  1. Of course puppy mills are more regulated. Last time I checked you cant ask a female/male dog if they are okay with the situation.
  2. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 20, 2014 -> 01:50 PM) I was at a game either last season or the season before where someone, I think on the Royals, hit one into the last section of the club level down the LF line. Supposedly in BP, Barry Bonds hit one down the RF line in the upper deck that went into the last exit. Even roided up, that is quite a poke. Had a RF seat when Bonds played at the Cell one time. He hit a HR to RF that was the hardest hit ball ive ever seen. It was as if it had been shot out of a cannon.
  3. I probably used the service about 50 times last year. It feels like half of those times someone I was friends with had a complaint about how they were billed. Like I said, I have no problem using it, I just dont consider it a cheap option. Id rather walk a few blocks east, get a drink or 2, then catch a regular cab. Probably similar cost. edit Black car service is different than the taxis. The taxis seem to always be shady. Ive never had black car go bad, but its also more expensive.
  4. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 18, 2014 -> 08:31 AM) It warns you before the fares go up and its usually during times like big events or a horrible rush hour. Uber is the best thing ever. If you use uber a lot you may know that. But if its his first time I thought I should warn him. And its actually terrible. Its convenient, but they just rip people off. Theyll say "oh this wasnt uber" then you pay and then you get charged as well. Ive used the service a lot, Ive just had multiple bad experiences since they switched from "black car" to taxi. Ive also seen completely different charges then what they claim.
  5. Be careful with uber in chicago, I believe their rates flex depending on availability/time. If you dont want a bus, the green line gets you close enough to walk to the building. Since its march, bus should be fine, download the cta app so that you can make sure you get to the bus before its there and you should have no problems. After the game, I usually walk a bit east towards the city and eventually find a cab. Thats why people pay for uber, but i just dont want you to get a $50 bill.
  6. Sounds like he was into duos and not having to work for them. (edit) Im also kind of surprised they listed what drug he used. I wouldnt think theyd want people copying him.
  7. If we are getting Melo doesnt that presume we likely traded next years first?
  8. The problem I have with Melo is that hell be 30 to start next season. I dont think realistically you can believe that in Rose's first year back the Bulls will win a Championship. That means Melo will be 31 when they start taking shots to win. Basically giving them a 3-5 year window and having very little assets to make any other moves with. It just seems like you are boxing yourself in and if it goes wrong the Bulls are in hell until 2020. I think that you just have to see what Rose is going to be like at this point, unless you are getting guys in their early 20s.
  9. Im not even sure why people are directing their comments at me. Im the one saying you never know what will happen on draft day and that its somewhat silly to go back and say "What if". Im also not sure why its so important to get Anthony. It just seems like a move to make a move. With Rose uncertain Id rather have the picks and see if we can get lucky.
  10. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 14, 2014 -> 12:11 PM) But injuries wouldn't have been an issue with Bird vs. Greenwood. As the college player of the year in 1979 Bird averaged 28.6 points, 14.9 rebounds and 5.5 assists a game. Even though Greenwood probably could beat him in a 40 yd. dash, and probably jump higher than him, Bird was clearly the better player. Because players who put up the best stats are always drafted highest? Im not even sure Doug McDermott will be a top 5 pick, and hes likely going to be one (if not the most) productive player in this NBA draft class.
  11. QUOTE (bmags @ Feb 14, 2014 -> 11:58 AM) While it's cute to act like Oden was such a bonehead pick now, that guy was clearly the best player in college and there was nothing in the NBA for big men at the time. He and Howard would have dominated if not for his legs. Who said that he wasnt a great player in College? I loved Oden and likely would have taken him over Durant (unless of course there was a red flag with his knee but Im just presuming the Blazers arent that dumb after the Bowie incident.) The point is its easy now to say "Why would you pick Oden", its much harder when you dont have the luxury of hindsight. So youre basically making my point, its easy now to say "Why did someone pick Oden", it was much harder back then.
  12. Well Im not involved in the "top pick" discussion. Bird was a top pick, no doubt about that.

