And now he's being a little attention whore once again in the "Is Frank a Hall Of Famer?" thread. People are putting together well-constructed arguments for Frank, and he counters with "Thomas nor Bagwell should be in". Is that it? Wow, thanks for playing and come again. And I'm not playing favorites here. Actually, I don't even like any of you.

Whenever Bush put on that cheesy grin, it meant that he was getting redy to pull the "flip-flopper" card. Pure comedy.

Frank Thomas-Will he make the HOF?
hammerhead johnson replied to BainesRules's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Black Ink: Batting - 21 (96) (Average HOFer ~ 27) Gray Ink: Batting - 189 (46) (Average HOFer ~ 144) HOF Standards: Batting - 53.5 (54) (Average HOFer ~ 50) HOF Monitor: Batting - 179.0 (48) (Likely HOFer > 100) Look at how Frank blows away the likely hall of famer in HOF Monitor (especially) and the average hall of famer in Gray Ink. For those of you who question Frank's HOF worthiness, I dunno how you can ignore stuff like this. But continue to vegetate, by all means. -
I know hardly anything about politics, but I have been watching these debates. I can't call this one a victory for either side. Bush got slaughtered on the health care issue...I know that much. He conceded that our health care system is f***ed up right off the bat when he was like "Well I sure as hell hope it's not the administration's fault!". That's comedy.

By the time Frank's finished, he should have 500 HR, 1000+ extra base hits, 2700+ hits altogether, and 1750+ walks. That extra base figure is no joke...there are only 24 guys in that club as of now, and Andre Dawson is the only one not in the Hall Of Fame. From the looks of things, Dawson will never make it. Sutter and Rice got more votes than he did earlier this year. That is what I would call a travesty, my friends. Frank will enter his 16th season in a White Sox uniform next year, and he has a career OPS of 996. Let's just say for the sake of argument that he finishes with a 975 or 980 OPS. Show me one guy in the history of baseball that had a 975 OPS or better, and was left out of the hall. Let's call it a minimum of 7500 total plate appearances. ALL-TIME TOP 10 IN OPS 1. B Ruth 1.159 OPS in 10617 TPA 2. T Williams 1.115 OPS in 9789 TPA 3. L Gehrig 1.075 OPS in 9660 TPA 4. B Bonds 1.053 OPS in 11584 TPA 5. J Foxx 1.034 OPS in 9670 TPA 6. H Greenberg 1.014 OPS in 6096 TPA 7. M Ramirez 1.010 OPS in 6575 TPA 8. R Hornsby 1.000 OPS in 9475 TPA 9. F Thomas .996 OPS in 8478 TPA 10. M McGwire .982 OPS in 7660 TPA -

"Make me dinner, b****!" is good, although it sounds more like something that would be said in an actual relationship...in a trailer park. Sally is trying to tell you what not to say when you're attempting to pick up some slut at a bar, a club, the library, etc. I'm sorry if I offended any of the sluts here at soxtalk.

That is one hell of an argument that you have there, Butters! :sleep -
I'm sorry to hear about that, man.

Yeah, tell me about it. Another guy who you would never want on your actual team but you absolutely have to have on your fantasy team is Stephon Marbury. He is a paper superstar. His teams will never win anything, but god damn is he a nice fantasy player. -

He saw something that he liked in Zach during the 2002-2003 season. I listened to what he had to say, went and looked into it afterwards, read a few things here and there, and poof! (biting danman here, who bit hawk) I had him on my squad. And the early returns were beautiful. Here are some of his performances from last November: 21 points, 13 boards 20 points, 16 boards 29 points, 9 boards 18 points, 11 boards 28 points, 14 boards 25 points, 19 boards 17 points, 10 boards 21 points, 8 boards 24 points, 15 boards 26 points, 9 boards That's one hell of a fantasy player. A select few major basketball geeks saw this coming, but not me. -

My buddy was big on Zach Randolph as well...that's probably why I went after him. Zach sure as hell can't play any man to man or help defense, but he has some of the sweetest post moves of any player in the league right now. -

There were two guys in my league that I had absolutely no business beating. I remember one of them picking up Radmanovic. I didn't think much of that move at the time, but 160 3 pointers from a power forward could work wonders for your team if you're trying to make up ground in that area, which I was. Never again will I sleep on the 3 point specialists, because the lack of those types of players is what really buried me early on. And I drafted Ray Allen and Elton Brand...both of those guys missed the first 20+ games of the season for their respective teams. I wasn't looking good at all. -
How about next Monday at 7:30 PM central time?

