  1. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 22, 2012 -> 12:17 PM) Just another chance to shove it in our faces. Beaning the Ex-Cub would have sent a message (without Ozzie sending messages to the media, this is our only outlet). Now who do we bean to get revenge for Paulie? People in Lawrence know Robin and Kenny dont have the balls to bean players. Now what? I think Floyd should bean the first three batters of the game tonight to send a message. And then point at the sky and say, "That's for you, Paulie and my friends in Lawrence!"
  2. QUOTE (Andrew @ May 22, 2012 -> 11:22 AM) This is fantastic. I'm a bit emotional now.
  3. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ May 22, 2012 -> 08:53 AM) Joe Mauer only has 1 home run this year. Yikes. But he has awesome hair.
  4. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 22, 2012 -> 08:23 AM) I hope Floyd beans someone Yeah! It doesn't matter if he gets tossed in the first inning. We have to send a message that you don't bean legends! You easily sacrifice this game against the Twins to send a message to the...Cubs...wait...
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 21, 2012 -> 06:07 PM) So far the Chicago cops have made better contact than the Cubs... Post of the thread.
  6. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 21, 2012 -> 05:53 PM) You guys don't get it. When Ozzie gets attacked I respond. When I get baited to comment on Ozzie, I comment. I love Ozzie. I still stand up for him and I take the bait that is dangled at me a lot. Get it? And unfortunately we take the bait that you dangle out there. Even if he was as good as you think (which he was not - he quit on the team), why keep praising him? He's the manager of the Marlins now. If you love Ozzie so much (more than the Sox it seems), be a Marlins fan. There's probably no one on this site that doesn't give Ozzie a ton of credit for 2005. He did a great job. But his last 2+ years in Chicago were bad. 2011 was horrible. And it took him absolutely no time to make an ass of himself in Miami. If he keeps it up, and the Marlins don't win a division title soon, he'll be looking for a job somewhere else. The Ozzie era (good and bad) is over in Chicago. I'll let it go if you do.
  7. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 21, 2012 -> 09:24 PM) Stretch! Get on back there! Unfortunately, the line falls just short of the warning track.
  8. QUOTE (MAX @ May 21, 2012 -> 12:10 PM) Two things that annoyed me today. This "article" is about hudson taking time away from "Gordon Beckman". Very insightful. http://baseballmusings.com/?p=83993 Okay, its just some dumb blog. But this mlb video gives credit for friday's win to to "Joe Thorton" http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/video/play...18&c_id=cws He's going by Joe for a while to see if it helps get some wins. So far, so good.
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 21, 2012 -> 12:03 PM) All 5 of them were hit at Petco. I suspected that.
  10. Hudson has hit 5 triples this year so far? His overall numbers are meh, but that's an abnormally high number of triples.
  11. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 18, 2012 -> 05:14 PM) Robin is likeable, but the previous manager was as well. The previous manager rode in a parade in Chicago with a trophy as well. Staring down Rogers is stupid though. The question had to be asked. It's not Rogers' fault. Oh my god. Really? Ozzie...does not...have...anything...to do...with...the...White Sox...anymore! He made people smile, he was in your face, he was funny...I don't care. So if a guy gets employee of the month once, but his next few years he's chronically late, mouths off to supervisors, and generally makes an ass of himself, we should focus only on his plaque hanging in the hallway? To hell with that. I got dibs on his office.
  12. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 21, 2012 -> 08:57 AM) Would he have used one of the crutches as a bat? That would be awesome. He could then dramatically flip the crutch end over end after he cranked one over the bleachers. "Konerko Cripples Cubs"
  13. So, are they going to do another commercial with Paulie getting hit in the face? Since he didn't stay in the game, they could center the commercial around how much of a gentleman he is by not blaming the pitcher. "Paul Konerko truly appreciates the game"
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 21, 2012 -> 06:50 AM) Wha? The guy is out a few games, not a terminal cancer patient. Maybe they should have had a moment of silence before the game. But that would have taken way from Kerry Wood weekend.
