  1. here is a question for you fellow Lost fans.....anyone recall a reference to a character named Ben??? here's why i ask...... it's a party for the season premiere and around the 2:50 mark the announcers call out the actor's name saying "Michael Emerson as Henry Gale also known as Ben." Which the other announcer replies "They don't know that yet...a spoiler" I'm not sure if it was planned or an honest mistake but i can't recall off hand any Ben's in the show or any ties. of course i haven't seen the last two seasons recently. oh well just something for us all to think about.
  2. Sykes: Foley gives alcohol a bad name BURBANK, Calif. (AP) — It's a bad sign for politicians when their lives become fodder for late-night comedians. That's the fate for former Congressman Mark Foley, who resigned this past Friday after revelations he sent suggestive e-mails and instant messages to former congressional pages. Foley says he believes he has a problem with booze and has gone into rehab. Sykes says that explanation defies common sense. She says she's been drunk lots of time, but never felt like putting moves on a Girl Scout or anything. She says Foley's explanation "gives alcohol a bad name
  3. Last i read, the producers said they will get away from the mythology of the island a bit and get into more of the characters interactions on the island. The story behind Henry and the 'others' could be very interesting.
  4. Chicago's Rules of the Road 1. Turn signals will give away your next move. A real driver never uses them. 2. Under no circumstances should you leave a safe distance between you and the car in front of you, or the space will be filled in by somebody else putting you in an even more dangerous situation. 3. Crossing two or more lanes in a single lane change is considered going with the flow. 4. The faster you drive through a red light, the smaller the chance you have of getting hit. 5. Never, ever come to a complete stop at a stop sign. No one expects it and it will inevitably result in you being rear-ended. If you want your insurance company to pay for a new rear bumper, come to a complete stop at all stop signs. 6. A right lane construction closure is just a game to see how many people can cut in line by passing you on the right as you sit in the left lane waiting for the same jerks to squeeze their way back in before hitting the orange construction barrels. 7. Braking is to be done as hard and late as possible to ensure that your ABS kicks in, giving a nice, relaxing foot massage as the brake pedal pulsates. For those of you without ABS, it's a chance to stretch your legs. 8. Never pass on the left when you can pass on the right. It's a good way to scare people entering the highway. 9. Speed limits are arbitrary figures, given only as suggestions, and they are apparently not enforceable during rush hour. 10. Just because you're in the left lane and have no room to speed up or move over doesn't mean that a driver flashing his high beams behind you doesn't think he can go faster in your spot. 11. It is traditional to honk your horn at cars that don't move the instant the light changes. 12. Remember that the goal of every driver is to get there first, by whatever means necessary.

  7. BAILEY, Colo. - A gunman walked into the high school in this mountain town Wednesday, fired at least two shots and took six people hostage. Hundreds of students were evacuated in a scene that recalled the horror at Columbine just a short drive away. There were no reports of injuries. Four hostages were released, but two girls remained inside the Platte Canyon High School more than three hours after the gunman arrived, said Jacki Kelley, spokeswoman for the Jefferson County sheriff. She did not release the man's name or identify the hostages, but said the girls were believed to be unharmed. This just happened a little while ago.

    OMG!!!!!!!

