  1. QUOTE(JDsDirtySox @ Oct 1, 2007 -> 08:07 PM) So what did I say wrong this time? It is widely known among Baseball Scouts that Peavy sometimes has trouble controlling/harnessing his emotions. I would say history (only 2 game albeit) shows signs of that. People presume that he can't control his emotions in big games because of those two playoff performances. It's not the other way around. Show me a scouting report that had him pegged as mentally fragile before he ever made a playoff appearance. My problem is with the sample, and anyone who makes definitive assessments on the strength of such a small body of work. It's the Frank Thomas effect.
  2. Holy sh*t, check out the timing of this thread. I just switched from Direct TV to Dish Network on Friday.
  3. QUOTE(JDsDirtySox @ Oct 1, 2007 -> 04:03 AM) You are right Sparky... sorry if his 8 Earned Runs in his 2005 Start, or his bad outing last year led me astray. And in getting caught up in the wording... maybe we can agree whether you want to call it postseason, playoffs, or regular season one game playoff... Peavy hasn't exactly pitched lights out. I'll give you the hat trick for not realizing that a 26 year old Peavy is better than the 25 or 24 year old version. And again, two games don't mean jack squat. The sparky thing was supposed to hurt my feelings, yeah?
  4. QUOTE(JDsDirtySox @ Oct 1, 2007 -> 01:12 AM) hasn't Jake Peavy pitched awful in almost all of his postseason outings? He has only started two games in the postseason. Samples don't get much more definitive than that, yeah? And besides, tomorrow's game is a regular season contest. That's two. Go for the hat trick.
  5. QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Sep 28, 2007 -> 07:27 PM) I caught this scent before. I think it was on the shores of Lake Michigan.
  6. Ribbie, you should lend him your shirt with the rainbow design. You know, the one that is pretty much a staple of your wardrobe. That way, he'll fit right in on "Cub Pride" day.
  7. QUOTE(knightni @ Sep 26, 2007 -> 06:17 PM) Huntermeyer... heh. God damn it, I have Troy Aikman disease.
  8. Opening day starters: DE: Ogunleye (bad hip) DT: Injured DT: Injured DE: Anderson WLB: Injured MLB: Urlacher SLB: Huntermeyer CB: Injured FS: Injured SS: Archuletta (broken arm) CB: Injured I've never heard of anything like this. They're all soft, just like Cedric Benson.
  9. If you drive right after smoking a joint, paranoia sets in, and you become an awesome driver by default. Now, you might get lost on the way to your destination, but you do not pose a threat to other drivers. If you see someone doing 45 in a 55 on the expressway, that dude just smoked a joint. Either that, or they were alive during World War 1.
  10. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Sep 21, 2007 -> 09:46 PM) Craig Biggio begs to differ. I beg to differ as well. I set HBP records at Portage Park. HBP = my fondest baseball memories I'm not gonna let you take that away from me, Steve.
  11. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 20, 2007 -> 08:26 PM) It's two separate people, and the one with the height/weight is the entertainer/athlete. Cool. What article did you read?
  12. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Sep 20, 2007 -> 08:21 PM) I took it to mean a Mass. athlete and another guy 6'5" 276 lbs. Is it one guy in the ESPN article or 2? The ESPN article is poorly-written. It may or may not be two separate individuals. It's hard to tell from this excerpt.
  13. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 20, 2007 -> 07:57 PM) We don't have a name yet, but this time, everything except the name has been published by others, including the NY Daily News and ESPN. Oh sh*t, it's not a baseball player, unless Pappy's listed weight is off by 45 pounds. Who gives a flying f*ck if it's a wrestler. I guess that the whole "entertainer" thing kinda gives this one away.
  14. It's Papelboner. Seriously though, David Ortiz has been a huge fatass throughout his career. His HGH = boxes of twinkies. I'm not buying that one. If I were to put money on someone, it would be Mike Lowell, what with all of the injuries and the desire to recover from them, etc. I could be wrong about David Ortiz, though.
  15. QUOTE(greg775 @ Sep 20, 2007 -> 04:30 AM) I nominate this for post of the century. Amen brotha. Yeah, I agree. I especially like the part about drafting a fruitcake in the 17th round. That would be great for team chemistry.
  16. I'm a member of the group that is bringing "logic and reason" to the table, and here is my counter argument: BRYAN BULLINGTON Nuff said.
  17. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Sep 19, 2007 -> 01:31 PM) Just buy the DVD's... you will love them. I've watched all three seasons more than 5 times apiece lol. You can watch all three seasons at the following link (except the last few, I don't know why. http://www.tv-links.co.uk/listings/1 You can rent the dvd's at blockbuster, or the show is aired on G4 sporadically. I'd go with buying the DVD's, but that's because it's my favorite show of all time (sorry, Seinfeld.) Cool, thanks for the info. I'll check 'em out on that tv-links website.
  18. Scrubs? Dukes Of Hazzard? Wonder Years? None of these shows can touch Pee Wee's Playhouse or Spongebob Squarepants.
  19. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 19, 2007 -> 04:07 PM) Dinner is almost always 100 bucks What are you talking about? Chef Boyardee is like $1 per can. Crazy mother*ucker