  15. I don't believe he threw at Paulie on purpose. There's just too much evidence to the contrary. It wasn't a fastball or anything without movement, it hit him in the face, and too many people agree that it wasn't on purpose. If you're gonna plunk a guy, you don't hit him in the head. That's way too dangerous. If Jake "I'm Always Angry" Peavy doesn't believe it was on purpose, it's easy for me to believe so, as well. The Sox did the better thaing by just beating the crap out of the Cubs over the last two games.
  16. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 17, 2012 -> 10:18 AM) Exactly. That's the problem. This for, the most part, is a ***ty ass division. In the AL east or west, we're 10 games out by now and looking towards selling. But the Tigers have been average at best and nobody believes in the Indians. It's maddening. You know the Sox aren't good enough to win it. But they're not bad enough to be out of it by July. They're just a bunch of meanies!
  17. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ May 17, 2012 -> 10:00 AM) Some things of note. Indians no home runs in 11 straight games, first game against the Sox, streak ends Ryan Raburn only home run, and batting .149 mind you, Sox pitcher allows him to change a game with a three run shot after hitting a guy and giving up a 6 run lead in a matter of seconds Jhonny Peralta only home run this year, walk off two run shot against White Sox Albert Pujols is stuggling this year....no worries White Sox pitching will get him back on track Yes the White Sox seem to able to let struggling players beat them. Appreciate the Game Struggling players and rookies. The Sox have always had trouble with pitchers taking the mound for the first time. I think I could go out there and limit the Sox to a couple hits. I could hear Hawk: "You know, Stoney, our hitters are having a real tough time hitting that 68 mile per hour fastball. That reminds me of a time when I was playing for the Carmines..."
  18. The trouble right now is that the Sox don't have a lot to trade. Peavy may be moveable, but the return would be pretty minimal. Salary dump (including the $4 million minimum for 2013) would be fine, though, if the Sox are clearly out of it. I'm not sure Konerko would be traded, but he might bring a decent return. Rios...get used to seeing him as a White Sox. The other problem is this damn division. Is any team going to run away with the division? Unless the Sox are way back at the deadline, I don't see much happening. With the way it's going, I could see the Sox right around .500 and within 5 games of first.
  19. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 16, 2012 -> 02:37 PM) He has? Longer than he should have.
  20. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 16, 2012 -> 12:05 PM) There's no question he's better than last year, but he's still not good. Okay, I can agree there. It's a shame that we look at him as being "good" because of how bad he's been.
  21. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 16, 2012 -> 10:04 AM) Juan Pierre 2012 OPS .740. As much as people want to say Rios has turned the corner, he really hasn't. I don't know. You're looking at one stat. Granted, it's a good measurement of a player's ability to get on base and his power, but that doesn't tell the whole story. He's on pace (based on the same number of PA as last year) for 19 doubles, 12 triples (very unlikely), 4 HRs (low), 55 RBIs, 16 stolen bases, and 39 walks...with a .275 BA. Last year he had 22 doubles, 2 triples, 13 HRs, 44 RBIs, 11 solten bases, and 27 walks...with a .227 BA. Granted his projected numbers aren't all star caliber, but they are a significant improvement over last year.

You're right. He has been pretty good lately. I suppose it's the bad games that really stick out. Well, in that case, Gavin, keep it up.
  23. Besides, even if he could lay down a bunt, unless he's sacrificing someone over, there wouldn't be a high rate of success. He's faster than Konerko, but he'd still be lumbering down the line.
  24. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 16, 2012 -> 07:08 AM) Dude has a pink glove. If you cant beat a guy with a pink glove, you should quit the game of baseball. Yeah, even my daughter uses a blue glove when she plays softball.
  25. QUOTE (Marty34 @ May 16, 2012 -> 06:24 AM) Just as De Aza isn't a CF'er Dunn isn't a #3 hitter and certainly isn't any long-term solution. As far as SP goes I think we're closer to mediocre than to being solid. Huh? De Aza is a solid centerfielder. Not super, but good. And Dunn is a good #3 hitter. He was terrible last year, but he's been a good fit there this year. If he has a year of .240ish/35 HRs/100 RBIs, I think I'll take that in my #3 hitter.
