My parents are helping us with the cost of flying down to NC to visit them the week after Christmas, so that's a pretty awesome present. Christmas time, being with the family, has always been one of my favorite times of the year. This year will be extra special as we get to have two Christmases, one with my wife's family and one with mine. Being greedy though, I'd love an iPad and/or the iPhone 4S.

I would think he'll be better in 2012, but how much better is the question. I don't think he's the guy we thought he was when he came up. My guess is that he's a .260-.270 hitter with moderate power...maybe 15 HRs a year. And that would be fine as far as I'm concerned.

I forgot about Anton from No Country For Old Men. That guy had absolutely no remorse. He was the perfect villian.

The worst case scenario for Danks is to hold onto him and then lose him to FA after 2012. I really don't think that will happen, but stranger things have happened. I hope he is either traded for a decent haul now or is signed to a reasonable extention. By reasonable, I wouldn't want to see the Sox spend more than $13-$14 million per on him...essentially what they might pay for Buehrle. If the Sox are truly leaning towards a re-tooling year in 2012, I wouldn't expect Danks or Buehrle back.

I'm caught up with The Walking Dead, with the exception of last night's episode. I'm surprised at how many people aren't liking the show anymore. In my opinion, it's still very good. I know there will be plenty who will argue, but I think the character development is pretty good. Daryl is probably the best character and is pretty complex. I don't think you can have all of the characters as complex, and some people are just who they are. Rick is the overall decent guy who tries to make the right decisions but doesn't always succeed. Shane is like the antithesis of Rick, and maybe that's a bit overdone, especially considering the history with Lori that Rick doesn't know about. Andrea is pretty unlikable, but she seems to be getting over her depression/hate of the world. On a side note, I loved the Walker in the well scene. Especially at the end when T-Dog said it was a good thing they didn't do something stupid like shoot it.

Not starting another thread yet, but if the Sox were to try to sign Danks to a multi-year contract now (if they were resigned to the fact that Buehrle was gone), what sort of contract gets it done? He's young and has shown that he COULD be an ace. Could the Sox even afford him at this point?

I'm at about a 3.14. Speaking of, I'm more interested in pie...you know with Thanksgiving coming up. Depending on what happens with Buehrle, my excitement could increase dramatically or drop a bit. I am looking forward to the winter meetings. Hopefully the ball starts rolling and we have a better idea of what this team will look like in spring training.

3/$39 million with an option for a fourth year. A creative contract like Konerko's would be nice to save some money up front until a bad contract or two goes away.
