Very few people said that about TLR. This board was overwhelmingly against the hire. Most were meh on Cairo.

If Washington or Bochy end up being the right fit after a true search and interviews of multiple candidates, I'd be okay with that. With as dysfunctional this team is on the field, someone like Washington would be a good fit, especially with a younger manager-to-be as bench coach for a couple years.

I know they want to give TLR a graceful way to end his tenure with the Sox, and that's fine I guess. But I don't know how people like Nightengale can say with a serious face that the Sox would have been just as bad with another manager. I mean, just the use of Leury alone cost them several wins. Cairo all but kept Leury on the bench. The handling of the bullpen was embarrassingly bad at times, especially considering TLR was supposed to be a genius with bullpens. Not knowing rules, falling asleep in the dugout (on TV), throwing players under the bus, telling young superstars to take it easy and not hustle. Need I go on? Good riddance two years too late.

I'm not so concerned with the age of the next manager. If they hire a guy who will use analytics, be able to relate to the players while holding them accountable, and manage a lineup and bullpen effectively, I don't care how old they are. Some of the more intriguing names are Beltran, Espada, Quatraro, Bochy, Alomar. Just, let's stop talking about Ozzie and AJ. Neither would be a good fit.

I could see TA being traded. Andrus is signed as a one year bridge to Montgomery. I think they might shop Moncada, but his value is pretty low right now with the contract he has attached. So, any return would be light or have a bad contract included. Giolito could, and possibly should, be traded. His value is low but as low as Moncada's. Still wouldn't see a big return. I don't think Vaughn gets traded. If he's not traded and Abreu is re-signed, it does nothing to break up the log jam of 1B/DH. Eloy needs to be in the lineup everyday and out of the field, so he's the primary DH. That would mean Abreu is the primary 1B. And Vaughn is the odd man out again. Which means he plays an outfield position...again. Other guys that could possibly be traded: Lynn, Graveman, Hendriks, Bummer, Leury (insert laughing emoji here)

IL stints are one thing. Players playing hurt is another. Players being told not to hustle is yet another. Maybe there was some bad luck there, but there was plenty of poor managing and leadership.

We all know Reinsdorf isn't selling the team any time soon, so let's not even consider that to be a possibility moving forward. Hahn most likely stays, even though he should probably be canned. So, what we're going to get for 2023 is a new manager. Hopefully they make a wise hire this time. Then, it will be necessary for Hahn to put together a better team.

Not that anyone believe anything in this tweet, but why would AJ Hinch even be a consideration? Is there belief he's on the outs in Detroit? He is signed through 2025, correct?

The talent is there for the most part. There is certainly a lack of desire and effort. When you have leadership telling the team not to hustle, that sets a bad tone. These guys are doing a job, just like any of us doing a job. If there are guys dogging it and either being told to dog it or not being held accountable for dogging it, it's going to affect the entire team. This past series with the Guardians truly showed how bad this team is right now. Lazy, no interest, no accountability.

I want to see Lynn bitching out the defense between innings.

It's been a few years since I had no interest in watching a Sox game. Last night pushed me a lot closer to not wanting to watch tonight's game. What's sad is that it's not last night's game that makes this so bad. It has been the entire season Players made of glass constantly on the IL or "unavailable" Young, in their prime players being told to take it easy and not run hard Horrendous in-game managing Leury Garcia...well, being on the team and playing as much as he did Just about every player we needed to be good (not great, just good) underperforming Lackluster effort I'm tired and pissed off. What a disappointing season.

Sox need to find a way to dump Grandal in the off season.

Aside from being 78 years old, he could have some other health issues that have been flaring up recently. The play of the team and the pressure from the fans has to be taking a toll on him. Hell, it's taking a toll on us as fans. This certainly sounds like he could be out for the remainder of the season, which could lead to a soft landing upstairs (not heaven, that's not what I mean). If he is in poor health, I hope he get better.

I'm still thinking this is an exit strategy for TLR. Allow him to take a front office job with "less pressure". However, if he did have some sort of sudden health event, I do hope he recovers...and then retires.

It's not like they played a three game series against the Dodgers and got swept after a few bad bounces and bad luck. They got swept by the fucking DBacks because they played flat, lazy, terrible baseball. They want to be angry, be angry, but they need to be angry at themselves and each other. This team is cooked, and without wholesale changes (coaching staff), they're not going anywhere anytime soon.

At this point there's no reason not to fire TLR (or move him to some ambassador position where he can't fuck stuff up) and let Cairo or Super Joe finish the season. Hire a real manager for 2023 and beyond. Bring up some of the kids and let them play. Shelf Robert until he's healthy. Same with Eloy and Grandal. The season is over, and everyone knows it. Getting swept at home by the DBacks was the final nail in the coffin. This team has no life, no motivation. Players are just going through the motions. The team, and especially TLR, have lost the fans. And it's going to take some convincing to get us back.

I'm perfectly fine with adding Andrus, especially for his defense. His bat will be fine when compared to what the Sox were getting out of Leury, Sosa, and now Gonzalez in place of TA. Andrus would need to be the every day SS, which means Harrison and Sosa split time at 2B? Harrison gives you the edge with his defense, but neither are hitting much right now.

I think this is a best case scenario. Hopefully so, but if a guy like Andrus is added, an extra week rehabbing in Charlotte is less painful.
