    Bowling....

DAMN! Last night of bowling this year, 3rd place on the line, and I couldn't do anything. 179, 178 and 169. The lanes started off dry, and just got drier as the night went on. I don't have a large hook, but by the third game, was hitting between the first and second arrow, and still coming up brooklyn side. Both the Zone and the Firestorm were just slicing right thru the pocket. Good thing I can pick up a 10 pin most times, regardless of conditions.
  3. He couldn't do much worse than what we have now. I think the Sox should find out what it would take to get Crawford. He made our catchers look silly this weekend.
  4. Humor? Oh, ok. Sorry, taxes tend to render the funny bone inoperable. Especially after a tough week. However, the victory tonight makes all better. At least for tonight!
  5. Whoa there, tax-boy. By Democratic standards, I am rich, and if you ever TRY to take $87.2% of what I make, you will go home in a box. I earned it to support myself and my family, not to provide public housing, fund a study on the migration patterns of the hummingbird, or any number of pork projects that politicians of all parties throw into various laws. I already pay hefty taxes on my personal income, not to mention all the taxes and other 'fees' that they stick on business, because we all know that corporations are eeevil. What is deducted from your pay for payroll taxes is also paid by your employer, not to mention huge amounts for 'unemployment insurance', even if you have never laid anyone off in the last 13 years. The wheels of commerce in this state are well grease by myself, my employees and my company. And we are all well taxed already.
  6. How about Keystone! Except for their bitter-beer face commercials, there are no redeeming qualities about it.
  7. I hope so! She will be spending alot of time with us this summer, so I think I will get her to more than a few games. My oldest boy goes along most of the time as well, so they can keep each other company when they drift off, as kids will often do. But I will make sure to teach her the way of Ozzie. :fthecubs
  8. Why not? Doesn't the city benefit from the team being there? Most big cities have payroll taxes. Some even tax the visiting teams for what the players earn while playing games in their city and/or state. The city/state also gets tax revenue on the concessions, tickets, parking, parking ticket revenue, and income flows into the surrounding businesses. They also get free advertising for the city, every time the team is mentioned. CHICAGO White Sox. And if the team actually makes the playoffs? More money! And build the stadium right, and the controlling body canalso use it for other events (concerts, high school playoffs, etc.)
  9. Living in the south suburbs, it was easier going to Sox games. Plus, dad was a Sox fan, and wanted nothing to do with the Cubs. As a kid, I watched Cubs games at times. They didn't bother me then, I just loved baseball, but the older I got, the more I noticed the Cubs fans that lived by me were just idiots, and that further cemented my Sox fandom. A side note, my niece was over last weekend, when I was watching the Sox game, and asked who I was watching play. When I said "The Chicago White Sox", she replied, "Who are they? I thought the Cubs were Chicago's team?" I should beat my sister for letting her be raised a Cubs fan. So, I am taking her to her first White Sox game this saturday, to see what real baseball is like. If that doesn't cure her, maybe an exorcism?
  10. So you are saying that there are more Palastinian 'innocents' killed than there are israeli civilians killed? What world do you live in? A few people dying in 'collateral damage' during a missle strike on a Hamas target is nothing compared to a suicide bomber walking into a deli or a disco and blowing themselves, and everyone else, up. If they hate Disco, there are better ways to stop the music. As for the overkill aspect, what would you have soldiers do when they are attacked? Rocks can kill, and all it takes is for one person among the rock throwers to have a grenade. If you throw rocks or otherwise attack ARMED SOLDIERS, you should expect to be shot at. There are probably very few 'retirement' communities in the Palastinian communities, so I doubt very many people were alive during the 'land grab'. Most of them were born where they currently are now, so why do they want the right to 'return'? These people are incorrectly labeled 'refugees', which is why the 'problem' seems worse than it is. How's this for a solution? Give Israel the Gaza Strip, remove all the settlements in West Bank, give that to the Palastinians, let Israel put up it's security fence/wall, and have an international team police the Holy City, so neither side can claim it as solely theirs. Temporary? maybe. Will it work? Well, nothing else has so far, so odds are not good, but you never know. but maybe with something like that, the Palastinians can actually start to DO something, like create an economy, where they make something other than suicide bombers. Maybe.
  11. If they have quotas, the State Police must meet theirs pretty early. I often see them on the Tri-State, just sitting there, while someone passes me at 70+MPH. I saw them, I slowed down, the other guy didn't, and gets away scot-free. Seriously, I see them let speeding go very often. Except for when it is ME going 5MPH over.
  12. Israel is already by itself, except for the US. Even the UN, which formed Isreal, is against it. You have resolution after resolution condemning Israeli attacks against the terrorists, but never hear a peep about all the suicide bombers. How about the UN cutting off the funding to the PLO and Yassar? He hasn't done a thing to control the terrorists, why is the UN funding him and the PLO?

