  1. Panic probably isn't the right word. Concerned, for sure. Resigned, absolutely. This is a poorly managed team that, when it wins, is winning in spite of the manager. There are multiple players that need to play well, not superbly - just well, in order for the team to succeed. Many of these players are way underperforming and are not showing signs of getting back to their typical performance. Add to all that the injuries. Just when it seems like things are turning around injury-wise, someone else gets hurt. I haven't seen anything to make me believe this is a team that will compete, let alone win the division. I do think a change in leadership will make a difference. At a minimum, it sends a message. Beyond that, putting someone else in there who will look at the game from a 2022 perspective, manage a bullpen effectively, and for god's sake be honest and take some accountability will make a huge difference. This 2022 Sox team is being laughed at. They're even being talked about during other games on national TV. No, I'm not panicking. I'm resigned to this team not going anywhere, and I'm concerned it's only going to get worse.
  2. TLR's decision-making gets worse at time goes by. Yesterday's baffling move to intentionally walk a guy on a 1-2 count is about as bad a decision there is, especially because of the outcome. The entire baseball world is laughing over the move. I think most Sox fans agreed with Muncy's reaction after crossing home plate. It's past time to move on from TLR, but it will never happen unless he resigns.
  3. Cueto has been exactly what he needs to be. Another quality start, giving up a few runs. But once again no offensive support.
  4. HIs fastball is never straight. Tons of movement. And you're right, his motion looks relatively effortless compared to how the ball just explodes out of his hand.
  5. I think it's too easy of a call to DFA Harrison and send Sheets down when Eloy and TA come back. Any other moves, like sending Mendick down again, wouldn't make sense. They ate the cost of Keuchel, they can eat the cost of Harrison. It was a bad signing, and I'll fully admit I was okay with it at the time. Sheets needs more reps at AAA. He's been pretty much overmatched all season. Then, moving forward, Mendick gets the bulk of starts at 2B. Leury will get some starts at 2B and corner OF. Burger gets the occasional start at 3B and some DH time. Again, this makes too much sense, so I fully expect something different to happen.
  6. Kopech was awesome. His fastball had huge life, and he was throwing it for strikes pretty much all night. HIs breaking stuff was good and made better by the fact that he was throwing the fastball so well. It was nice for the offense to come through just in time for him to get the win. AJ Pollock woke up the offense with the double to right. That was great to see. Hopefully we'll see more of that AJ moving forward. Burger continues to be awesome at the plate. He's going to make it difficult for the FO come decision time when Eloy and TA return. After McGuire's embarrassing at bat with the bases loaded where he forgot he was the batter, he came back and delivered a clutch hit off a lefty (a struggling Price, I know, but still). McGuire's been better at everything than Grandal. That's more frustrating and depressing than it is encouraging. But he's been a bit of a surprise.
  7. Hell of a performance by Kopech. It’s going to be wasted, isn’t it?
  8. Worst offensive team in baseball. Horrendous at bats. Lifeless sacks of shit.
  9. Kopech’s fastball is nasty tonight. Nice to see him hitting upper 90s right away.
  10. Prediction: Vaughn and Burger sit, Leury bats 1st or 2nd, Grandal and McGuire are both in the lineup, Harrison plays vs. Mendick
  11. Just finished Severance on Apple+. Great show. And a hell of a cliffhanger. The first episode of Season 3 of The Boys was absolutely fucking bonkers. Looking forward to this season and seeing Jensen Ackles' Soldier Boy.
  12. I would assume one could dig a little deeper and see that plenty of teams that have used 35+ lineups had tweaks and small changes rather than daily lineups that look like TLR fed his dog a shredded list of batters' names and then made the lineup from the resulting pile of shit.
  13. Maybe we'll all look back at this thread at 6:00 and laugh because the Sox pulled out a win. I highly doubt it, and I'm glad I'm at work so I don't have to watch the game. This is so depressing because I was really looking forward to this season. I couldn't wait to settle down at night at watch my favorite team. I've since turned off more games than I've watched all the way through...by a large margin. And I'm less and less enthused about this team every day.
  14. "It's a long season. AJ will play a lot. Just trying to make sure he's not too tired for the plane ride home."
  15. Well, remember what TLR said yesterday. They need every left-handed bat possible in the lineup today! Holy shit, though. All four guys you mentioned are better options than McGuire at DH, regardless of which side of the plate they bat from. Laughingstock of MLB.
  16. So, Reese McGuire at DH is...interesting. For sure it's a puke-inducing lineup, but some of that is due to the poorly constructed roster. However, whoever had Leury leading off on their bingo card is happy today.
  17. Okay, I'll start today's game thread in hopes of turning things around. On paper, this looks like a potentially ugly game with the way the Sox offense has been "hitting". Hopefully Johnny Cueto can hold the Jays to a minimum of runs and our guys luck into a few runs. No brooms for them Canadian bastards! Go Sox!
  18. Sox will make the national highlights for the wrong reason tonight.
  19. Stupid, dumb, horrendous, shitty, useless damn team.
  20. I don’t know if I’ve ever been this frustrated with a Sox team.
