AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!
QUOTE (SHIPPS @ Apr 15, 2010 -> 08:58 AM) For 500k Andruw is gonna give us some great value with the long ball. Even if thats all he does. Agreed. It's way too early to say, but you have to wonder if KW isn't already looking to extend him. I have a feeling it won't be easy considering his agent. He'd make a nice DH next season.

Simple Not Ideal Lineup Fix
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Apr 14, 2010 -> 04:54 PM) 7 Kotsay 4 Beckham B Quentin 3 Konerko 5 Teahen 8 Rios 9 Jones 2 AJP 6 Vizquel Pierre will lead the league in outs if he plays everyday. His role has to be diminished. *scratches head* *stares at wall for a few minutes* *runs to the bathroom and vomits explosively*

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!
What's encouraging is that the Sox scored 11 runs with a vomit-inducing lineup. Obviously Jones needs to play just about every day now, but Mark Kotsay should settle back on the bench, cross his legs, and cram a fistfull of sunflower seeds in his mouth. And Omar Vizquel should be a late inning defensive replacement...although I did like the Podsednik-esque "throw the bat at the ball" move.

Brillance of Buerhle
QUOTE (Y2HH @ Apr 14, 2010 -> 09:16 PM) I bet that's Mark Buehrle.

Did the Sox score too many runs tonight?
I'm sick and tired of seeing this team win. Damn Quentin and his grand slam! Enough with the good hitting, Mr. Jones! Knock it off, all of you!

I don't like Andruw Jones
Is it too early to start a thread (sorry, Steve) pleading KW to sign Jones to an extension?

The lineup is Ozzie's way of taking the attention away from his comments.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Apr 14, 2010 -> 02:40 PM) So Ozzie will finally be managing "Ozzie Ball" tonight? I believe we are 3-4 when we hit a home run, 0-1 when he don't. I love this Ozzie Ball so far. There were some tones of sarcasm in that post. I don't imagine we will see a thread saying Ozzie 4-Eva!

QUOTE (docsox24 @ Apr 14, 2010 -> 01:50 PM) this it true but lets also recognize that we need another stick if we are going to win this division. And a strong person to swing said stick.

Seriously Ozzie?
One of these days Ozzie will go too far. He came pretty close on this one, but like others have said, stupid stuff like this is almost laughed at when coming from Ozzie. It would be a HUGE news story if Ron Gardenhire or Jim Leyland said it.

Seriously Ozzie?
QUOTE (SteveB23 @ Apr 14, 2010 -> 09:05 AM) Don't be so sensitive...all I'm saying is that in "White Sox Nation", team performance should be what matters most. I could care less what Ozzie says to the f**king media. They love to goad him into saying stupid things, then jump on him when he does. Whether you want to believe it or not, Ozzie is a great manager. IMO the Sox probably don't win the 2005 WS without him. Great manager, no. He has his moments, and he did a good job in 2005. I'm less convinced of his managerial abilities this year. I will say that he's a better choice than quite a few of the other managers out there, but he's not one of the best.
-
Seriously Ozzie?
Ugh. You'd almost think Ozzie talks like this to get a reaction. "Hey look, it's me, crazy Ozzie." But, he actually is just speaking his mind...and that can be a bad thing sometimes.

Maybe we need more Tiggers to balance the Eeyores.

4/14 Gamethread: White Sox (3-5) vs Blue Jays (6-2) 6:07 PM
The Sox will be 4-5 by tonight. Danks has his first win. And a new thread is started calling for the indefinite retention of Ozzie as Sox manager.

Fire Ozzie
Yeah, we can argue the point of firing Ozzie or Ozzie resigning after every loss. Last night's loss was the result of stellar pitching, not necessarily a bad lineup. We all know there are concerns with the lineup, and we all know that Ozzie played a big part in creating the team as it is built now. If things continue to go badly, I imagine KW will do something. But calling for the head of Ozzie after 8 games and a 3-5 start is ridiculous.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Apr 13, 2010 -> 10:23 AM) Perhaps, but that doesn't have much to do with his recent "struggles". He walked two batters last night because of mild struggles with command, not because of the type of pitcher he is. If he was a two-pitch pitcher with higher velocity, he still would not have hit the strike zone. Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but when Bobby retired all those batters in a row, he was beginning his change to a more versatile style of pitcher, right? There's no telling what kind of pitcher Bobby would be today had he not changed his style. Hell, he might have burnt himself out. Who knows. I see your point, but I wonder if his struggles would be as mighty if he was still the fireballer/wicked curve pitcher.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
I've mentioned this before, and I still think it's true: Jenks was a better closer when he had his 100 mph heat and the deadly curve. I'm not saying it's not wise to diversify (especially to avoid arm damage), but I'm not sure Jenks has caught on to what Coop wanted from him. He seems timid with his curve, and his fastball is not as effective. He had some great pitches last night, and the change-up for the final strike was nice. He seems to get too selective after two outs...almost as if he's trying too hard.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
Nice to see an extra inning win...especially on the road. I was impressed by Jones. He obviously can still hit. Last night's game was the first time I got to see Santos pitch. All I can say is wow. He's got nasty stuff. I'm moderately concerned, but not necessarily worried about Peavy. His next start will be very important. He needs to get back to the form he was in late last year.
