QUOTE(Nokona @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 02:36 AM) Under the radar guys. Under the radar. ...at least i hope... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No wonder Kenny Williams hasn't made any moves, he's stuck under a radar...

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 02:56 AM) I watched the game while working out at Lifetime. What a performance. Congrats to Brandon. One of the better pitching performances of the year. This kid became the stopper. Hopefully the rotation feeds of this energy and gets better. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> what lifetime do you go to?

I have Mark Buehrles first game used baseball card, and I think its beckett value is at the upwards of 75 dollars. It must be a very rare card.

You can't stress enough how important it is to play well down the stretch for a team to go far into the playoffs. July 31st last season when the Red Sox were playing about as poor as poor gets, and Nomar had just been traded, I made a post on another board stating "This team will not win the World Series." A Bill Mueller home run, sparks fly, and the Red Sox finished the season playing the best in baseball and that ride continued throughout the playoffs. Sure, the Yankees might have been all over the place, but there getting there act together when it matters most, and most likely will make the playoffs.

I actually don't have HBO but I've seen all the entourages. My buddies tell me about Cathouse, but I haven't seen much of it. It looks like a nice educational program...

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 09:12 PM) They've won 26 World Series. As much as you and the rest of RSN would like to believe you've got something on them, you don't. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The most successful franchise in sports. No ones doubting that.

QUOTE(ChWRoCk2 @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 09:08 PM) the cubs throw away the towel in front of their fans, way to show u guys still have hope <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Why would they have hope? The team sucks.

I'm baffled at this poll. 298 batting average or not, Player B would have never made it to my team.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 08:26 PM) The big dog on the block doesnt care what the little dog does. The yankees have routinely spanked the red sox over your life time. The Red Sox are the ones that have been trying to spite the yankees. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The Red Sox already spited the Yankees, and in doing so the tables have turned.
-
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 02:22 PM) I think you got that backwards, its the Red Sox who try to spite the Yankees. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Oh okay, thanks... :headshake

Griffey Jr.: 'I'm not going' to the White Sox
redandwhite replied to greasywheels121's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 05:17 AM) Yep, Crede and Uribe are extremely below average offensively this season. Those two are the biggest reasons for the Sox below average offense this season. How can you argue that Bellhorn isn't below average this season? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I've said it before and I'll say it again, Mark Bellhorn has been terrible this season. -
Griffey Jr.: 'I'm not going' to the White Sox

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 04:54 AM) You called me ignorant. You said you weren't surprised considering the source. In my book, that's a personal attack. I'm sure you won't get in trouble, so I'll just drop it. And since when do I have to form my opinion because of what some "fan scouting report" says? It sure sounds like a scientific judgment of a player's attributes. Thankfully, Bellhorn is going to sign with the Yankees tomorrow, so this lovefest for a well below average player will end. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If Bellhorn is well below average, I wonder what that says about Joe Crede, Juan Uribe and some other White Sox players. Yikes. -
...and I know this thread is moreso directed at me and my beliefs, but I just want to note that if this argument is truly on-base percentage vs batting average. I, and anyone sane should value on-base percentage over batting average. Edit: keyword being sane
-
Player B. It's a no brainer. Mark Bellhorn has been absolutely terrible this year offensively as has been explained on numerous occassions in the last week. That doesn't mean he can't help the White Sox. It must be pointed out once again, and even if this White Sox team isn't an "on-base percentage" team (whatever that means), Mark Bellhorn and his .216 batting average has been more productive offensively this season than all but three White Sox players. Take it for what you will, but when you can add somebody who immediately comes in and has the fourth best on-base percentage on a team with one of the best records in baseball for zilch, I think you make that move. Of course, this argument should be non-existant considering Bellhorn signed with the Yankees, and the White Sox are left with very few options in which any shot in the playoffs would be a near impossibility.

QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 02:39 AM) Ohio State game last year. Greatest. Thing. Ever. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I was there. Unbelievable.

...or they just want to spite the Red Sox as usual...

QUOTE(chimpy2121 @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 01:50 AM) I can't go this weekend but if you possibly have tickets for the game on Sept. 10th I might be interested in purchasing them. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Being a season ticket holder, I go to pretty much all games, but won't be able to make the game this saturday. Ill keep you updated though if something does arise.

QUOTE(RDriesen @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 01:36 AM) LAZY people get no help from me. if you are spending time on the net, yet dont have 2 min to sign up for a site, then i guess you dont care what it says <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yes, I don't really care what it says.

According to Ken Rosenthal, he's a Yankee tommorow at 1. :headshake
-
Mods, if this isn't the right place, feel free to move it wherever you would like. Does anyone have interest in going this saturday to the opener? If so, PM me.
-
Well I'm not going to sign up.

Mark Bellhorn would have made that play..
