  1. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Dec 16, 2005 -> 01:17 AM) I do not want Contreras going anywhere, the guy is just going to be a total stud this season and our best pitcher imo. He's to damn good to let go of. With what's looking like a much improved offense, I don't doubt Jose can win 20 games in 06. He's that good!
  2. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Dec 16, 2005 -> 12:04 AM) Simple answer is yes. You don't trade your best prospect and only marginably improve your club. Unless the D'backs sign Kenny Lofton, Chris Young will have every opportunity to be their Opening Day CF. Yes, this year. I agree, Rex. That's why we have to wait and see what else Kenny has up his sleeve.
  3. QUOTE(YASNY @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 10:42 PM) If Crede had a healthy back and a reasonable agent, I say keep him. But the reality is that he has a bad back and a, well, less than reasonable agent. If his back goes out, he produces nothing. If he can stay healthy, we lose him to free agency. What's the point in keeping him? Stop it, Yasny. You're making too much sense.
  4. Excellent post by Fathom.
  5. QUOTE(quickman @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 09:31 PM) If you can get tejada for garland and uribe, that is the trade to do. Better player all around and instant star on the team. thats the trade, though I think Levine is an idiot. I also think the CUBS will step up and put together a good package, most likely overpay to have this guy. I don't see what they have that could top Garland/Uribe/decent prospect. Unless they want to part with Cy Prior or Fattybrano.
  6. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 09:30 PM) Haha, on ESPN 1000 some caller is whining about how the Sox are making themselves too much like the Yankees. Cubs fan
  7. QUOTE(G&T @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 09:23 PM) The early nineties pitching staff? Where did those guys come from? All of them were drafted by the Sox I believe.
  8. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 08:37 PM) You have to factor in that Garland will only be under their control for one season and Crede will be a free agent soon after. Blalock has a cheap 3-year contract with a 4th year option. Good point. I'm defintely cool with Garland/Crede for Blalock and one of Diamond or Danks.
  9. We've got the trophy. I could care less who's town it is. But, yes, the pendulum is heavily swinging towards the Sox.
  10. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 08:25 PM) I'd assume its because I'm pretty familiar with the farm system, plus I have a history of being pretty accurate when it comes to evaluating prospects (well I don't overhype them usually, Young may be the one exception cause I've been oozing and raving about him for a few years). Is it because you're a powerful mod?
  11. Wow! I just heard about this. Ozzie was obviously a no-brainer. But it's awesome to see Neal get some love. I remember being very critical of him when he first came up. Neal has taught me to have more patience with young pitchers when they first get to the dance. Props to Neal on an excellent 05 campaign and many more in the future.
  12. Tyson has taken a step back from last year. Nobody can really deny that. Is he healthy? Did not working out like he usually does in the off-season until after he signed his new contract hurt him? Is it because he's playing out of position? I'm with Hammerhead on the thinking that once Tyson does figure it out, and don't ask me when, I have no clue when he will, he'll be a real force. Offensively, he's always gonna blow. So people may as well just give up on the idea of him ever being a scorer. His calling card is gonna be rebounding, shotblocking and being a defensive force ala Ben Wallace. Elton Brand is having a fantastic year. He's my MVP to this point. And it FINALLY looks like an Elton Brand led team is gonna make the playoffs. But don't let those eff rating blind you. He's not as good as Duncan, KG or Shaq when he's healthy.
  13. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Dec 14, 2005 -> 10:04 AM) Besides the fact that he is on IR, what has Airese Curry done to give you faith in the depth at WR? Just curious. I heard he's ready to go. He's done nothing to this point, obviously. I know the dude can fly. I'm just not broken up about losing Wade. He has butterfinger hands as a punt returner and wasn't much of a wr at all. But like I said, we could have Chad Johnson, Marvin Harrison and Randy Moss, with Orton at qb, it wouldn't matter.
  14. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Dec 14, 2005 -> 01:28 AM) I'm sorry but that just made me laugh, really. Losing Wade is not gonna hurt our depth at wr. But like I said, we don't have a qb anyway. So who cares.
  15. RockRaines just owned LDF. lol
  16. lol. Dude got what he deserved.
  17. QUOTE(Steff @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 04:29 AM) Or just a week or two ago when you were ripping the s*** out of him for not making a spot for Frank on the '06 team... :rolly LMAO. God I love Steff.
  18. QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 14, 2005 -> 11:15 PM) Did you read the latest article on chicagosports? What it say?
  19. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Dec 14, 2005 -> 09:59 PM) It's like the return of former SoxTalk posters who were dismissed. Next thing you know, cwsox and HeatherLee will be back! What happened to Heather? I liked her.
  20. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Dec 14, 2005 -> 09:56 PM) Who are you rcpweiner? Comedian Sox fans....hmmmmm Smells like Brandofan to me. I could be wrong.
  21. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Dec 14, 2005 -> 09:49 PM) Do you really think the ball will bounce our way in 2006 like it did all of last season? I know we were a really good team but damn, we seemed to get all the breaks last year. Kenny improved our offense this offseason because it really wasn't all that good last year. He traded for Vazquez as protection for Garland leaving after 2006. Don't forget about the massive upgrade of Mackoviak over Blum.
  22. QUOTE(whitesoxmanager @ Dec 14, 2005 -> 09:44 PM) could you please explain the REASONS that this doesnt work? If every team around you stayed the same, then, yes, bringing back the same team would make sense. But, and I know this is hard to fathom, we are the top dog now. The road to the championship now goes through Chicago. Damn that sounds nice. Anyway, you have other's out there that will try, and in come cases already have, upgrade with the idea of knocking off the White Sox. This is especially the case with AL teams. So you always have to try and get better if possible.
  23. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Dec 14, 2005 -> 09:12 PM) Podsednik Iguchi Tejada Thome Konerko Dye Pierzynski Crede Anderson The same feeling that came over me when I saw Jessica Simpson in the "Dukes of Hazzard" movie for the first time is the same feeling that came over me at the thought of this potential line-up. Damn, it really hot over here all of a sudden.
  24. Check out the reaction of some Flub fans at the news that the Sox could be a leading canidate to land Tejada. I was totally against Garland and Uribe for Tejada when it was first suggested. Now, with the addition of Vasquez, i'm all for it. Make it happen, Kenny!
  25. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 14, 2005 -> 06:12 PM) According to the 1st post, we would be getting the prospect. My mistake. I guess i'm used to us always being the ones to give up the major prospects. I still don't like this deal.
