If players reamined on their original teams...
redandwhite replied to redandwhite's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 22, 2005 -> 09:20 PM) I'm pretty sure the Sox didn't draft Foulke. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Correct. As soon as I posted that, I looked at a baseball card randomly and it was of Foulke in a Giants uniform.. -
We have been debating this for a while on other boards, but if players were not able to be traded, and players were drafted and remained on the team, what would the White Sox lineup look like? c - 1b - 2b - Tadahito Iguchi ss - 3b - lf - cf - rf - dh - Frank Thomas rotation: 1. Mark Buehrle 2. 3. 4. 5. bullpen: 1. Keith Foulke

For the third year in a row, I am once again asking for hardcore baseball fans to participate in the annual Scouting Report project, in which you evaluate the fielding characteristics of players on your team. If you have a few minutes, please drop by: tangotiger Thanks, Tom *** This guy does excellent work, and for the third straight year I have helped him complete his "scouting report," and want to pass it off to you guys. If you don't have 3 minutes to spare to complete the scouting report, I highly suggest you to read his other pieces.

QUOTE(The Critic @ Aug 22, 2005 -> 04:18 AM) I can't bring myself to vote in one of their s***ty polls when I don't give half a f*** what they think or say about the White Sox. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Amen.

I love Dye's aggressiveness there. This is great to see, especially with Timo not in the line-up for a change. -

It's a shame nobody can do anything else but hit home runs. I wish Ozuna was on there.. 2-1 White Sox on the Rowand homer.. -

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 21, 2005 -> 08:02 PM) Argument? I'm not arguing anything. I think it's pathetic to use 'retarted' to describe a baseball player. Do you not agree? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I agree, but it should have been dropped long ago. -

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 21, 2005 -> 07:58 PM) Mr Morals? No. I don't follow your life, or your being a father exclusively. I just think that it's pathetic for you to use 'retarted' to describe a baseball player, and I called you out on it. That's all. Nothing more. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Worst. Argument. Ever. -
One of my all time favorites. Overlooked on every team he plays on. More than likely he'll go through waivers, report to Pawtucket, and be back in September, but he'd be an excellent pick-up for the White Sox. Much more so than Blum..

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 06:12 AM) Umm...Mcgwire never got caught or at least not that I know of. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I could've sworn he tested positive to an over-the-counter testosterone precursor called Androstenedione, nicknamed Andro. I could be wrong though.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 05:08 AM) And the AL guy is most certainly Damon, I've seen that in a few places now. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm quite curious as to what places you've seen this report that makes you certain its Damon. Like I said earlier, I wouldn't doubt it, I'm just very curious.

Ozuna should be at short with Uribe at third.

QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 09:22 PM) No one wants to see that stupid HBO special.. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I will not be satisfied until everyone at Soxtalk has seen this piece. This is just the beginning, ha

QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 09:02 PM) What is also amazing is this undercurrent of stories popping up in the media that the steroids issue has been mis-reported all along. The Bob Costas show on HBO has now done two pieces wherein claims are made that steroids are not bad for you and aid in healing of injuries. The LA Weekly did a fascinating article saying that steroids have been scapegoated (they have a bad reason - sports memorabilia as a driving influence for keeping steroids out as it would limit the value of their product) and that Canseco points out in his book that it is the fountain of youth - and these claims are steadily being supported. Bottom line: it appears there have been no long-term studies on steroids. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I posted it a while ago, but the thread was closed and I haven't yet been given an answer on whether or not I would be able to post the link again. PM me if anyone would like to see the HBO piece.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 08:25 PM) Alright, we're on the same page. Kapler is certainly a beast, though. His forearms are bigger than my thighs. The guy should be able to hit a homer just by flicking his wrists <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
-
QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 08:29 PM) See, I never thought Kapler was really THAT huge, but he did have a good physique by bodybuilding standards. He was lean, cut, symmetrical and evenly proportioned. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Exactly. Great post.
-
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 08:09 PM) Sweet, thanks for making my story hold more water And redandwhite, I said exclude because it seems that you're the only Red Sox fan defending Kapler against steroids allegations. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I must have not made myself clear in my original Kapler post. I think Kapler has used AAS in the past and will continue to do so once his baseball career is over for bodybuilding purposes. I also believe that being how good of a guy he is, he didnt leave Boston for the money, but did infact go to Japan to clean out his system before returning. This is not to say that using anabolics has helped him any on the field. Bodybuilding does not exactly go hand in hand with swinging a baseball bat. I just want to add that with proper diet and supplementation, good routinely training, and above average genetics, the body he carries can be built without AAS usage.
