  1. Agreed, of course with the added facts of no key everyday players or starters. I.E. Buehrle, Garland, Maggs, Harris etc, etc.
  2. He'll be a good addition to the bullpen and club house. Guillen will quickly find out how dependable Kelly can be.
  3. Nothing. It was a hit through the hole. Regardless of how hard it was hit, 2 feet to the right would have been a DP. I don't know what his problem with the hit is...
  4. Wunsch Recalled, Cotts to Start WSC Report - 5/18/05 WhiteSoxCentral.com Felix Diaz sent to the minors in an effort to start Cotts After just two major league starts, Felix Diaz was sent back down to the minor leagues to make room for left hander Kelly Wunsch, who the White Sox recalled from AAA Charlotte. The move will also put left-hander Neal Cotts into the starting rotation. According to news sources, Cotts will start Saturday against Minnesota in Minneapolis. In two starts for the White Sox, Felix Diaz was 0-1 with an 11.42 ERA. In both those starts, he didn't pitch past the 4th inning. Kelly Wunsch is back on the White Sox major league roster after being placed on the DL before the season started. In 43 games last season, Wunsch posted a 2.75 ERA with 25 BB and 33 SO. Neal Cotts will make his first start out of the rotation since last year in which he went 1-1 with an 8.10 ERA.
  5. Nobody wants to give him a chance. Look at Beltre in LA...it took him 6 solid years to do what he is doing. Crede has 1 full year of experience for christ sakes. I'm right with you Boz, let Crede do what he's going to do.

  7. The line-up I want to see out there, and I don't care how they get it done is: CF - Harris LF - Reed RF - Maggs DH - Frank SS - Valentin 3B - Crede 1B - Gload 2B - Uribe C - Olivo Note no more Lee or Konerko, and Reed in LF with Harris in CF. That is a team Ozzie can have some fun with.

  11. The statement was that we didn't fall down and die against their 'ace'. We hammered him.
  12. I don't like how people assume that White Sox players are trying to hit home runs when they don't score, and aren't trying to hit home runs when they do score. How does anyone really know? Then don't. The Sox mashed quite a few extra base hits, so what's to say they weren't swinging for the fences today?
  13. Statement Game WSC Recap - By Mike Matha - 5/16/04 WhiteSoxCentral.com In a game the White Sox could ill afford to lose, Mark Buehrle's pitching and the White Sox offense stepped up in a rather large way. Buehrle threw 6 and 2/3rd's of shut out baseball while Jose Valentin and Magglio Ordonez led charge of an 11 run outburst. Just one day after commenting on the White Sox offensive production, manager Ozzie Guillen tinkered with the line-up. Willie Harris, normally the White Sox 2B was roaming CF, allowing the hot bat of Juan Uribe to play second; and Jose Valentin, normally the number two-hitter in the White Sox line-up was inserted into the 6th hole, breaking up Lee and Konerko. The line-up tinkering paid off for Guillen and the Sox as they provided Buehrle with 11 runs on 15 hits. Buehrle threw his second dominant game in a row, and has allowed 0 ER in his last two starts. His ERA is back down under 4.00, at 3.99 and now joins Scott Shoeneweis and Jon Garland as starters bolstering ERA's under the 4.00 mark. Mark went 6 and 2/3rd's, surrendering 0 runs on 7 hits, 0 BB, and 7 SO. The win moved Buehrle to 3-1 on the season. The White Sox got the action started in the bottom of the second, taking a 3-0 lead over Carlos Silva and the front running Twins. Carlos Lee led the inning off with a double, and Jose Valentin wasted no time singling him in for the only run the White Sox needed. With one out and Valentin still on first, Joe Crede launched a home run (8) into left, giving the Sox an early 3-0 lead. Crede was hitless for the rest of the afternoon. The White Sox added more to their punch in the bottom of the third, putting up another crooked three spot onto the board. With Lee and Ordonez aboard, Jose Valentin parked his fifth home run (5) into the right field seats. Still not finished with three spots, the White Sox added three more in the bottom of the fourth, giving themselves a commanding 9-0 lead. Magglio Ordonez singled to center with the bases loaded, scoring Sandy Alomar Jr. and Willie Harris, highlighting the inning. Ordonez also added an RBI double in the fifth. Magglio was 3-4 with 3 RBI on the evening. After the game, Ordonez's average rose to .302. SS Jose Valentin finished off his fine evening with 3 hits and 4 RBI. This was Valentin's first game batting in the six hole this season. The White Sox victory put them within two games of first place. The Sox will travel to Cleveland tomorrow to play the Cleveland Indians. Rookie Felix Diaz will make his second major league start on just three days rest.

  16. I agree, but I'd send a bigger message. Ship somebody that's been a 'lock' out. Carlos and Konerko come to mind.
  17. Joe is the least of our struggles, in fact, without him, we aren't a .500 ball club. Take a look at Carlos and Konerko.

  21. The best pitch in the majors is an upper 90's fastball. With it, you can get away with missed breaking pitches, floating change ups, etc. more often. Without it, (Buehrle, Garland, all the Sox pitchers) you get hammered. Schilling? Heat. Ryan? Heat. Wood? Heat. Prior? Heat. Granted, they all have pretty good secondary pitches. However, are they good because they can offset hitters with an exploding fastball? Yes, yes, I realize the importance of those secondary pitches. Without them, the fastball is worthless. But it's not extremely hard to develop a decent curveball, or a cutter, and throw in a change up.
  22. I like Carlos, and I think trading him will bite us in the ass down the road, but trading him does the team more good than it does bad. I feel we can get a good starter for him, hopefully Freddy Garcia, which will give us not only a legit ace, but a good rotation 1-5. The void would obviously be filled by Jeremy Reed, a player that would fit the Guillen system perfectly. It would give the Sox a chance to drop Jose down into a power spot in the order where his OBP and BA don't matter worth jack. Plus Jose down further in the order allows us to play some Oz-Ball in the middle part of the order, something we can't do effectively with Lee. I'd like to see Valentin in the 5 spot and swiping bases, forcing the pitcher to give Paulie fastballs.
  23. Once he gets his velocity back up on his fastball, hitters will stop sitting on his cutter. Once they stop sitting on his cutter, we get what we got last year.
  24. He needs to hit his spots. He's been throwing strikes, but has been getting hammered doing that. From the starts I've been watching, his arm angle looks down...thus velocity is down. It's a matter of him correcting his poor mechanics.
  25. He had no chance to. The pitchers didn't hold Roberts on all series. It was ridiculous. You can't lay blame on Alomar for what Roberts did to us in that series.
