QUOTE(shipps @ Nov 13, 2006 -> 04:49 AM) Im lovin The Shins new single cant wait for the new album in jan.You can hear it on their myspace page. FWIW, I've heard the new album and I was not impressed. But I haven't liked the Shins since their debut.
  2. QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Nov 13, 2006 -> 12:54 AM) I will be too. But because I think Sofia Coppola is an AMAZING director. The Virgin Suicides is a genius film. Compared to the book, I thought the movie was a joke. But I did like Lost in Translation quite a bit. I haven't seen Marie Antoinette yet.
  3. Hunter S. Thompson.
  4. It's not true. Alright, what now?

QUOTE(EvilMonkey @ Nov 12, 2006 -> 10:15 PM) If you are not sick, then you are stealing from the company. They are given as a benefit, and to use them when you are not sick is wrong. Especially if you do it 'because everyone else does'. My people get 3 'flex' days. Sick, personal, whatever. Thishelps to avoid the phantom illness like you suggest. Fire them all and get employees that don't abuse their sick days. You'll be hard pressed to find those kind of people unless you hire the Amish. The fact that we (well, not me, yet) have to work 9-5 five days a week is wrong if you ask me. There ain't nothing wrong with taking a day off to get smashed, to see some sights or go to the Sox game if my life is so mundane that 8 hours of every single day is spent doing something that certainly doesn't "better" anyone's life. Besides, you don't think the people on top aren't doing things that are wrong? Give me a break. Maybe you're a clean guy--and I'm not implying you aren't--but sometimes the man just needs to take it up the you know what.

QUOTE(beautox @ Nov 12, 2006 -> 02:13 AM) I think we could provided we deal Uribe for Omar Vizquel, and Scott Podsednik to the Rockies for some of the following prospects: RHP David Patton BP Prospect, RHP Andrew Johnston BP Prospect, 2B S Corey Wimberly Lead off potential, CF S Dexter Fowler toolsy. I think Anderson is only going to improve and won't be a black hole. Omar > Uribe, I also think sweeney could provide the same offense as Scott next year, more power a lot less SB all the while doing it from the 9 hole. Iguchi Vizquel Dye Thome PK Crede AJP Anderson Sweeney I don't think Vizquel would cost much in terms on milb talent maybe some fringe prospects like Rogo and Tracey. And when Omar retires the Sox have SS options where?

Don't have insider, but on the fron't page of ESPN says, "Now that Drew has opted out of his contract with the Dodgers, the Red Sox, Cubs, White Sox, Indians, Astros and Rangers could pursue Drew." Direct link to article Drew is a pretty good player when he's healthy. He'll get you, at the very least, 20, 100 and a good BA. Aside from that, I don't really know much about him. Is he a good fielder? Will the White Sox want to dish out the money Drew will likely command?

QUOTE(Texsox @ Nov 8, 2006 -> 07:08 PM) Don't you think as a Christian, God is worth an hour a week? With so many flavors of Christianity, you can certainly find one that nurtures your soul? I'm not a religious person in the slightest. I guess I'm a catholic, but only because there were some things I couldn't control as a child. I have no problem with religion or anyone that practices their religion regardless of what they practice. However, and this may be purely ignorance on my part, what I've never understood is why a religion has, as you said, "different flavors." Obviously there is a debate for one god or many gods, but that aside, for instance, why isn't there simply just one branch of Christianity? Why are there several? And why do the "rules" so often change? I may or may not believe in God, but if so many people are certain there is one (even if there is one or a group of for each and every select faith), why are there so many different practices within the same faith? Are the different "flavors" of Christianity a sort of debate of what a Christian really is?

QUOTE(Texsox @ Nov 8, 2006 -> 09:57 AM) BTW, Hampshire will require a lifetime of debt on his part, $40,000 per year + + + If that's true, my Columbia College looks a whole lot better than it used to.

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Nov 8, 2006 -> 12:11 AM) Holy Cr@p, Tex is Ted Haggard!?! Ahh, I guess that explains the urges to punch that smile off his face.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Nov 7, 2006 -> 07:03 AM) FWIW, you get those kind of numbers in just about any small liberal arts school. Big ones too. Columbia College, 10,000+, has classrooms about 15 per. Largest class I've ever been in is 54.

As a liberal art student myself, if your son likes the arts, don't deny him the opportunity to go to an art school. He'll be able to do what he wants and he'll be with students that enjoy the same things and will challenge him to his best. The teaching methods they use most likely won't be normal and it may be difficult to see the benefits, but believe me, the A-F, 0-100 scoring scale isn't for art. I'm actually thinking of transfering here myself. If you have any other information, please let me know.
  17. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Nov 4, 2006 -> 11:08 PM) I would think we could lose this thread now, seeing there is no longer an offer. No. Never.
  18. QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Nov 5, 2006 -> 12:07 AM) one review at a time hopefully. I LOVE my gigabeat...and it gigabeats the hell out of the 30g (and 80g because of the price) Ipods. It has a larger viewing screen and equal style. The only reason I could see staying with an Ipod is itunes, but here again, I'm not saying Ipods suck, I just think that Apple easily has competition. Unfortunately, it is the consumer that is lazy. The Zune will work with iTunes. And I hope Microsoft markets the hell out of the Zune because I despise the iPod. I've bought 3 and all of them broke in less than 3 months. (I really miss the middle finger emoticon.) But you're right about the overall space of the Zune. 30 gigs doesn't cut it. I have 70 gigs in my library.
  19. QUOTE(bmags @ Nov 4, 2006 -> 03:35 PM) again, i'm not talking about the actuality of the situation, i'm talking about the perception from the large consumer public. I understand. I'm just saying the perception has a chance to change.
  20. QUOTE(bmags @ Nov 3, 2006 -> 04:45 PM) while this is true, the style and interface of the ipods are more important, and however not true it is, people think that ipods are setting the standard in tech. Well, if the Zune doesn't break down like the iPod, I think Apple has some pretty good compettition. As far as the "standard" I think Microsoft trying to set some new ones.

QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Nov 4, 2006 -> 10:11 AM) and be as big of douche bags as those kids are guaranteed to be.... you know those high school kids who get drafted to the NBA and turn out to be thugs? same principle. High school kids can't handle fame. Especially Rock Star fame. i"ve actually heard the exact opposite about these kids.

Heard Be Your Own Pet today for the first time. Those high schoolers can f***ing rock some s***, man. It makes me pretty jealous. I wish I could've walked through my high school knowing that I was a rock star.
