4/5/10 Opening day IGT. White Sox vs. Cleveland Indians
QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Apr 5, 2010 -> 09:55 AM) The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game: it's a part of our past, Ray. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again. Oh... people will come Ray. People will most definitely come. Click here for a special Opening Day message for Sox fans: http://bit.ly/9pSAXv Man, now I'm all emotional.

Wallpaper for 2010 season
Very nice!

I love it....
In Pennsylvania, the Monday after Thanksgiving is a "holiday" because of the first day of deer season. I think we should have the first day of Sox baseball off to go to the game or just sit on our duffs in front of our TVs with an ice cold beer in hand.

Real baseball. It's finally here. If only I had played hooky and got tickets to the game.

Does KW now make a play for Cust on the cheap?
I read the article this morning about Cust being sent down. It sounds like the As GM is either not very smart or playing a game. Either way, I wouldn't be surprised if Cust wants out of there. And there is probably more than one team that could use him. I wouldn't mind seeing him as a Sox, but my guess is that KW doesn't make a play. I think he and Ozzie are set on going with the Jones/Kotsay thing.

This sounds like one of those Facebook groups like "I bet this doughnut can get more fans than the Chicago Cubs".

White Sox Will Be Champions
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 2, 2010 -> 12:54 PM) No offense, but can we let 2005 go? At least when it comes to predicting future success for this team? 2005 was 5 years ago. That year didn't kick-start some kinda dynasty. No offense taken, but I wasn't comparing this team to the 2005 Sox. I was just making a point about predictions not meaning a lot.

White Sox Will Be Champions
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 2, 2010 -> 07:04 AM) Its amazing how much more solid a baseball writer becomes when they count the White Sox as one of the best. I've read for years on this board that Rosenthal was an idiot. I like Rosenthal's columns, but am concerned about his prediction. It appears his pre-season picks haven't been on the money. And he may still be an idiot for picking the Sox to win the World Series. It's definitely not a safe prediction. 162 games makes for a long-ass season, and anything can happen. I'm hopeful and moderately optimistic that the Sox can take the division, but beyond that I'm a little more nervous. If the Sox start the season strong, there will be plenty of conjecture and talk of a division win. But, if after 20 games they're 8-12, there will be much discussion of 2011. My point is that it's pretty damn early to start picking WS winners. I realize that is the job of sports writers, and Rosenthal's pick of the Sox is cool...just not a safe one...which makes it all that much cooler.

There's Something Wrong With These People
QUOTE (JorgeFabregas @ Apr 1, 2010 -> 07:23 PM) They are a family of lawyers who position themselves to offend the highest amount of people. In political science there is something called the median voter theory. The idea is that the politician who positions themselves closest to the median voter's policy preferences will win. These folks are doing the opposite. They triangulate political views to find the most offensive. Liberals don't like them, conservatives don't like them, Christians don't like them, etc. In this case I imagine they were represented by someone in the organization and I imagine they will be keeping the legal fees. I am under the impression that they hope that people assault them or infringe on their first amendment rights so that they can sue. That's a good point. You have to wonder, though, what goes through the minds of people like this. I'm no fan of the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, but supporting the troops is a different matter, in my mind. The sign "Thank God for IEDs" was particularly disturbing.

2010 Chicago White Sox Spring Training
No one wants to wish the weekend away, but Monday can't come soon enough. I haven't been as fired up about the start of baseball season in a long time.

White Sox Will Be Champions
I'm sure the statement has been made many times, in one form or another, but how many people figured the 2005 Sox would win the World Series? And looking bad at that year, many of us (myself included) would have never thought so in August during the death spiral. Everything came together in the playoffs, though. Imagine the pitching staff pitching like they are capable and the majority of the team staying healthy...gets you kind of excited doesn't it?

QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Apr 1, 2010 -> 10:03 AM) I'll have to take your word for it. Just seems like the guy doesn't do squat all year and then he has one really busy day and it's a big deal. If you think about it, that wouldn't be a bad bit. Just hang out at the beach drinking beer for 364 days a year and work one day. Of course that one day sucks...

Final Standings for AL Central
I agree about MN having some trouble adapting to their new home. I'm optimistic that the Sox stay healthy and win the division, but narrowly. Sox Twins -3.5 Indians -6 Tigers -9.5 Royals -11

SOXTALK'S BOLD PREDICTIONS
QUOTE (elgonzo4sox @ Mar 29, 2010 -> 05:57 PM) Not bad! But the Pirates are also a farm team for the Cubs. And don't forget that we have a divisional farm team, too - the Royals. This year we sent Pods, Getz, Fields and BA back down to AAAA, and brought up Teahen. And it may turn out to be a good deal for us...hopefully.

SOXTALK'S BOLD PREDICTIONS
QUOTE (LVSoxFan @ Mar 29, 2010 -> 03:01 PM) -At least 10 times Hawkeroo will squeal "STRETCH! STRETCH!" on-air only to watch the left fielder haul in the ball at least 10 yards before the warning track For sure. Imagine what he'll say about the Twins' new field when that happens. "Dagum wind".

Thank You White Sox
It's always nice to hear about organizations doing things like that for fans. Plus, it was a great gesture by your friend to write that letter. I'm sorry to hear about your loss. I couldn't imagine what you and your family are going through.

SOXTALK'S BOLD PREDICTIONS
The Twins have a horrible April, and the team holds an emergency press conference stating that they were not aware of "wind" and "cold" in Minnesota. The Pirates fold after going 1-22 in their first 23 ganes. Bud Selig allows them to become a farm team for the Yankees and Red Sox. All areas of the country outside of the Northeast get sick and tired of seeing the Yankees and Red Sox on ESPN 100 times a year and demand that something be changed. ESPN responds my re-naming Baseball Tonight "No Other Teams Matter Except for the Yankees and Red Sox."