    2014 TV thread

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 14, 2014 -> 09:14 AM) Agreed. I dont know how they write that s***. I have to imagine its mainly just slight variations on their real life. I know that my friends and I were all joking about the Molly episode. So much truth.
  14. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 14, 2014 -> 11:12 AM) You weren't alive back then. No offense, but Bird and Magic were college basketball, and even if Rod Thorn thought Greenwood would turn out better, there is zero chance he passes on Bird. I wasnt alive back then. But youre arguing that no team has ever made a bad decision, no team has ever stupidly fallen in love with a player. So, sorry, unless you are actually Rod Thorn, you are just speculating. And its a waste of time to speculate, because it involves things outside of your control. Like you dont know if the Lakers would have picked Larry or Magic. But yes I get that in 2014 its easy to say what would have happened. Just like we can all say that there is no way the Blazers would ever select Sam Bowie over Michael Jordan or that Greg Oden would be picked over Durant. Oh wait. (edit) Now Im just confused. The Bulls did select Greenwood #2, they could have had Moncrief or Kelser, but picked Greenwood. Are you actually now arguing that the Bulls wouldnt have selected the player they actually selected at #2????? This is really confusing.
  15. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 14, 2014 -> 11:03 AM) I was alive back then. I can definitely say the Bulls would have drafted Bird. Bird and Magic were clearly the best 2 players in college basketball. You cant definitely say they would have drafted them. Someone passed on MJ with Bowie, someone passed on Durant for Oden. So while you can say "The Bulls could have had Bird", theres nothing to guarantee it. Not to mention: http://articles.latimes.com/1991-06-05/sports/sp-83_1_lakers Had the Lakers selected Larry, the Bulls would have gotten neither. So its pointless to speculate.
  16. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 14, 2014 -> 10:52 AM) There is no way the Bulls would have passed on Bird. How can you be so sure? The year before 5 players were picked in front of Bird, none of them were considered as good of prospects as Magic or David Greenwood. So you cant just say "Oh the Bulls would have definitely drafted Bird."
  17. I wasnt alive but allegedly Greenwood was pretty highly regarded and some believed as good (if not better) than Magic. So its impossible to say.
  18. Rose likely can be serviceable. If not the entire ship is sunk because you cant have that huge contract and not even get average production.
  19. The Bulls are still going to need a SG/SF (likely both). The good news is its a deep draft.
  20. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Feb 13, 2014 -> 05:30 PM) So reverse discrimination is OK if it's a government employee?? I dont believe I said that. I believe that the govt is probably more concerned about discrimination complaints than a regular employer and thus may be quicker to settle. I dont know what happened, I wasnt there. I represent private clients, they dont just give away jobs due to a threat of litigation.
  21. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Feb 13, 2014 -> 05:27 PM) I wasn't comparing anything to private employers. I was talking about how I have personally been f***ed over three times by EEO laws. That may or may not be the case, but (at least I was) talking about private employers, so that does not include federal employees.
  22. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Feb 13, 2014 -> 04:34 PM) You've probably never had clients as incompetent as the Federal Government. So you work for the federal govt and were comparing private employers? That would be the disconnect.
  23. Sounds like maybe you need better legal?? Or maybe you arent privileged to all of the facts, because I dont have many clients who just roll over and play dead for no reason. Its usually when I find that theyve done something really wrong and I dont want the powers to be to know about the even worse action so I just settle the first.

    Job Hunt Thread

I have no sales experience, want to hire me? Im good at convincing people of doing things I want.
  25. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Feb 13, 2014 -> 01:46 PM) I don't when it requires someone to act in a way they don't want to. From a government perspective, yes. Everyone should be treated equally and fairly. But for private citizens? No. I think if you want to be a dick, you can be a dick. Again, with today's technology and our culture, if you step outside the realm of social acceptability you are quickly out of business. I'd rather let nature play its course there instead of forcing another set of requirements on someone. So what happens if the majority of apartment buildings make a rule that they wont rent to Jewish people, because Jews killed Jesus and that offends them. Its fair that Jews have to live in the few apartments that will allow them? Im not saying I have the answer here, Id prefer that everyone can be a douche and judged for it, I just also concede that historically the majority has made terrible rules to screw with minorities, so I do give some deference to the idea that I cant trust the majority to act fairly. Maybe its a cynical jaded perspective, but I think its the safer perspective.
