  1. Remember a jet that we lost after bombing Libya? It went down because France wouldn't let us fly over their country. We had to go around, and the plane ran out of fuel, because the chicken-s*** cheese eaters were afraid to even look like they were helping us. I also didn't see the French jumping for joy over Lance Armstrong. I saw (French) local and national news organizations screaming for drug tests of Lance, but certainly no lovefest. France feels insignificant, since they know they have no real power in the world, and would have even less if they didn't have a permanant seat on the security council at the UN. How they got that, I will never understand. They couldn't secure themselves during two wars.
  2. Just wait....if the Yank-mes actually TAKE this deal, you will have some on here calling the Sox CHEAP for not outbidding them within minutes.
  3. Why limit yourself to American UberChristians? There is plenty of hypocracies on all sides to go around.
  4. YES, I got your PM. Thanks. On the other subject at hand, I would have to disagree with you that the clerics statement was adressing both sides. I just don't see it, don't hear it and don't read it. Sure the wording is ambigous enough that we can both interpret it our ways, so we will have to just disagree there. But to me it is just looney to think that the average Iraqi doesn't know that there are people inside mosques, shooting at coalition forces, from within the mosque. The fact that these people, be they Iraqis or outsiders, are taking refuge in a mosque and shooting from within should have every Iraqi citizen up in arms screaming at them to leave, or even forcing them to do so. If they can get so adamant against our forces for simply being there, why can't they get off their collective asses and do something for themselves? It is just hypocracy at its finest on the part of the muslims. I will, however, agree with your last paragraph. Some people need better hobbies.
  5. So that makes him 'a cancer in the clubhouse'? I still don't get it.
  6. That still doesn't explain it. Why was there a lack of anger at the mosques being used as bases and firezones BEFORE we went in there to root them out? This is like Saddam using hostages as hman shields, damned if you do, damned if you don't.
  7. Just a thought here, but every story I see on this has a headline saying something like "Muslims angry at shooting IN mosque". Why aren't the headlines more ike "Muslims angry at shooting FROM mosque"? Why are they not upset that these people are using a holy place as a battleground?
  8. Noone has metioned exactally what Nomar supposedly does that makes him a cancer in the clubhouse. What does a player do that is sooooo bad? We all know what Sam-me did in his, but what does Nomar do?
  9. Kenny was as qualified as Evans who ran LA. Or the guy that is running Boston.
  10. OK, you have the Times of London, supposedly getting confidential CIA logs? And 'witnesses'? Who? If there are witnesses, why aren't they hauled before the World Court, or the widely respected UN, to try and put pressure on the US to stop this? You just know that all the anit-US people would love to be able to do that. However, they would need actual real witnesses, not just ones a reporter claims have talked to him. In the story I found 'An Indonesian official ', a source at the airport ', Masood Anwar, a Pakistani newspaper reporter in Karachi who claims to have SEEN THE PLANE, and 'airport staff' who told him of certain people being led on the plane, you have 'Witnesses described seeing the prisoners handed to US agents whose faces were masked by hoods', and 'Witnesses have claimed that the suspects are frequently bound, gagged and sedated before being put on board the planes'. The reporter also makes careful note of the planes ID numbers to make it sound all official. The opening statement is also an accusation. "AN executive jet is being used by the American intelligence agencies to fly terrorist suspects to countries that routinely use torture in their prisons" Note the word IS. No agenda here.
  11. It was not that they attract only poor minorities, but that they only recruit poor minorities. That claim was made my Moore, as well as several Democratic Senators during the Presidential campaign (Charlie Rangle was the loudest).
  12. Gee, according to Michael Moore they only recruit young, poor minorities? How many of those do you see at NASCAR events? This will never reach their target group.
  13. Maybe Nuke's point about the enviro-wackos should be that they complain too much about some things. Plus, they also suffer from the NIMBY, such as the libs in the lovely state of Mass. like Kennedy Jr. I recall there were plans to build a wind farm off the coast so that they woldn't have to expand the existing power plant to meet all the power needs of the area. It would have been clean, cheap and efficient power. But wait! "You can't put that here", said Kennedy. "It would ruin our view!" I guess a good view is more important to them that clean, resource effiecint power. On a more general note, when was the last time a new refinery has been built? Over 20 years, because of all the red tape, not in my backyard, and other restrictions put on them. I agree that I probably wouldn't want one in my backyard either, but sooner or later capacity has to increase, or that will be just one more reason why prices go up.
  14. Clinton had the benefit of the line item veto until 1998 (i think), and if I recall, there are alot of you on here that think things were pretty good under him. However, maybe a better way would be to make a law saying that you can't attach non-related items to a bill already pending. This way you don't get $300,000 to rebuild a crapper tacked onto a school funding bill, or $2 million for a Foot Fungus Museum in North Dakota added to a defense appropriations bill. Will it stop all? No. Will it stop some? I certainly hope so.
  15. I don't see how Nomar is a cancer. Where has this ever been reported in a newspaper? You heard rumblings from the Boston brass AFTER they traded him, but nothing before that. Usually clubhouse cancers are not very fan-friendly, and it appears that Nomar was a fan favorite. He is better than Jose and it appears that he would take a one year deal. As for the injury thing, anyone can get hurt, as we saw with Mags, so worrying about the possibility of it happening is a moot point. Besides, what exactally IS a clubhouse cancer? What does Nomar do that is sooo bad? I really want to know.
  16. I heard on a newsreport on the radio (can't remember which station!) that Bush was trying to get the line-item veto passed again. I believe we had it for a while under Clinton, then the Supremes decided that it was unconstitutional. If they can find a way to get that reinstated, that would (hopefully!) eliminate the tacking of a $50,000 grant for studying cow farts being attached to a $20 billion appropriations bill for Medicaide.

