  1. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Sep 6, 2005 -> 11:08 PM) It was a response to your line that he wasn't the best game caller in the American League. You were probably going to make your case for Varitek or one of your Red Sox guys. Instead of just saying congrats, you had to discredit somebody else's comment. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If somebody is wrong, discrediting them is warranted. Anyone in there right mind would tell you Jason Varitek, right now, is the best catcher in baseball specifically at calling games.
  2. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Sep 6, 2005 -> 11:06 PM) You're right, Chris Widger is! He called a great one in Boston yesterday. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> What does this even mean?
  3. QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Sep 6, 2005 -> 03:14 PM) Nearly all of the shirts being sold between the L and the park are anti-Cub shirts. My favorite, even though I wouldn't wear it, is the Wrigley Field, World's Largest Gay bar. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I usually refrain from wearing shirts like that, but this one was too much to pass up.
  4. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 6, 2005 -> 10:51 PM) Congrats to the best game-caller in the AL! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Congratulations AJ on the baby, but you are not the best game-caller in the American League.
  5. QUOTE(Brian @ Sep 4, 2005 -> 01:14 AM) Warren over Maine South 31-21. Guess they were up 31-7. 2-0 vs. 2 very good teams and on the road. Not bad for an overrated team. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Great win. Keep proving me wrong.
  6. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 4, 2005 -> 05:49 AM) Crede is currently making $400K and is a Boras client, I think it's safe to say that he'll be making more than that next year. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Arbitration should not be offered to him then.
  7. Roster: 56 Mark Buehrle, 52 Jose Contreras, 46 Neal Cotts, 34 Freddy Garcia, 20 Jon Garland , 32 Dustin Hermanson, 26 Orlando Hernandez, 45 Bobby Jenks, 43 Damaso Marte, 41 Brandon McCarthy, 18 Cliff Politte, 65 David Sanders, 51 Luis Vizcaino, 31 Raul Casanova, 12 A.J. Pierzynski, 36 Chris Widger, 27 Geoff Blum, 17 Ross Gload, 1 Willie Harris, 15 Tadahito Iguchi, 14 Paul Konerko, 38 Pablo Ozuna, 5 Juan Uribe, 23 Jermaine Dye, 8 Carl Everett, 7 Timo Perez, 22 Scott Podsednik, 33 Aaron Rowand *** Let walk: Timo Perez, Carl Everett, Paul Konerko, Geoff Blum* Resign/Arbitration: A.J. Pierzynski, Pablo Ozuna, Willie Harris, Neal Cotts, Jon Garland, Cliff Politte, Ross Gload, Luis Vizcaino, Joe Crede, Frank Thomas, Chris Widger. Already Resigned: Mark Buehrle, Jose Contreras, Freddy Garcia, Dustin Hermanson, Orlando Hernandez, Bobby Jenks, Damaso Marte, Brandon McCarthy, Tadahito Iguchi, Juan Uribe, Jermaine Dye, Scott Podsednik, Aaron Rowand. Free Agents to sign: Bill Mueller - 2 yr, 5 mil (06: 3 mil, 07: 2 mil) Rafael Furcal - 3 yr, 30.0 mil w/ team & player options for 09. (06:9.0 mil, 07:10.0 mil, 08:11.0 mil) Michael Tucker - 1 yr, 750k Trading Joe Crede and Willie Harris packaged with mid to upper prospects to land Lyle Overbay would be a priority aswell. If something could be done with Texas for Michael Young using Jose Contreras and a whole lot more, there would obvioulsy be no Furcal signing. *** Just briefly typing this up, and without any trades or any Uribe/Ozuna like pick-ups, my line-up would idealy look something like this: Furcal, Young ss Iguchi 2b Rowand cf Overbay 1b Thomas dh Pierzynski c Dye rf Mueller 3b Podsednik lf or w/ Gload dhing Furcal, Young ss Iguchi 2b Rowand cf Overbay 1b Dye rf Pierzynski c Mueller 3b Gload dh Podsednik lf Uribe if Gload 1b/of Tucker of Widger c 1. Buehrle 2. Garcia 3. Garland 4. Hernandez 5. McCarthy Baj, Vizcaino, Cotts, Hermanson Politte, Marte Jenks *** Just rough, and I'm a little upset right now, so I won't even look over it, but something along these lines I'd think is what I would like to do.
