  1. You might be the only guy in the Western Hemisphere who thinks that the Nets have the potential to clinch a Top 3 seed. Let's see, who's gone? Martin, Kittles, Harris, Williams, Mourning, etc. Kidd has been injured. Who's coming to save the day? Vince Carter.
  2. Palehose, you've got the craziest f***ing avatar that I've ever seen.
  3. Yeah, sadly mistaken. Their PF/C rotation. :puke And Kidd's supposed to be gawn in the near future...
  4. I must have been vegetating, because I never noticed. Then again, my White Sox morale was at an all-time low during the second half of last year for a gang of reasons, primarily the USCF hitting conditions. I don't think that I caught even one game during the month of September.
  5. Holy crap, I just checked his numbers from last year. Right-handers only hit .169 against him on the season. I never even noticed.
  6. Worst FA signing in recent White Sox history: Jose Paniagua Worst trade ever: Believe it or not, the White Flag trade. Keith Foulke and five guys who are no longer in the majors....we could have done so much better, in retrospect. Actually, I think that Bob "Butt" Howry is still on some 40 man roster...I know that he's been injured.
  7. Lamar Odom is an all-star caliber player. Lamar's Profile Eddie Jones has seen better days, but he was still an above average player during the 2003-2004 season. Eddie's Career Stats But Eddie's numbers are besides the point. Veterans do the little things that don't show up in the box score. Even lousy teams like the Warriors and Hornets have some key veterans that could mesh well with young talent...if they actually had any. We have a s***load of young talent to go along with zero quality veterans. In most cases, you're not gonna be able to close out games with a team like that. The Cavaliers have some key veterans. Ilgauskus is almost 30. Cavaliers Depth Chart The 2003-2004 Milwaukee Bucks were a solid veteran team (Redd, Van Horn, Smith, Kukoc, Mason, etc) to go along with TJ Ford. Kukoc is injured most of the time, but he can give you some solid veteran know-how off of the bench when healthy, at least on the offensive end. Toni's Profile Van Horn kicked a little ass last year -- check the stats. Van Horn's Profile Desmond Mason is solid when healthy -- again, check the stats. Mason's Profile Joe Smith might have been the biggest bust out of the #1 draft slot in the 90s, but again, there's some veteran know-how there. Smith's Profile You really think that the Bulls could compete with a healthy veteran squad like the Bucks? No way. This is not to say that the Bucks are a very good NBA team...I think that they're above average to good. But if they had some killer young talent to mix in like the Bulls have? They'd kick some ass. They have TJ (who has yet to play this year), but little else.
  8. Seriously though, did anyone on here catch my Milwaukee Avenue reference? You know, the Polish mecca of the United States, right here in Chicago? Polski Polski? I was expecting a , a , or perhaps a :fyou
  9. Randy is just one particular SP that I used as an example. You could throw any elite SP into that 80/20 argument.
  10. Well, going by this 80/20 logic, one would be just as happy to land AJ Pierzynski as they'd be to land Randy Johnson, because Randy only participates in 20% of the games. Sorry, I couldn't resist. I've noticed that you know your baseball, though, so this absurd baseball thought is isolated in my eyes.
  11. And this is on the strength of what? Because we're out East? I look around, and I see at least 12 Eastern Conference teams that are better than we are. Again, I can't stress this enough: WE HAVE NOT ONE SOLID VETERAN.
  12. I've heard over and over and over again that he'd be watching Twins games instead of studying opponents on numerous occasions. That's the primary beef that people have with him, IIRC. While I would absolutely looove to have a guy with his type of personality on the Sox, I dunno about his study habits. They'd love him on Milwaukee avenue, though.
  13. Curry is coming into his own? You mean like the year before last year when he shot 58.5% from the field? You trade him now, because he's gawn after this season for certain.
  14. They had key veterans in Odom, Grant, Jones, and others to mix in with that young nucleus. We have Antonio Davis? I don't see the connection. You CAN NOT win 30 or more games in this league when everyone in your starting lineup is in the 21-24 age bracket. I have yet to tune in for a game this year...I'm not interested in torturing myself.
  15. I think that Mohammed is the frontrunner for Most Improved Player in the NBA right now. Mohammed's Game Log He leads the league in offensive rebounding. He's shooting 55.5% on the season in 191 field goal attempts. He damn near had a triple double yesterday with 8 points, 9 rebounds, and 8 blocks. He's developing into a damn good player. I dunno where he's been for the past few years, but better late than never.
  16. Yeah, me too. I am very excited about that aspect of our team.
  17. Matt Clement Before the AS break: IP: 117 ERA: 2.17 WHIP: 1.18 BAA: .217 K: 123 After the AS break: IP: 63 ERA: 5.09 WHIP: 1.46 BAA: .250 K: 67 You can't ask for $8 to $10 million per year after having that bad of a second half, injury or not. I'd like to see him in a Sox uniform, but for much cheaper than what he's asking.
  18. Correction on that 2.77 ERA...it was actually 2.63 on the road. That is remarkable.
  19. Buehrle at home: IP: 129 ERA: 5.02 WHIP: 1.42 BAA: .306 HR allowed: 22 Buehrle on the road: IP: 116 ERA: 2.63 WHIP: 1.07 BAA: .229 HR allowed: 11 I have said time and time again on here how disgusted I am with USCF. I'd take a wrecking ball to tha place if I had the option. We might as well just play our games at Lane Tech.
  20. That road ERA doesn't tell you anything? Put him in a neutral stadium and he's a Cy Young Award candidate. You initially stated that Clement is much better than Buehrle. Then you say that Buehrle is great. What does that make Clement? :rolly Like I said, absurd baseball thoughts.
  21. Kelly is/was without a doubt my favorite Sox player to listen to on the radio. The guy is absolutely hilarious.
  22. f*** that, Kelly was the man. I hope that he thrives in L.A.
  23. I open up this thread and BAM! right off the bat I'm hit with absurd baseball thoughts. Buehrle had a 2.77 ERA on the road...in the American League! Are you sure that you're a Sox fan? This is why I usually stay away from these threads.
