For every home game, randomly select two fans. One fan takes an at-bat at a crucial moment, and one fan must pitch an inning late in the game. Select Saturday night games become "Sultry Saturdays". Adults only, clothing optional. The Fan Deck in the outfield becomes a fighting ring on select nights. Fans can sign up to fight past Sox stars like AJ, Konerko, Thome. Winning fans get free tickets. Losing fans get...free tickets.

I want to believe this. I really do. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt, but inaction moving forward will look really bad.

I don't know what the Sox might be on the hook for with the contract, but they can't wait around and see what the MLB investigation reveals. He needs to be released, like today. Sox look bad enough now for even signing the guy.

Between him and Hamilton, they should see time in the OF over Sheets until Colas is ready.

I think the only way this is possibly true is if the Sox believe Grandal is cooked. Problem is that no matter what they do, they're still stuck with Grandal's salary.

Right. This guy has career stats very similar to Leury and has been paid *breaks out calculator* about $8 million less than Leury over the past three years. And Leury is owed $11 million still.

This is the guy that should be on the roster vs. Leury.

Used sparingly getting the occasional start at 2B and in the OF, he's fine. He can play multiple positions and is a decent utility guy to have on the roster. TLR's blatant misuse of him, and the fact that he gets paid WAY too much money makes us despise the guy.

Hahn's comment yesterday that they don't see the team as complete leads me to believe they are still looking to add, hopefully at 2B. The options out there aren't great, unless they pull off a surprising trade. However, I'd rather them go into the season with a more sure option rather than relying on Sosa or Gonzalez being able to perform out the gate.

Yeah, which is why I believe he'll be with the Sox in 23.

Back to the TLR discussion. I see this as a case similar to when you give a toddler a broken iPhone to play with so they can pretend to be an adult. "Sure, Tony, come on by and hang out. Yes, we're all excited to see you. Just sit over there in that comfy chair and someone will be by to ask for your thoughts."

I'm of the mindset that what we saw out of Joe Kelly last year is not what we'll see in 2023. He was hurt when he was signed, started slow, and was injured a few more times. His track record shows that he is an effective reliever and at times damn near unhittable. I expect a much better year from him in 23. That being said, if there's a trade that makes sense and fills a hole (2B), go for it.

It's a trade that makes a ton of sense for both teams.

He's fed information and will often tweet stuff (like his latest) that gets the message across. And I think, as other posters have said, the Sox are saying "If you want Hendriks, you need to blow us away."

Finally started Yellowstone. I didn't really know what to expect, but I was hooked immediately. Kind of like a Western Succession. Even a bit of Game of Thrones in there.

Yeah, that was my first thought when I saw the Sox were on his list. I think he was well liked in the clubhouse, and he was obviously a fan favorite. He certainly wasn't worth the deal he got from the Mets. Aside from last season, Grandal was the better option.

No kidding. Wouldn't it be nice to at least have that optimism?

It's bad enough for us as fans of a team that has a $180 million payroll (let's not talk about WHO they're spending that money on). Imagine being a fan of the Pirates, Marlins, Reds, etc. Of course, if the Mets have a $400 million+ payroll and don't win the World Series, or even the pennant, or even make it far in the playoffs, what will their fans think?

What was the issue with the failed physical with the Giants? Wouldn't there be a concern that he'd fail a physical for the Mets?

I would think that finding a solution for 2B might be a bigger priority. However, if the team was indeed in on Murphy, they may not be as confident about the catching situation. I don't see them being able to do both unless some crazy trade(s) occur (like the McCann/Escobar - Leury/Kelly thought). I'd be surprised if they made a move for a someone who would be the primary catcher. Unless they decide to dump Grandal somehow, that would leave Yasmani as the backup C/1B/DH.
