QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 07:55 PM) Jesus, just sat down, what happened to Mark today? an error on a double play ball to OCab got MB frazzled. The ump also missed a few calls after that but MB just didnt have it today... -

there is pleanty of game left.... its far from over... yea that sucked badly but we still have 7 innings to catch up... as long as the ump misses those close calls for CC like he did for MB we have a chance. -

According to weather.com (Sox vs Tribe), Rain will be there by 6pm. Other than that its cloudy and temp should be 48-52 degrees by the start of the first pitch. It looks like they'll get the game in on time. This is great news for me because i took the day off work today. Yep got in late from Boston last night... maybe i brought back home that World Series luck just in time for the season. No more thinking about 2007... Time to make the sports writers and sceptics look stupid... time to believe that a new season can bring new magic... time to have fun in 2008! A new season, a new time to believe! -
QUOTE(Brian @ Mar 26, 2008 -> 02:20 PM) While it sucks, I kind or understand the whole Crede/Fields thing. Fields should be playing everyday and not backing up. I'm just distraught that I have to watch Uribe bat for another year or however long he is here. Ugh. The only good news is. If Uribe once again gets off to a horrible start, Ramirez will be their waiting to take his job. Same goes for Crede if he bats .100 for the month of April, look for Fields to be up here by May. The one possitive about this situation is the Sox probably have the best defensive infield in the AL. Uribe is solid, Crede is amazing at 3rd, Konerko scoops everything at 1st and Cabrera just won the Gold Glove at SS. I am worried about the CF situation now that my boy JO is on the 15 day DL. But Brian Anderson deserves this oppurtunity to start in CF. Hell if he continues to hit during the regular season i would just have him be our leadoff hitter.

I wonder how many fans on here will actually give Crede a standing O on opening day?

Oh crap...Miggy Cabrera agrees to 8 more years with Tigs
GreatScott82 replied to Buehrle>Wood's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE(JFields27 @ Mar 24, 2008 -> 05:14 PM) Great deal for the Tigers, and to some that thought Miggy would ever be wearing a Whitesox uniform sorry to hear that your dream that was slim to none to begin with it over. Josh Fields is better anyways. I figured I would throw it in the middle and then just write a lot of stuff after that comment to see if anyone will call me out on it. Anyways who wants to be locked in to Detroit for 8 years I would be asking out after 3-4 years. Detroit sucks and has probably the worst downtown. Ugly. Detroit may be ugly, but their lineup is scary as hell... -
I just broke my finger 3 weeks ago and it still hurts and is healing slowly. It depends on his break, but it can take much longer than 2-3 weeks to heal. Also, Detroit is having some pitching problems this spring. Their bullpen isn't looking good, Willis is getting rocked, and who knows whats going to happen with Rogers and his health. Rumor has it that they are going after Hudson Street. THe problem is Detroit no longer has much of a farm after that Cabrera deal. You can have money, but if you no longer have a farm, its almost impossible to find starting pitching and bullpen help during the season. I hope the Sox take advantage of this.

Swisher to hit 3rd on days vs Lefties...
GreatScott82 replied to GreatScott82's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 23, 2008 -> 07:01 PM) The chicagosports article stated Owens would bat 9th vs lefties......yuck! Im a big Owens fan... i think he'll be good this year. But i truly believe Anderson should be in the lineup vs Lefties... -
http://www.dailyherald.com/story/?id=158968&src=162 I like Swisher at #3. Its probably going to be this lineup vs the lefties quit a bit this year: Ozuna 2b Cabrera SS Swisher LF Konerko 1b Thome Dh Dye Rf Pierzynski C Crede 3b Anderson Cf

Slumming it at the Urinal in the Desert
GreatScott82 replied to knightni's topic in 2008 Season in Review
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 22, 2008 -> 10:40 PM) Dont let him tease you, he'll be swinging from his heels in a week. that may be true.. but you have to give the guy credit, he loses his SS job to Cabrera, doesnt b**** about it. Then he is waived.. but brought back. The dude has gone through a lot this spring but has kept it cool and is having one of the best Springs out of all the Sox players. Maybe a 'scare' to lose a starting job has driven a fire under his booteh. Keep the hitting coming Juan... We could use that come April. -
From what i hear he is the 'next big thing'. That may be an over statement but at least we have a pitcher in our farmsystem to finally look forward to seeing kind of like McCarthy back in the day..

Say "Hi!" to ARow, Drop off Crede, Pick up Cain

Say "Hi!" to ARow, Drop off Crede, Pick up Cain
GreatScott82 replied to knightni's topic in 2008 Season in Review
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Mar 21, 2008 -> 11:09 AM) Boo, you had me all excited we traded for Cain for a minute. If KW picked up Cain, this would have been his best offseason since becoming the GM. Unfortanatley the Giants are NOT going to let him go. -
If Ramirez is the 'super-sub' who is the every day 2b, a broken down Richar? There is something fishy going on...
-
Im sure KW is working on some sort of a deal right now. I doubt they are going to let him go for nothing. Brian Roberts and Ellis seem to be the two names mentioned.... Is Ramirez ready to play 2b every day? I think Uribe was better defensively at 2b and Richar is injured.. Something has to be in the works.. Especially if Ramirez was playing CF today..they wouldn't put him out there today if they knew he is going to be our every day 2b. It should be an interesting 3 days.
-
Uribe will likely start the season at 2b. And he will be on a short leash. Dont be suprised if start the season with Crede-Cabrera-Uribe in the infield to start the opener. Its kind of funny with all the Uribe/Crede being traded talk that has happend. I think the 25 man roster is set. Starters Owens CF Cabrera SS Thome DH Konerko 1B Dye RF Swisher LF Pierzynski C Crede 3b Uribe SS Starting Rotation Buerhle, Vazquez, Danks, Contreras, Floyd Bullpen Jenks, Dotel, Linebrink, Thorton, Wasserman, Macdougal, Masset Bench Ozuna, Ramirez, Anderson, Hall
-
I think Jenks will get his 40+ saves. Wasserman is my suprise guy this year.. this guy just gets outs! He is the new and improved WUNSCH! Linebrink will be crafty enough to help bridge the 7th and 8th innings to get to Bobby.. he is a guy that this team desperately needed last year. If Dotel can be healthy for an entire season- look out! He has NASTY stuff and most hitters will tell you that they HATE batting against this guy.. so if something does go wrong with Bobby, he is a good security. I think Thorton can be an effective 6th, 7th inning guy. We will be seeing him a lot in the days Danks and Floyd pitch. Macdougal... i dont know what to say about this guy. He just may be the garbage guy. Pitch in games that we are blown out or blowing the other team out.. this can benefit him and help get him back on track. And i think the last spot will go to Masset. This team needs a long man/ 6th starter and this guy fits the bill. If Floyd ONCE AGAIN sucks butt early in the season, look for Masset to take his spot in the rotation. If that happens Logan will be brought up. For once the bullpen has decent depth. KW did a really good job with this area of the team this offseason.. Im not worried about our pen, im worried about our SP. Just like everyone else of course.

According to Steve Stone. Most pitchers in ST go through a dead arm period. Explains that in a pitchers 3rd, 4th start in spring training, pitchers arms re-structure themselves where there arms aren't sore but the arms are re-gaining strength. He says this happens almost every spring training to even the best pitchers in the league. Im just trying to shine a little possitive light on a shaky Floyd performance.... Oh also he is the 5th starter we have to remember. El-duque had an ERA over 5 in our championship season but still won 10 games. If Floyd can win 9 and Danks can win 12 i'll be happy. Will that be enough to win a division... not so sure.
