Like I said before, I'd pay top dollar for a highlight reel of Barry Bonds getting plunked. Hit the deck, melonhead.

This is why we have an illegal immigration problem.

I think that we need to keep them out at all costs, but first, we should give them back California, Texas, Nevada, Arizona, Utah, New Mexico, Colorado, and Wyoming. -
The "SEX" part of SLAM is really lacking here

QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Aug 4, 2007 -> 08:20 PM) For some of the conservative types, strangest might mean the kitchen. lol Even the kitchen scene strikes me as odd. I like beds and couches. -
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 4, 2007 -> 01:35 AM) You are seriously comparing Heath Bell and the stats he's put up with Petco against Bobby Jenks. For what it's worth, Heath has better overall numbers on the road, albeit not by much. But you're right. The best closers are of the lobotomized variety, and we don't know what Heath is capable of.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Aug 3, 2007 -> 08:37 PM) When the cards fall next year, where do you see Boston ending up? Top 8? Top 5? Top 3? I see them making the playoffs, but i just dont know if their bench depth(or lackthereof) will allow them to compete with teams who will consistently throw fresh bodies at them. And if any one of thier big three goes down, they will be in some serious trouble. It's difficult to say. I'll usually avoid making any predictions, but I can see them challenging for the Eastern Conference title if Rajon Rondo and Kendrick Perkins are as good as I think they are. We'll have a better idea right around the ASB. The Bulls present a nightmare matchup, what with our perimiter scoring, bench depth, team defense, etc. We have the market cornered on energetic freaks. I absolutely loved the Joakim pick.

Chris Young article on ESPN.com
hammerhead johnson replied to Getupstretch39's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE(Getupstretch39 @ Aug 3, 2007 -> 05:30 PM) "Not that I would ordinarily get that involved with guys' names," Moorad says, "but I feel that this is a player who deserves to have his own identity. I think he should have it as Chris Young. With all due respect to the San Diego version, we like the Arizona version a lot." My ass. Check the splits: SP Chris Young Hell, he should get some MVP votes in addition to winning the Cy Young award. That Arizona GM should just keep his mouth shut. Most baseball fans are gonna look like this after reading that nonsense. -

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Aug 3, 2007 -> 04:51 PM) I'd say he's 4/10 the player, but thats just me! I had him on my fantasy team too, but I can distinguish between fantasy and reality.

QUOTE(Spiff @ Aug 1, 2007 -> 08:58 PM) I don't think some of you even watch basketball, nevermind the Celtics. Rondo a scorer? What? Jefferson better numbers than Garnett next year? What? Three ballhogs? What? I feel your pain. They have one dominant scorer on the perimiter, one in the mid-range, and one in the post. Y'all should be talking about that balance on the offensive end, but I ain't seen hamburgers. The Nuggets? That ain't balance; that's chaos. What's gonna hold the Celtics back from winning a championship? Team defense and bench depth. They have a potentially dominant perimiter defender in Tony Allen that most casual fans have never even heard of, and then you have Kendrick Perkins, whose shot-altering potential is immense (if he can lay off the cheeseburgers). However, most teams will be able to score at will against Ray Allen and Paul Pierce. Hell, I could score on those guys. What you have are major highs and lows; you got paint defense, which reigns supreme, but then you have some of the worst perimiter and mid-range D in the NBA, minus Tony Allen. I'd like to see a terrific on-the-ball defensive PG like Marcus Banks running the point, but Danny Ainge wouldn't really know anything about that.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 31, 2007 -> 09:51 PM) especially considering Jefferson might have better numbers than Garnett this season. I like Big Al's post moves and rebounding, but he's one of the weakest defenders out of the PF slot in the entire NBA. I mean, he's really bad down there, and despite the fact taht he's still a baby in NBA terms, he has little to no defensive upside. Meanwhile, Kevin Garnett is a defensive legend, the best rebounder in the league, the best passer out of the PF slot, and a threat to score 25 to 30 damn near every game. I don't want to hear about Big Al having better numbers. He ain't even 1/10 of the player that Kev is.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 10, 2007 -> 08:16 AM) BTW, when it's all said and done, Ryan Howard (and possibly Prince Fielder) will have more HR's than Bonds, Griffey, Pujols, Rodriguez, etc. I see that you have moved on to more potent drugs.

QUOTE(Rooftop Shots @ Jul 24, 2007 -> 12:17 AM) If they lose and do poorly, I'll go down with them till the end. If everyone else on the board cannot do the same, I can't but help question of how loyal of a Sox fan that you say you are. Yeah, loyalty must be my issue b/c I can't tune in for this complete and utter suckfest. -
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 19, 2007 -> 09:16 PM) Houston could be deadly next year if Francis ever passes... Adding a guy as talented as Steve Francis to a core that includes Yao Ming, Tracy McGrady, and Shane Battier looks great on paper. In reality, dude is just a complete waste of space and he makes you infinitely worse from a chemistry standpoint. The Rockets don't really have much of a plan. I mean, analyze their moves. What in the hell are they building towards?

Braves made offer to White Sox
hammerhead johnson replied to AWhiteSoxinNJ's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
QUOTE(Fantl916 @ Jul 23, 2007 -> 04:48 AM) Thank you, somebody finally said it... How can the guy who leads the AL in wins over the last two years be a league average pitcher. Just because he doesn't tear it on your fantasy team doesnt mean hes average... hes very solid, reliable, and consistent... and sometimes for a pitcher those are ingrediants that equal keeping your team in games and always giving them a chance to win Yes, the Russ Ortiz theory. -

Jon Boy's resume kinda sucks, though. He usually struggles to keep his WHIP ratio under 1.40, and he only strikes out 4.5 batters per 9 innings. In fact, I can't think of anything that he does particularly well. That said, a lot of baseball people are gonna look at his win totals over the past few seasons and completely overrate him, so let's use that to our advantage and swap him for some quality prospects. -
Expect Mets to seriously pursue Iguchi
hammerhead johnson replied to Gene Honda Civic's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
Well, he's an automatic out against lefties, and his splits against right-handed pitchers are way too inconsistent from year to year. You can't hit like .057 one year and then hit .360. That hamburgers ain't right. -

QUOTE(WHITESOXRANDY @ Jul 12, 2007 -> 04:07 PM) Why is that other GM's have taken advantage of the Pirates like Hendry gut Ramirez and Kenny Lofton for nothing. Shouldn't Kenny be able to talk Pitt. out of Jason Bay RUNAWAY MEATBALL!!!! -

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jul 21, 2007 -> 07:17 PM) Unless, of course, he's just coming into his own right as he enters his prime! I don't know how he's doing it. If you look at his May and June splits, he kicked some serious ass. I'm gonna err on the side of caution here an go with Greg. You don't just come alive at the age of 29. He's basically the guy that backs up other back-ups. A Triple A all star.