BURBANK, Calif. - Rosie O'Donnell gave co-star Julian McMahon an eyeful when they were shooting a sex scene for FX Networks' Golden Globe-winning drama "Nip/Tuck." O'Donnell told "Access Hollywood" that the director tried to shoot around a tube-top that they made her wear. But the director kept yelling "cut" because a bit of the tube-top could be seen in the shot. So, Rosie fixed the situation by pulling down the top. I cringe at even the possibility of ANY man ever seeing that again
  10. NEW YORK - Wal-Mart plans to begin selling nearly 300 generic prescription drugs for a sharply reduced price, offering a big lure for bargain-seeking customers and presenting a challenge to competing pharmacy chains. The world's biggest retailer said Thursday that it will test its sales program, in which 291 generic drugs will be sold at $4 for a month's supply, in Florida. The drugs involved provide treatments for conditions ranging from allergies to high-blood pressure. Selling generic drugs at prices that don't offer much if any margin for profit could serve two purposes for Wal-Mart: It could draw customers away from big pharmacy chains to Wal-Mart stores that offer a much wider array of products, and it could help Wal-Mart with an image problem stemming from its policies on health insurance for employees. "We're able to do this by using one of our greatest strengths as a company — our business model and our ability to drive costs out of the system, and the model that passes those costs savings to our customers," Bill Simon, executive vice president of the company's professional services division, said in announcing the plan at a Tampa, Fla., store. "In this case were applying that business model to health care." Wal-Mart Stores Inc. officials said the reduced price represents a savings to the customer of up to 70 percent on some drugs. The average monthly cost for a generic drug prescription is $28.74, according to the National Association of Chain Drug Stores. For branded drugs, that figure is $96.01. The program will be launched on Friday at 65 Wal-Mart, Neighborhood Market and Sams' Club pharmacies in the Tampa Bay area and will be expanded to the entire state in January. Simon wouldn't be specific about why Florida and specifically the Tampa Bay area was chosen for the rollout of the initiative, saying only that there was a need for it here. The company said it plans to expand the program to as many states as possible next year. Simon said the 291 generic drugs include "the most commonly prescribed drugs for the some of the most common illnesses that face Americans today, including cardiac disease, asthma, diabetes, glaucoma, Parkinson's (disease) and thyroid conditions." Simon wouldn't give details on how much the plan is expected to cost Wal-Mart or the company's dealings with the drug companies involved. The $4 prescriptions are not available by mail order and are being offered online only if picked up in person in the Tampa Bay area. In a conference call with reporters, Simon said that the generic drugs would not be sold at a loss to entice customers into the stores, a strategy that has been used in Wal-Mart's toy business. He said Wal-Mart is working with drugmakers to help them be more efficient, but added, "We are working with them as partners. We are not pressuring them to reduce prices." Tampa Wal-Mart pharmacy customer Pat Sullivan praised the company's initiative. The retired Massachusetts police officer said $4 generic prescriptions are a tremendous help. "I'm on disability and my benefits run out by the end of the month," he said. "It comes down to where do I go for a $100 prescription? I have no outlet other than to break a pill in half and take half today and half tomorrow." Wal-Mart's recent moves to improve its health care included relaxing eligibility requirements for its part-time employees who want health insurance, and extending coverage for the first time to the children of those employees. Part-time employees, who had to work for Wal-Mart for two years to qualify, now have to work at the company for one year. This year, Wal-Mart also expanded a trial run of in-store clinics, aimed at providing lower cost non-emergency health care to the public. Wake Up Wal-Mart has called upon Bentonville, Ark.-based Wal-Mart to offer better health care coverage and higher pay to employees. This past summer, Wal-Mart won a successful fight against a first-of-its-kind state law that would have required the retailer to spend more on employee health care in Maryland. A federal judge ruled in July that it was invalid under federal law. But other states are considering similar legislation aimed at the company. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

  15. 'Dog The Bounty Hunter' Arrested, Faces Extradition MSNBC has learned that U.S. officials have arrested TV reality star Duane "Dog" Chapman and two family members for extradition to Mexico. Chapman's wife told MSNBC's Rita Cosby that heavily armed U.S. marshals arrived at the family's house today and took away Chapman, his brother, Tim, and son, Leland. Cosby said she was told that Mexican government officials wanted the three men sent back there in relation to a three-year-old case. In 2003, the Chapmans went to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico to retrieve Max Factor heir Andrew Luster, who was wanted in the U.S. on rape charges. Luster is now in jail, serving a 124-year term, but at the time, the Chapmans were also jailed by Mexican authorities for a brief time three years ago. Bounty hunting is considered a crime in Mexico. At the time, the Chapmans were charged by Mexican authorities with illegally capturing Luster. The three returned to the United States after posting bail of their own. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- bounty hunting ilegal in Mexico?? i guess the Mexican police are doing a good job by themselves

  18. My wife and i slept in that morning. When we got up, i turned on the TV(which was last on CMT-Country Music Television) and i saw a picture of the first tower with the smoke coming out. The sound was up but noone was saying anything for about a minute. Considering what station it was on i turned to my wife and said "Who's video is this and why are they using this shot" thinking it's some long intro to a music video. Just as i turned back to the tv..that's when we saw the second plane go in. We both looked at each other and forwhat ever reason i threw a tape in the VCR and hit record. I watched that tape a couple of times since then but not in the last couple of years.

  22. MGM launches five movie sequels LOS ANGELES, Sept. 7 (UPI) -- Hollywood studio MGM is launching five movie sequels -- "Legally Blonde 3," "WarGames 2," "Species 4," "Into the Blue 2" and "Cutting Edge 3." MGM Worldwide Television Distribution Group will manage the worldwide sales campaigns, although it is unknown if the pictures will screen in theaters or go directly to DVD, zap2it.com reported. MGM announced the launch of "Legally Blonde 3," promising more beauty and brains -- even though Oscar-winning actress Reese Witherspoon will not reprise her role from the first two "Blonde" films. "Cutting Edge 3" billed as a romantic, competitive skating drama, follows the 1992 comedy and TV adaptation on ABC earlier this year. "Into the Blue 2" is a thriller about treasure hunters, and "War Games 2" is a thriller involving high-level computer operations, which begins filming in November. "Species 4" is a sci-fi saga about alien hybrids that starts production in October with Frank Mancuso Jr. executive producing. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I remember Wargames as it would be on my Top 5 movie list, and it pains me to think of a sequel. Almost like a sequel to Tron. UGH!!!!
