  1. With many of our players, but for some reason especially Yoan, it's a case of what we have vs. what we want. And if someone showed Moncada's stats without revealing it's him, most people would LOVE to have that guy on the team. The Sox have one of the best 3B in the game that gets on base 40% of the time, and fans would love to have...well, one of the best 3B on the game who gets on base 40% of the time. But not Yoan Moncada.
  2. During Moncada's rough 2018, he struck out 33.3% of the time and walked 10.3% of the time. In 2019, which was an amazing year for him, he struck out 27.5% of the time but only walked 7.2% of the time. So far in 2021, he's striking out only 25.1% of the time and walking a robust 16.5% of the time. He's clearly getting better at the plate, despite his power numbers being down. I would hazard to guess that the power dip is temporary and he'll start hitting for power again soon. He's 26 years old and is one of the best 3B in the game. He contributes in the field with a really good glove and contributes at the plate by getting on base A LOT. Do you know how many teams would kill for a player like Yoan?
  3. SoxTalk: WAR is the most important metric in baseball! Also SoxTalk: Yeah, I know Yoan is on pace for 5 WAR, but he's just not that good.
  4. I'm going to the game Sunday, and I honestly don't know who I'd like to see pitch. Probably Rodon since it's against the Astros. Normally, I'd love to be at a game when Lynn pitches, but he's struggled against the Astros. But, if Lynn and Rodon pitch in the all star game, I could see a rotation of Giolito, Keuchel, Cease, Lynn, Rodon to start the second half.
  5. You'd think from reading some folks' takes on Moncada that he's performing like Conor Gillaspie or Mark Teahen.
  6. Kopech looks unhittable right now.
  7. Ferfucksake. I saw this thread had three pages and thought maybe there was some interesting information. No, it's 2.5 pages of arguing whether Cease is ReyLo-esque trash or not. Back to what started this, it's disappointing that the radio hosts would not only consider the proposal that Cease+ would fetch Joc but actually argue that Joc is possibly worth more. But, getting the thread back on track, it will be interesting to see if the Sox and Cubs engage in talks or even more. A Bryant/Kimbrel package would improve the Sox a lot and give them even more flexibility. Although I definitely could see those guys being traded, I'd be surprised if they went to the Sox.
  8. Let's continue the winning streak and go into the All Star Break on a high. Starts with Keuchel tonight.
  9. Finally. It has to be tough to call a game by watching a monitor. The Yankees announcer called a HR on a replay because they were watching a monitor and didn't realize it was a replay. And we've seen enough times where Jason was fooled by a fly ball, not knowing how far it was hit.
  10. I hope so. We don't need him blowing a hamstring or tearing his tit again going after a baseball. Let him hit the shit out of baseballs and drive in runs...and smile for the camera.
  11. What a boost for the offense coming. Get Robert and Grandal back in August and this lineup is scary as hell. Then imagine adding Gallo or Bryant or even Frazier (not Todd). Pray for the league.
  12. I know next to nothing about anatomy, but I know enough that having a medical argument with ptatc is probably ill advised.
  13. Although most of us knew it was right move, it's surprising the Sox did it. Whether a trade is coming or not, Eaton had no place on this team. Thanks for the first few weeks and the big 2-run HR in that extra inning game.
  14. TLR said Zavala will be catching today, and Engel is supposed to be activated and starting.
  15. Sounds like about what we expected, at least for time lost. It's going to be an ugly 4-6 weeks from the catcher's spot...offensively and defensively.
  16. It's a shitload of money, but damn would that solve some immediate and long-term issues for this team. If the Sox ate the entire cost, you'd think they wouldn't have to give up much. Could you imagine the Phillies fans reaction, though?
  17. It would definitely be bad if he's out for the season. There isn't any FA catcher who could realistically help, and adding a good catcher to potential trade targets just complicates things. They Sox would most likely have to roll with Collins/Zavala for the rest of the year, and that's a scary thought.
  18. Trevor Story would be nice, but he'd be a rental unless the Sox would try to extend him. Colorado may want too much for him for the Sox to be a real possibility.
  19. Pretty sure we knew about the hand issue. He did look better yesterday, though. I don't think he'll need an IL stint based on what we saw yesterday.
  20. Swing the fucking bat.
  21. They always find a way…
  22. ‘Bout fucking time Yoan.
  23. I’m only feeling good about Lynn and Rodon starts right now.
