Every loss is magnified for us, mainly due to such a frustrating season. And for that reason it's hard to realize and accept that the Sox have been playing some of the best baseball in the AL since the all star break. Of course, there are other teams playing poorly that had been playing well. But that doesn't diminish what the Sox have done. It was awesome to see Moncada win both games with clutch hits. His reaction at first last night was the most emotion I think I've ever seen from him. Who'd a thunk Jose Ruiz and Vinny Vela would hold down the Astros and allow the Sox to come back and win?

Great finale of Better Call Saul last night. I think it wrapped things up quite well.

Huge win. I'm glad to have been wrong about the game after the horrid start. That game could have easily spiraled into an embarrassing loss as we've seen happen before. But Cueto just kept pitching and was superb as he has been all season. The late inning rally is something we haven't seen much of this season. Moncada's clutch 2-run single was huge, and it's great to see him come through. Maybe that will do something for his confidence.

This team needs to be booed mercilessly. Embarrassing effort.

Before the game, Cueto rallied the team and said, “Give me couple runs to work with!” Harrison and Leury obliged and gave him 2 runs to work against.

Regardless of whether they make the playoffs, this is not a team that can compete with the Yankees, Astros, Rays, etc.

Not a good start for a very important series.

The sweep of the hapless Tigers was nice. They've played shitty teams in the past and struggled, so this was a good result. But we've also seen this team play well for a stretch and then lie down and play TLR's game and get slaughtered. A split with Houston is the absolute minimum this team needs in order to keep the momentum. And winning tonight would be even better. Set the table for tomorrow's huge pitching match-up.

Eloy is bad in LF, but that was atrocious. Little league bullshit.

Kopech is fucking firing tonight, and the offense is asleep as usual. What a shame.

The Sox may somehow make the playoffs, but that does seem unlikely at this point. And even if they do, there's no way they can compete the Yankees, Astros, Rays, Mariners, etc. So, it's hard for me to imagine the Sox going into 2023 with TLR at the helm. Since it is Tony, and he's buddy-buddy with Reinsdorf, if he is relieved of his duties he'll be given some ambassador role or some shit. Fine, I don't care. Keep his ass out of the dugout. Aside from Katz, they should hire a new staff and actually focus on guys who understand modern baseball and statistics.

Does Tony want to talk more shit about Cueto calling out the team's lack of fire? Fucking clown is one of the main reasons the team has no fire.

Moncada and Grandal are my least favorite players to watch bat. Both at one time were so dangerous at the plate. Now they're both almost sure outs, unproductive outs. Moncada frustrates the shit out of me because he looked so damn good in 2019. He's a shell of that former player, and I honestly don't think we'll see that guy again. As I said, before, though, he's not getting any help from his manager or hitting coach. That has to be a factor, but I just don't know how much of a factor. He might just be broken.

He has power, but he's not tapping into it. He does have a ton of flaws at the plate, flaws that he didn't have in 2019 for sure. That's why I think he can be fixed. But he is really hurting this team right now. Honestly if he can return to even 2021 form, the bat is fine when he provides the defense he does. I'm not saying he will ever be the guy he could and should be. He might be the most frustrating player to watch on this team because of his potential.

His defense is very good at third. I wouldn't mess with that. He still has power, as evidenced by last night's blast. His hitting has fallen off a cliff, though. Some coaching from a real hitting coach would definitely help. Plus, he needs to be more aggressive early in the count. He watches good pitches way too often. Then he either freezes on strikes three or swings at bad pitches.

Martin did a nice job, too. Exactly what we needed him to do. Sosa's first home run and multi-hit game was a cool thing to see. He needs to start almost every game. Leury was absolutely useless yesterday, and he for some reason started both games. Moncada's nice defensive play followed by the big home run was encouraging. We need to see a lot more of that Yoan.