Oh yeah...Camby will be gone for certain this year. Nobody expected him to do much last year because the guy is always injured. I doubt that I'd have picked him up either if not for the fact that Ilgauskus and Curry were my only centers going into the season. Then I dropped Curry for Dalembert in either November or December...can't forget about that move. That contributed to my 1st place finish as well. God damn was it a struggle. Actually, if not for picking up a bunch of 3 point specialists down the stretch (Damon Jones, Jon Barry, Chucky Atkins), I wouldn't have won. I think I was 8th out of 12 teams in 3 pointers going into the final month, and I finished 4th. That's your difference, right there (combined with the free agents and what not). Everyone will have a damn good core in fantasy leagues...it's the little things that will get you over the hump. I'm in Soxtalk League #1. -

Is there any way that you could copy and paste the list of free agents available in your league? Last year I picked up Camby and Randolph on the free agent list before the season started, and those two guys were pretty much the difference for me, as I barely won the league that I was in. You have a kick ass squad outside of Raef and Tinsley. The latter should provide plenty of steals, however, but not much else. -
By hype I meant all of the talk about Shaq immediately turning them into a championship contender. Sorry, I should have worded that one better. Fred Taylor's 5 year history: 1999 Jacksonville 10 Games 2000 Jacksonville 13 Games 2001 Jacksonville 2 Games 2002 Jacksonville 16 Games 2003 Jacksonville 16 Games And he wasn't anywhere near 100% in 2002 or 2003. That is reflected in Jacksonville's combined record over those two seasons. That is not to say that Taylor is the only reason they lost so many games...the team as whole lacked depth. He actually averaged 4.6 yards per carry, but as you probably know if you've caught Jacksonville games over the past couple years, he's always good for that one long run.

There's something very wrong with this picture. Hypothetically speaking, if Miami wins their division with a 43-39 record and lands that #3 seed (the 3 division winners get the top 3 seeds), they could lose home-court advantage to a 6th seed team with a 44-38 record like the Milwaukee Bucks in the first round! Now is that f***ing retarded, or what? Who dropped the ball on this one? Or is it just me? Hopefully, it's just me. :headshake

Shaq has had so many little nagging injuries...they add up over time. Think about his knees, his age, etc. Basically, saying that Shaq will be healthy this year is almost like saying that Fred Taylor of the Jaguars will stay healthy...there's no precedent for it. But I stress the lack of depth on the Heat first and foremost. Having a bench that is comparable to the Charlotte Bobcats will NOT get you 50 wins. I don't care how bad your division is...after all, they will only play the teams within their division 4 games a piece. 16 games is not even 1/5 of their total games.

Those guys are the second tier along with Haynes, Brown, Grey, and Green. Damn are we looking good. And a CB with that 1st round pick in 2005? Ooohhhhh yeeeeaaaahhhh!!
-
A strong defense for a few years now? Yes. A devastating defense? No. That's what we could very well have from 2005-2008. The future is looking good.
-
Urlacher, Brown, Tillman, Ogunleye, Harris, and Briggs? That is one of the best young defensive cores in the league...it's beautiful. I'll take that bet.
-
Indeed. Actually, the Bears are worse considering that the Packers still have a healthy offensive line and one of the best running backs in the league. But we are stacked on defense...it's a beautiful thing. Hopefully, all of the key players can stay healthy next year.
-
Yep, although Hatley drafted Urlacher and Brown. But that draft last year...Tillman in the 2nd round and Briggs in the 3rd round? Brilliant! What a man, what a man, what a man, what a mighty good man.