    Boxer pups..

I've had Beagles that we have rescued from the pounds. So far, they have both been wonderful dogs, but hard to housebreak, since they were abused previously. A slight raising of the voice was enough to send the current dog cowering in fear during the first few months. It is noble that you help the dogs in need, but I also understand the desire to have a dog whose history you know.

    Bowling

I have picked it up before as well, but on a night with about 6 of those, not once. Did get a 5-10 and a 5-7.

    Bad Habits

That is me too! I describe it as I can 'feel' my leg, so I have to move it. It drives my wife crazy when we are trying to sleep, and I don't mean in a good way.

    Bowling

Ditto on the congrats. No 300 games to my credit yet, but maybe someday. 279 is my high so far. Had an average night saturday, 171, 161, 181 (172 is my average), then on Sunday night, had one of the wierder nights. First game, 10 splits. All pocket shots, some maybe light, some not. Got a 129. Second and third game, left the 4-7-10 split in both games, in the 9th AND 10th frames, but still bowled a 225 and a 222. I really hate the 4-7-10 split. The funny part, I won the mystery pot with the 129!
  21. I find it funny he thinks the Sox underbid for a 37 year old shortstop, when in truth it was the Giants who OVERBID. If the Sox had ponied up 3 guaranteed years, he would have been the first to scream how they are locking themselves into a bad situation with aging veterans. He is still a moron, any way you look at it.
  22. But wait! Didn't you hear? The exit polls WERE right, it is the election that was wrong!
  23. Yeah, you can't tell us how YOU would act, but you are presuming to know how this solder should have acted. He is not a peace negotiator, he is a soldier, with a gun, trying to kill the people that are trying to kill him. Lethal force IS his option. People die, especially enemy combatants.
  24. The plan uses the word 'scenereo' because it is one of many plans made up to respond to situations. They probably have plans drawn up for what to do if China invades Tiawan, or any number of other things. They probably also had plans that didn't involve nukes, and maybe even had a plan to just withdraw.
  25. For your first reaction: great! if that's your opinion, well, so be it. More power to ya! For your second reaction: Who said that liberal values were IMMORAL? Are you saying that conservatives are for a dirty environment? What new and expanded civil rights would you like to bestow upon the populace? For your third reaction: while DC may have the lowest divorce rate, I would wager that it also has the highest rate of single parent households. It's hard to get a divorce when you don't get married to begin with. For your fourth reaction: That's like saying which would you prefer, to lose your left arm or right leg? If both choices are bad to you, it is a lose-lose situation. (Personally, I couldn't care less what people do in their bedroom) For your fifth reaction: Those of you who 'voted against the President who went to war in our names' would have voted against him even if the war never happened. You are fooling yourself if you think otherwise. Plus, your profile says 'St.Charles, IL', so who is this 'us' you are referring to? Or did you just cut and paste this from someone else's article? This sounds just like a rant I heard on air-america today. As for the imorrality of the war, what about all the people NOT killed by the war. You know, the ones that would have been in the mass graves that were uncovered. I am not saying the was was a GOOD thing, but war in and of itself, is not immoral.