    Bowling....

Nice scores! I have one more week left, right now the average is at 181. High for the year is 252, but I did get a 700-series. My secret? MORE BEER! The third game is always the best! Just an FYI for all, there used to be a bowling show called LEts Bowl, I think on the Comedy Network. 1 person would 'challenge' someone else to bowl, there were 2 wacky hosts that interviewed the bowlers, one frame was a 'speed frame' as to how fast they could throw the ball, one frame they put ramps in the middle of the lanes, things like that. and each bowler got an airhorn that they cold blow off one time, any time, they wanted. the winner got some used car they bought (like an '88 Grand Prix)and a little cash ($600?). It was actually pretty funny, but after about 5 or 6 weeks, they all started to sound the same.
  14. I will not be able to make a game until this Saturday. While I AM my own boss, I do need to stay open to make money, otherwise NO games this year. I WILL be there to see them smack the Rays like the AA team they used to be.
  15. I felt the same way when all my friends took up golf.
  16. My socks are 'holey'! , does that make me a right-wing religious zealot? Although I have both white AND black socks. I think I even have a brown pair somewhere. Hmmm.
  17. Regardless of the true issue of the 'bounced check', they will be lucky if they last 6 months. The hosts will burn themselves out with their anger. The conservative hosts always seem like they are having fun in their work. I have listened, and the hosts just seem so consumed by hate, that it will eat them up before long. They need to learn to lighten up a bit.
  18. Have Sox pitchers ever heard of the inside pitch? Especially to a guy who has 3 HR's against us? Why hasn't he had his uniform dirtied up yet? They hit 2 of our batter already, I think Mags was on purpose.
  19. If I recall right, there were more fan incidents in Oakland last year than were in Chicago. Someone there even set off fireworks in the stadium, hurting a kid. That didn't get anywhere NEAR the airplay that our incident did.
  20. By requiring an ID to purchase weapons, communications equipment, chemicals, etc. the government will have a means with which to track you, your movements and your purchasing habits. If you feel that your liberties are that stongly in jeapordy, your suggestions just gives them another menas to keep tabs on you, And me. I am not saying I am against them, just trying to point that out. I am all for much more stingent restrictions on visas and immigration, profiling-be-damned.
  21. There is always Seattle to trade with. 1-5 so far, losing money, not hitting at all, could be looking for some bats. Pinero, Franklin, Garcia, Meche, Moyer (assuming his last two starts are not going to be repeated for the rest of the year!).
  22. That's just it. He talks ALOT OF s***! But he does claim to be a Sox fan, then falls all over himself finding a reason to complain. Garland had one game, and showed poise getting out of some jams. To North, he was 'lucky'. Had it been Kerry Wood, it would have been 'a masterfull display of pitching'. And all the while, poor Dougie would have his nose buried so far up North's ass, he would be able to tell us what he had for breakfast. North is just like a radio version of Moron-oti in the Sun-Times.
  23. "The cleric said he opposed the way the bodies of the American contractors had been treated but insisted that what the US marines were now doing in Fallujah was no better. They "are doing the same by mutilating the residential neighborhoods," he said. " Is it just me, or does anyone else see that these two things are NOT the same?
