  1. If the kid starts throwin' around daddy's name to try and get him out of it, or if daddy pulls more than a few strings to help (like the Wisconsin AG), then yes. Otherwise, leave it be.
  2. I'm not trying to be critical, i just wanted to make sure that there was not some obscure baseball rule involved with throws to first where a tag being made is important.
  3. OK , you are right about that. But why does it bear a mention that no tag was applied. He doesn't say 'throw to first, tag applied', so why let us know that NO tag was applied? Is he just talking because he loves the sound of his voice? I was just curious if he was noting that no tag was applied for a reason.
  4. I end up listening to alot of games on the radio due to my work hours, and sometime during the course of the game, farmer will say "And a throw to forst, no tag applied." Is there any reason to say that? Does it matter if a tag is applied or not? Just curious.
  5. Of those 11,000+ deaths, the ones where it is gangbanger vs gangbanger don't bother me at all. I own a gun (3 to be exact) and have no desire to turn them over to anyone. I have had a gun since i was 10 years old, have been around them since then, and have the utmost respect for guns. I have hunted with rifles and shotguns, done target practice with my handgun, and have shot a few machine guns before. Not the easiest thing to do, and hit your target. Most gun owners wouldn't have a problem with regulation, but they fear that once they give an inch, gun control advocates will take a mile. Ever notice how most gun control advocates (in government) have body guards, or guns themselves? I wonder how many armed people protect the Daley clan, while he screams for guns to be denied to all. You want a gun? Gte a license, but make it harder to get than filling out a form. Pass a firearm safety class, background check, etc. to get a FOID, then leave the people alone.
  6. When you found out you were traded to the White Sox, what were you thinking? I mean, was it "Oh great, SNOW!", or "Oh great, these guys BLOW!", or "Oh GREAT! I LIKE THESE GUYS!" I hope it was the third.
  7. That only wokrs when the talent level of 'brains + heart' is at least in the ball park of talent alone. You could be the smartest player in the game, and have the biggest desre to win in the world, but if you suck, you suck. However for the Twins vs. the White Sox the last few years, that holds very true!
  8. Yeah, I noticed it today too, but didn't realize it until the 8th inning. All of a sudden , I saw alot of blue seats, when I know the lower bowl was pretty much filled. Took my 5yr old to his first game today! What a game!!!! Too bad his interest only lasted about 4 innings, but the fireworks kept bringing him back.
  9. Wow. And I thought I was evil! Those Germans are nuts!

    Tennis...

That can hurt! I got nailed in the lower region during a doubles match at my conference playoffs years ago. My partner had this annoying habit of returning the ball softly, and leaving me out to dry at the net. I got him back during the third set, though. I nailed him in the back with a serve. Oops! I might not have done that, except that I swear I saw him laughing when I was rolling around on the court, holding my crotch, and screaming "My balls, oh my balls!" Oh, we lost in 3 sets, 6-4, 4-6, 6-0 (I got nailed in the 1st game of the third set, downhill from there!)
  11. That's pretty much what my second link says. I used to have the links that showed how crime went down in concealed carry states, but I couldn't find those this time.
  12. well, you can also go to the CDC website and get statistics, which seem to be pretty fair. The FBI site also has some reports, but they seems just a little bit slanted. For local stats, try the Chicago PD web page. They have breakdowns of crime stats (by quarters) for the city broken down into various catagories (robberies, homicides, etc.)

  14. Took the little monkeys to the park last year. Went over Halloween week, so we all blended in real nice. The kids will enjoy it, and if your feet don't fall off while waiting in the lines, you will too. Enjoy!
  15. We tried bringing back our aging veterans before (Baines) and it didn't work. I liked Harold, but his last stint here sucked big time. I don't think the upside to Ventura taking a roster space is big enough to mess things up now. However, if a trade of some sort were to happen (I think Lee may be traded before the year is up), then who knows what could happen........

    First accidents

I was 17, driving my dad's Jeep in a huge snowstorm, and had a Caddilac slide into the back of me broadside! He saw me stopped in front of him, hit his brakes, skidded sideways and wham! I was fine, the Jeep was OK (crushed the spare tire and the two bumper guards in the back, and unrounded one of the back corners), but the other guy didn't fair to well. The whole drivers side of his car was mush, and he was knocked out from the Jeep spare tire hitting him upside his head! Serves him right, since he was drunk. And to top it off, I GOT GROUNDED FOR IT, even though it wasn't my fault. Oh well.
  17. Yeah, that called for a 'b****!' at the end of it. Bravo!
  18. I think that was one of the more accurate articles written about the Sox this year. I would have to agree with most of i, including on Rowan. I wish he could turn it up just a little bit more, like on '01. I am also glad they are letting Willie swing a bit, instead of trying to bunt every damn time up. He HIT in the minors, and when Manual had him last year, all he wanted him to do was bunt. FREE WILLIE!!!
  19. Mine did that too, but thankfully I only had one strip about 4 feet long to go, so I cleared that with the edge trimmer! Other than that and the Sox losing, it was a mixed bag. Had last night of bowling saturday, ended up in 4th place. Won an additional $80 in pots and sidebets. Wife and I drank all $80 in the bar afterwards! Haven't done that in a while, so it was fun, at least for me, as she fell asleep in the bathroom! Then helped the boys take care of their present to mom, buying and planting her flowers for the front yard. Not fun to do with a slight hangover. At least they 'arrived' on time. Good luck with the basement! If it got onto the walls or anything, use lots of Lysol or mold will grow everywhere. Went thru that a few years back when the sump pump broke.
  20. You hit the nail on the head! You can't teach speed, but you HAVE to teach how to read a pitcher and when to pick your spots. I don't think Willie or Uribe have it, at least not yet. However, I am hopeful.
  21. We DEMAND such treatment, but do we receive it? While I in no way condone the actions of those that mistreated the prisoners over there, at least as far as the world community goes, if you didn't say anything against the Iraqi's setting our people on fire and crap, you have no right to b**** about this.
  22. I don't think they threw down their weapons because they thought they would get 5-star treatment in a US prison camp. They did that because they knew they would be dead before they could s*** their pants if they didn't.
  23. You can take an old album cover, fill it with shaving cream, slip the end under his door, then step on it. Poof! Shaving cream all over the place.
  24. I know it opens a slippery slope, but at least for a moment, I am thinking "About f***ing time!". WHat they should do is arrest the parents for child endangerment and lock their butts up for a long time. I feel kinda like southsider2k4, if I am paying for it, I want a say. Just a thought: where in the constitution does it say you have a right to have kids? It says you have a right to life, but doesn't say you have a right to create life.
  25. Politte DOES seem to get his panties in a bunch in the 9th inning, doesn't he. He has got good stuff, and one of the hardest throwers on the team. He is just a head case. Started off good, got rocked once, and now can't do a thing. Too many walks, and looks like he is in another world out there.
