NCAA basketball 2014-15 thread

The reason for 1 year of college is that the NBA wants a free year of scouting. The kept giving millions to HS kids and it is much harder to tell how good they are when they are playing HS competition. -
yeah remember 5 mil just gives you the chance to make a deal, its not $5mil for the player.

This is why you dont give in to demands: https://www.yahoo.com/movies/s/sony-hackers...-160704289.html At this point if I was Sony Id just leak it for free because no matter what those secrets are out there now, and you cant trust that the hackers wont leak them regardless.

Still surprised how many people defended Cutler last year. Not sure if this helps or hurts his trade value, but hopefully they can get some salvage value and move on. -

Its not about what the outsiders think they can do, its about what the people who are inside the program and the major donors want. Chryst/Bielema was a pretty big argument with Alvarez ultimately getting his way and Chryst being given full control of the offense. When Bielema left Chryst was their #1 guy by far. At the time he felt that it was not fair to Pitt to leave after they offered him a HC job, even though Wisconsin was really his preferred location. Whether or not hes good, who knows. But the reason they hired a coach so fast is that Chryst was the guy they really wanted 2 years ago, and so now that he was an option they didnt even look at other candidates. -

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 12, 2014 -> 10:57 AM) So it all works out best because they finally hired the coach that won't bolt for Oklahoma State in 2018. Exactly my point. lol No it works out because they got the coach that most Wisconsin fans have wanted since 2005. When they hired Andersen 2 years ago, it was only because Chryst didnt feel right leaving Pittsburgh after 1 year. He was their top candidate. So ultimately Wisconsin gets the guy they really wanted. -

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 12, 2014 -> 08:47 AM) Sounds like they are just looking for a coach who won't bail to a mediocre program in 3 years. lol You do know that Chryst was the guy they wanted over Andersen but he didnt feel right leaving Pittsburgh so quickly. So in the end it actually works out best for Wisconsin cause many people thought Chryst should have gotten the job over Bielema a long time ago. -

It was pretty clear last year Jay Cutler couldnt check out of plays. I wasted enough words on how terrible their front office has been since they hired Emery, not really worth anymore. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 10, 2014 -> 04:59 PM) Or something about Wisconsin makes it a place that coaches don't want to stay at after they get there. ? Since 1990 Wisconsin has had 3 head coaches. Bielema left because fans were pretty upset with him and prior to the Big10 championship that year there were rumors he was on his last leg there. Andersen is kind of shocking but it happens. -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 8, 2014 -> 08:57 PM) If you stack up their common opponents, Coleman out gained Gordon behind an inferior line. The stats are there. And are you saying best Wisconsin back ever? Maybe top three. He's no Ron Dayne. Hes better than Dayne. And yards against common opponents doesnt really mean much. A lot of games Gordon didnt even touch the ball in the 4th. Gordon is special. -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 8, 2014 -> 08:21 PM) And I finally saw statistical support of Tevin Coleman being more productive than Melvin Gordon, so the eye test was true. Not sure you can blame Gordon for the OSU game. Gordon is better than Coleman, Gordon is one of the best rbs Ive ever seen in college. By far best Wisconsin back. -

Its about money, if it was Texas or OK Big 12 would have had a much better shot. No ones taking a risk that Baylor/TCU can sell their ticket allotment and bring in the ratings OSU can. OSU deserved to be in it. -
Dark Side of the Moon is .99 on googleplay.

QUOTE (zenryan @ Nov 24, 2014 -> 08:25 PM) yeah because there is no way the problem makers wouldve held off because it was day time... A lot easier to control a situation when you can see what is going on. There may have been trouble, but nighttime just exacerbates the potential issues.
-
You know its pretty silly to announce it at night. Its almost asking for a problem.
-
All Im going to say is that a piece of paper saying I will pay you $1 million dollars isn't worth anything if I cant pay it. Good luck.
-
Cant see any reason he wont. With the Cavs he basically gets to control the roster and have a great life. Pretty sure he realized that he has a chance at championships anywhere, so he might as well be happy.

QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 10, 2014 -> 12:58 PM) Which is CRAZY because I feel like even if the bears played their own defense we'd stall out because of mental mistakes on offense. lol Its funny because its true. -

This isnt exactly surprising. Anyway hopefully its such a horrific disaster that everyone associated with the Bears is fired. -

The bigger meltdown is the Bears offense. Its just hard to believe they arent scoring more points. -

There is definitely a chance Sutton can be good. His main knocks were height and whether hed really commit to being great. He went to the same school as Burfict, another guy who kind of got looked over for some reason. -

The reason coaches are avoiding Illinois is likely money. http://www.usatoday.com/sports/college/salaries/ Not sure the accuracy but Illinois is at 60, which isnt something you jump at. -

Illinois is not a dead end job, its just a potential career killer. Unlike a Memphis job, there is a legitimate expectation that if you are the HC of Illinois you should be able to make a dent in the Big10 if you are looking to move onto one of the upper echelon schools. Its exactly like what a guy like Saban did at MSU.
