  1. Since there's not much going on in Sox world right now, maybe we need a new game. The rules are pretty simple. Name a city that begins with the last letter of the previously named city. For example: Boston...New York I'll start Naperville
  2. The last thing I am is a wealth of information when it comes to liquor. However, I do love a good margarita, and margaritas are my wife's favorite. I've had some good ones out at restaurants and bars. Sometimes even the plain old margaritas are made extremely well. One liquor that I have experimented with (for the first time at a restaurant in Tampa years ago) is Midori. A well made Midori margarita is one of my favorites. I haven't tried it, but I've heard that the Chipotle margarita at Outback is awesome. There's something else with the chipotle (pineapple?) but I can't remember. And Olive Garden has the Italian margarita...still have to try that, too. Thanks, now I'm craving a margarita.
  3. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 26, 2010 -> 08:03 PM) You can say pretty much the same thing about the Pirates. That's a team with a storied history that has hardly been relevant in my lifetime, and I turn 23 this year. Having grown up in Pittsburgh, I was a die-hard Pirates fan. At least until they decided to never compete again. Plus, their decision to do so happened around the same time as the strike. I lost interest in baseball until I moved here in 1999. I have since become a die-hard Sox fan. I still keep an eye on the Pirates, but it's so sad to see what has happened with that team. Awesome city with a great sports history and a beautiful baseball stadium puts out a minor league team every year. Very sad.
  4. I began a self-imposed diet the week before New Years, and one of the things I cut out was the finer things...during the week anyway. Although there are those days after work when I really crave a frothy brew, I haven't cheated yet. The one good thing about doing this is how good the beer tastes Friday evening. Damn, now I'm "thirsty". Only two more days.
  5. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jan 26, 2010 -> 08:06 AM) Lillibridge makes the most sense according to Ozzie's model. True, if Ozzie's model is a light-hitting, speedy lineup that...oh yeah. You're right.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 26, 2010 -> 08:04 AM) The big problem with Nix is he's probably not the greatest option as a LH hitter. Especially considering the fact that he's a right-handed hitter. I'm not saying he's the best option, but I think he's the most likely right now. Unless a LH bat is acquired who do the Sox have? Lillibridge? I'll vomit if that happens.
  7. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jan 25, 2010 -> 09:15 PM) Why is it old guys who join this team love the number 17? First Griffey, now Vizquel? I think they took their age and divided by three.
  8. Nix is the most likely in my mind. If the Sox aren't going to sign Thome then I don't see them signing Damon or Hudson. And I don't see any deals going down. Unless, like it has already been mentioned, KW picks someone from the scrap heap. It worked last year with Pods, but how many times can he get lucky like that?
  9. QUOTE (MattZakrowski @ Jan 25, 2010 -> 08:57 PM) That's how dire things are... Remember that Buehrle smacked a homer last year. He could due some double-duty and be out lefty power bat.
  10. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Jan 25, 2010 -> 10:39 AM) They'll pay me $3.25 to drink an MGD?? Almost worth it. I agree. But, an ice cold MGD is okay with the spicy peppers.
  11. Portillos serves beer, and it's quite reasonably priced. A large schooner of MGD or Lite is $3.25. Goes well with a combo and hot peppers.
  12. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 25, 2010 -> 09:17 AM) The only reason I've seen anyone give for why we don't bring Thome back is something like "its time to move on". No one has given a real reason why you'd want LESS productive hitters (by a long shot) over Thome. The only thing Ozzie can come up with is "flexibility". No one has a real reason. You hit the nail on the head here. "It's time to move on" is not a reason to not sign him. If the Sox had a chance to go after someone younger with power, well that's a reason. But due to money and other restrictions the Sox aren't really in the market for someone younger. And as far as flexibility, doesn't signing Thome actually add flexibility? Especially if he comes in knowing that he may sit when there's a left-hander on the mound.
  13. "So there she was just waiting for me. I slowly pulled down my - dammit, I'm going to have to call you back. I gotta do an interview."
  14. I hear Jim Edmonds is looking for work.
