mavericks to 40% shooting considering they normally shoot 46%. The bulls had 14 turnovers to their 13 but they were much sloppier than the numbers indicate. Moral victories get tired after a while.

Minaya and Mets seeking Contreras
Both Crede and Uribe got the job done offensively in the playoffs. Of course, you want to see them do it on a more consistent basis.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jan 31, 2006 -> 08:19 PM) Bulls are getting drubbed. They just look awful. Turnovers galore. I guess if they were going to look bad, tonights the night it might as well happen since I don't think they had much of a shot against Dallas anyway. Bulls have just thrown the ball everywhere (leading to a ton of turnovers and easy fast break buckets already). Plus offensively we look horrid. Malik Allen decided he should take this long ass jump shots and we are missing any open shot that pops up. The Mavs are playing at an extremely high level right now. I'm not really surprised at how bad we're getting molested. On the bright side, how unbelievably bad are the Knicks? Losing by 25 going into the 4th quarter against the Lakers? After getting blown out last night by the 11-31 Atlanta Hawks? That pick we're gonna get will indeed be a high one.

Rick Morrissey Cubs vs. Sox article
QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jan 31, 2006 -> 08:55 AM) EXACTLY. Lets face it, young kids are the ultimate bandwagonners. If you can capture that fan base with a few consecutive AL and WS championships, you will secure a solid fan base for 15 years from now. As a side note, I don't expect too many people's allegiance to change because the Sox are WS champs. If the Cubs had won the WS, would any of us be jumping ship? If anything, I'd be a bigger, louder Sox supporter. I expect an even more obnoxious Cub fan base this year. The diehards will always support their team. The Sox are trying to capture the casusal/bandwagon fan. They're doing a good job of that already.

Rick Morrissey Cubs vs. Sox article
As I've said before, it's a Sox town where it counts. Think Cubs fan wouldn't trade being more popular for a World Series title? Not to mention a legitimate chance to do it again?
