  1. AL Manager: Ozzie Guillen (it pains me to do this) AL ROY: Huston Street. AL Cy Young: Mariano Rivera. AL MVP: David Ortiz. AL Exec of the year: Kenny Williams. NL Manager: Bobby Cox. If he doesn't win this year...the voters should be replaced with drones trained to vote for him. NL Cy Young: Roger Clemens. NL ROY: Ryan Howard NL MVP: Andruw Jones. NL Exec of the Year: John Schuerholtz.
  2. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Oct 16, 2005 -> 03:45 PM) So thats why he makes those plays in the outfield! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No, that is why he is a good teammate. Stop being an idiot. :headshake
  3. QUOTE(Frank the Tank 35 @ Oct 16, 2005 -> 03:43 PM) The New York papers (I know, how accurate, right?) are speculating that the Yanks move Sheffield this offseason. They have to resign Matsui, and they'll have to sign as many relief pitchers as possible, especially since Gordon is leaving and looking for a closing job. One paper wanted Vernon Wells, but I don't think the Jays would bite on that. Another says Sheff for Rowand and prospects. I think Rowand plus Marte would do it. No, it's not fair value, but they are trying to get younger and those two would fill voids for the Yanks. Do I want Sheffield? Not really, not at his age. He's still a great player but is bound to start seeing a decline in production sometime soon. We'd be putting the onus on the immediate future, not that there's anything wrong with that...just not my style. I also remember that during the year, Sheffield had some hissy fit because his name came up in trade rumors and supposedly said he wouldn't play for any other team. Hmm... anyway, just a thought. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The Post just made stupid trade ideas. They have as much credibility as some Joe Schmo on Soxtalk creating a trade idea thread.
  4. QUOTE(danman31 @ Oct 16, 2005 -> 03:31 PM) GBS isn't a good team just yet. They aren't bad, I'm still embarrased they beat GBN. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yea, that surprises the hell out of me. New Trier gave up a fumble for a touchdown, and then an interception for a touchdown on the first two plays of the game. They didn't do anything else after that. How'd GBN fare?
  5. Yes, he does have his "moments" and will botch the occassional flyball, but he has an above average arm, has adjusted to Fenway beautifully, and overall is a fine defensive player. He's not going to win any awards defensively, but that isn't what he's being paid to do. Manny Ramirez has been an intregral part of the best offense in baseball for the last three years. He enjoys playing the game, his teammates love him, and no one smiles more than Manny. He'd be a great fit for an organization like the White Sox, end of story.
  6. With all due respect, to the both of you, that is just ridiculous.
  7. QUOTE(fathom @ Oct 16, 2005 -> 02:37 PM) I would take Carl Everett over him in the outfield <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I wish you would have made this statement clear in the first sentence because then I wouldnt have had to waste the 2 seconds reading your post in whole.
  8. Manny won't be traded within the division and to be honest I don't think he'll be traded at all. As for his defense, he is the most underrated defensive player in the game as I stated earlier.
  9. QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Oct 16, 2005 -> 02:24 PM) She has a topic she started today, about the Trib. And a couple of months ago they were doing a pictural profile of the team, and they had some pictures of her that she posted and there is no available wall space in her room, all covered with Sox stuff--even the not so good players. Then in the middle of that horrible August (I think) she started a topic about how she went to some pre-game signing and had the BEST DAY EVER because she got to talk to them. To be honest, it can be a little creepy, but she LOVES this team as much as any old timer. . . <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thanks.
  10. QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Oct 16, 2005 -> 02:20 PM) Win it for chisoxfan14, that girl never quit on the team and if I remember rightly, she has a shrine to them. And let's face it, her exhuberance is pretty contagious. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm not familiar with chisoxfan14. Tony, Soxy, can either of you explain?
  11. Finally someone mentions Frank. Good post.
  12. Zone Rating is a little skewed. Alex Rodriguez is the worst third baseman in baseball according to it, and will most likely win a Gold Glove.
  13. QUOTE(Felix @ Oct 16, 2005 -> 01:36 PM) I'm hoping you are joking. He doesnt even try to chase after some balls, and just lobs to ball into the infield on others. The reason he has so many assists is because he plays in Fenway, and everyone trys to run on him since he sucks. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No, I wasn't joking. :headshake
  14. QUOTE(Felix @ Oct 16, 2005 -> 01:33 PM) I highly doubt the Sox would start Manny in the outfield if they got him.. he's a DH, no more. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It's official. The most underrated defensive player in baseball.
  15. Manny Ramirez is such a terrible fielder! no way. Blah.
  16. A person on SoSH last year around this time started a "Win it For" thread in which people dedicated the Red Sox fortune to family members and freinds or whomever who lived and died Red Sox baseball. It eventually turned into a book with a foreward from Curt Schilling, and while it may not be as popular over here as it was there, I think it will be interesting to see peoples comments. The post above is one that the same poster who started the thread posted at another White Sox message board I frequent, and it touched many. So without further ado: Win it For...
  17. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Oct 15, 2005 -> 10:18 AM) The things athletes put into their bodies contribute to this. The lifestyle lived by athletes is not as healthy as it seems. A good example is Daryl Kile. What really concerns me is that these athletes are role models for children. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> what types of things do these athletes put in there bodies?
  18. New Trier knocked off GBS. Everyone on here had me worried, because that team is way overrated. New Trier is in another league compared to that school.
  19. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Oct 14, 2005 -> 10:14 AM) So what can we say about the Angels approach at the plate, if they managed only a handful of hits off of Mark, and probably only won game 1 because of Jose choosing to go to 2nd instead of throwing home? Like you said, 2 sides to every story. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Pitchings half the battle there, my freind. The pitchers did there part for the Angels, but the White Sox certainly helped out. As for the Angels approach at the plate, I think it can be similarly said for them, when you have a guy like Buehrle about to enter the tenth inning pitching only 97 pitches.
  20. There are two sides to every story, and the 2005 Chicago White Sox are no different. This team has played flat this series, and to be honest, umpires aside, didn't deserve to win either game one or two. Yes, Contreras pitched lights out, as did Buehrle. It still remains this team made countless mental mistakes, and most of all looked embarrassing up at the plate. The last three innings Wednesday night Podsednik k'ed, Iguchi k'ed, Dye was down 0-2 and singled, Konerko k'ed, Everett k'ed, Pierzynski k'ed. Every batter swung at the first pitch in the last three innings last night except Crede on the game winner. Also, every batter was down 0-2 at one point or another, Crede included. The White Sox need to start picking there battles, take some pitches, and look like ballplayers up at the plate. With all that being said, the series is tied at one, and if the White Sox play as they did against Cleveland and Boston, all is well in White Sox land. Lets go White Sox.
  21. His tours of duty in the outfield are going to be brutal for him. He'll be verbally abused, I just hope the guy isn't physically abused.
  22. Currently I am a "Late Inning Replacement" but am wondering if it can be edited.
  23. New Trier's star reciever, lineback, and fullback are questionable for the game. I still think New Trier fights this one out. It should be a good match.
