Portillos serves beer, and it's quite reasonably priced. A large schooner of MGD or Lite is $3.25. Goes well with a combo and hot peppers.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 25, 2010 -> 09:17 AM) The only reason I've seen anyone give for why we don't bring Thome back is something like "its time to move on". No one has given a real reason why you'd want LESS productive hitters (by a long shot) over Thome. The only thing Ozzie can come up with is "flexibility". No one has a real reason. You hit the nail on the head here. "It's time to move on" is not a reason to not sign him. If the Sox had a chance to go after someone younger with power, well that's a reason. But due to money and other restrictions the Sox aren't really in the market for someone younger. And as far as flexibility, doesn't signing Thome actually add flexibility? Especially if he comes in knowing that he may sit when there's a left-hander on the mound.

"So there she was just waiting for me. I slowly pulled down my - dammit, I'm going to have to call you back. I gotta do an interview."

I hear Jim Edmonds is looking for work.

I used to love playing ultimate frisbee. I would probably die after running around that much now, though. Of all the one-handed (drinking) games, I think Bocce has got to be my favorite.

I do like Red Robin's burger with the fried egg. I've been there about 4 times and had awful service twice, but the food is good. Portillos probably has the best fast-food burger. Their double bacon cheeseburger is unbelievable. I found that the Brickhouse Pizza Pub in Crest hill has very good burgers. They have one with a fried egg, and it rivals Red Robin's.

White Sox agree to terms with Jenks and Quentin

Based on what Quentin could do if he stays healthy, $3 million is a steal. But like I said, based on what he COULD do. -
I've heard of this young man. He's apparently a decent pitcher. How did we acquire him?

I've never had an experience where I saw an actual apparition. The few experiences I have had were sounds, unsettling feelings, cold spots, etc. There was an old farm house that we would meet friends at to go hunting or just gather for a weekend. Supposedly the house was haunted by the previous owner (Ben) who died in the downstairs bedroom. There were plenty of things that happened that seemed like a haunting, but I know oftentimes we were just scaring ourselves. However, we would often hear footsteps and a rocking chair rocking in the attic. The strangest thing was we'd occasionally hear a phone ring, and there was no phone in the house.

QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jan 14, 2010 -> 10:58 AM) No ghost stories, but I can tell you about one seriously creepy UFO experience. Let's hear it.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 14, 2010 -> 09:27 AM) some of the shows certainly dont help my belief at all. The ghosthunters guys piss me off, all they do is scream and run around and act like idiots. I mean, if you really wanted a ghost to appear to you, you better stop getting freaked out every time something odd happens I think it's Ghost Adventures that has the muscle-head guy who taunts the ghosts. They can be pretty humorous, but whay would you want to piss off a ghost...especially a purported evil entity?

I suppose what really makes me believe is that my mom still swears to this day that she saw her mother years after she died. She says she was sitting in her bedroom where I was asleep in a crib (I had just been born) when her mother walked into the room, looked at me in the crib, smiled at my mom, and walked out. She said she wasn't scared at all. A lot of people have ghost stories and some seem credible, but this one pretty much seals the deal for me as far as believing.

I agree with the shows. There are too many, and most are pretty ridiculous. They'll take any background noise and try to make the viewers believe it's a voice.

If nothing else, I'm sure this will be a good thread to read when you need a scare. I do believe, only because I've had a few unexplained experiences. The one that I can't explain away happened when I was working part-time in a restaurant. I was sitting at the bar folding napkins before it opened when I felt someone place their hand on my back. I assumed it was one of the waitresses, but when I looked up into the mirror behind the bar no one was there. Strange.

The New Friend is one of my favorite of all time. The JFK spoof with the magic loogie is side-splitting.

QUOTE (SnB @ Jan 11, 2010 -> 04:39 PM) Elaine dancing gets me everytime. I use a line from that episode all the time when my wife asks about her dancing. I say it's like a "full body dry heave".

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 13, 2010 -> 10:49 AM) The poll question is what you think is LIKELY TO OCCUR. Not necessarily the same as what you WANT, which would be a silly poll, since basically everyone would want A-Gon. I realized the scope of the question, which is why I voted for Thome.

My grandfather was good friends with Bill Cowher's dad, and my dad knew Bill Cowher (they grew up about a block away from each other), although there was a significant age difference.

Who wouldn't want to see a trade for Gonzalez? In reality I see a re-signing of Thome, and I'd be okay with that.

I don't pay as much attention to other teams as I do the Sox, but I don't remember seeing many teams that rotated players into the DH spot. At least I haven't seen many successful teams do that. I have seen, however, some teams use a guy who is not so much of a power hitter as a DH. From the comments I've seen floating around, it seems that some would be comfortable with a guy who can smack 20-25 HRs, knock in 80+, and draw walks. I agree. The team has the speed, now they need some guys to move the speedsters along. I like the idea of Johnny Damon and even Thome. I just hope that KW makes a move so that we don't have to watch the potential debacle of a rotating DH.

QUOTE (striker @ Jan 12, 2010 -> 02:36 PM) For those of you that answered no, you were wrong. KW signed Ramon Castro!!! Well, it was A move.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jan 10, 2010 -> 08:12 PM) Lillibridge is a god awful baseball player who has absolutely no business being near a MLB roster. Period. Ding ding. Tell him what he's won, Johnny.

I voted no but am hoping yes. In reality, I don't see anything happening until closer to spring training, and I'm not even sure that will happen. The Sox need a DH, but I think KW is taking his time here. I wonder if his time-taking may lead to a re-signing of Thome. I wouldn't be against it, but I bet there are a couple better options available right now.

Remember when debit cards came about? Back then it was cool, now it's dangerous. Say you're strolling through Best Buy and you eyeball a 50" LCD. Not enough cash in your pocket, but you got that debit card!