  8. Joe Crede deserves a bonus? He's one of the worst offensive players in the sport...
  9. Alright in that case, let me do a little outlining here.
  10. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 4, 2005 -> 04:28 AM) Can I ask what your dream scenario would be for the WHITE Sox this off-season, professor? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well this post wasn't mean spirited or anything... Anyways, It's too early to lay out the entire off season at this point, nor should I or anyone want to considering last time i checked.. this season was still going on.. but the one thing I am certain of is that I would rather take draft picks than pay a first baseman of Paul Konerko's caliber the money GHC suggested.
  11. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 08:09 PM) In my dream world, I imagine a deal like this getting worked out. 2006: $10M 2007: $12M 2008: Player option $12M; Team Option $14M; Buyout $2M 2009: Player option $14M; Team Option $15M; Buyout $3M That would be a guarateed 2/$24M. The Sox could say they offered him 4/48, with a guaranteed 2/24. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'd rather have the draft picks than give Paul Konerko that type of money.
  12. New Trier (1-1) beats Loyola (1-1) 24-21. New Trier dominated from the beginning, but could never put the Ramblers away. It was 14-0 at one point, but right before the half Loyola scored a touchdown making it 14-7. Finally, at 21-21 late in the game, New Trier kicked a game winning field goal with 35 seconds remaining, and an interception on the following drive ended it.
  13. QUOTE(AirScott @ Sep 1, 2005 -> 10:13 PM) well you have to score runs to win (obviously), and it's rare you score a run by taking a walk. so player B. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard.
  14. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Sep 1, 2005 -> 11:40 PM) The Baltimore Orioles have to be the happiest team in the world to be out from under that contract. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No doubt. His DUI was something they celebrated.
  15. Happy Birthday Tex, you old hag...
  16. a team with an injury will most likely pick him up and use the injury as an excuse to put him on the roster, if need be.
  17. speaking of tins, anybody have any empty tins?
  18. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 11:57 PM) Not a fan of Ivan Rodriguez? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well I scrolled over the OPS figures you later posted so without question player B should be getting the votes but I agree with Zoom.
  19. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 1, 2005 -> 12:32 AM) Why is he not a DH? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> He can obviously play the dh position, as anyone can, but he's not going to like doing it, and he certainly won't resign here if all he's getting is DH duties.
  20. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 1, 2005 -> 12:26 AM) I will ask again, and no one really seems to answer. What did the Yanks do to bolster there team? Boston? Oakland? Angles? Minny? Clevland? What did they do to make there rosters so much better at the deadline and wavier wire? What have they done? Don't we have a better record then all of them? Shouldnt they be more concered with getting a piece then we are?? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> All the teams you mentioned did something to atleast try and bolster there position of need. The White Sox chose to add a utility infielder who can't hit.
  21. Todd Walker is not a DH nor a third baseman. I think its foolish to suggest him doing so, but would be intrigued to see if Uribe and Crede could split time at third, with Iguchi volunteering to move over to short for the rest of the season. Obviously the likeliness of any of this happening is slim to none..
  22. QUOTE(Colorado Sox Fan @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 10:38 PM) If only Timo was the worst of our problems: Pierzynski, C 4 1 0 0 0 0 2 .263 Konerko, DH 3 0 1 1 1 1 0 .271 Rowand, CF 4 0 0 0 0 1 2 .278 Dye, RF 4 0 0 0 0 2 1 .271 Blum, 1B 4 0 0 0 0 0 1 .233 :banghead <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The problem is not getting on base and having a philosophy that is the exact opposite of what has been successful in years past.
  23. Ozzie Guillen should not be managing a burger joint, no less a Major League baseball team. All faith in him has been lost, without question.
