  1. The latest Score report said that Billy Beane said he is not trading Chavez. He also said that Chavez doesn't want to play for Chicago anyways. I'm not sure what to think of this....
  2. QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Jun 3, 2005 -> 12:56 PM) I hope this deal gets done but I am going to take the ol wait and see approach and try not to get over excited by every new rumor or whatever.... Thats the approach we should tall take to any rumor. Remember KW likes to hide under the radar as far as rumors and trades are concerned. This rumor seems to be right on KWs doorstep. He rarely pulls a move off when its the talk of town. Last season we didn't expect KW to acquire Freddy Garcia when he did it. And this year- if we aqcuire Chavez- it would be when we least think about it. Or when we think the rumor is in fact just a rumor.
  3. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 10:28 PM) Cotts as a starter? You've just got to be kidding me. Our bullpen has had enough difficulties lately, the last thing I want to do is rob it of 1 of its lefthanders. Would we bring Walker back up to take Cotts's spot in the pen? (shuddering). The fact is this...there is no one who could take over McCarthy's position as a backup to the Cubans (or anyone else who gets hurt) in our organization right now. This means that if anyone does get hurt and we've already traded BMac, either our chance at a title ends right there or we have to go and pay an even higher price for a pitcher. What happens if BMac is traded and on August 15th Contreras or El Duque go down with season ending injuries? You're past the trading deadline then without a backup plan. And Oh yeah, you're starting a 3 game set with the Twins. Some good points there. Cotts is a valuable asset to our pen. (Never thought i'd say that) Maybe KW can make a trade for Chavez without giving up BMac? We also have to remember that we would already eat up that huge contract and take that off Oaklands chest. That alone should be worth a solid prospect. We could possibly get away with just trading Crede and Sweeney and another top-prospect pitcher.
  4. If El-duque goes back on the DL and McCarthy is an Athletic. Then I can see KW making a move to acquire another starting pitcher. There is NO WAY we will go through that black-hole 5th spot again. Other insurance policies could be Cotts. He has been pitching pretty solid lately.
  5. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 09:17 PM) I'm sure that Chavez batting near Frank in the lineup would help his numbers greatly. anyone who bats near Frank usually has an increase in average. Tells you how important the big man is.
  6. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 09:13 PM) He didnt say anything, he said that he will come around and that hes not worried, he sounded pretty calm about the whole thing. Its speculation around Oakland that he is just pushing so hard to make the team win that he is swinging at some bad pitches. he also has no protection in the lineup. Right! Similar to what Pods said he did with Milwaukee last season. He simply tried to do too much. After Pods went back to what he knows how to get on base and didn't try too hard to too other things he turned back into the player he was in his rookie season. If Chavez is in a new atmosphere and realizes he wont need to do as much in this lineup as they expect him to due in Oakland- we will see a BIG increase in his average and his hitting.
  7. I know this trade is mostly all talk right now. But I couldn't help to think what our team would look like with full health and w/ the addition of Chavez. STARTING LINEUP: 1. Pods LF 2. Gooch 2B 3. Thomas DH 4. Konerko 1B 5. Chavez 3B 6. Rowand CF 7. Dye RF 8. Pierzynski C 9. Uribe SS BENCH: Everett, Harris, Widger, Ozuna, Gload (Perez gets sent down or released) World Series worthy?!
  8. Not sure. Heard many fans talk about it on the Sox post game show the past week or so. And when I heard that Chavez expects to be traded if the A's keep on losing on the Score yesterday- i found that very interesting. Now you have this article in Scot Merkin's section in the DH. Hmm I wonder if any of the ESPN douches know anything about this rumor?
  9. The last time KW labeled a player an untouchable- he ended up trading him in a package for Freddy Garcia (Jeremy Reed). Yes BMac is also labeled an untouchable but when the right guy comes along KW never hesitates to pull a trigger. Our team needs alittle bit more power. Chavez can provide some power. I don't know for some reason I see KW pulls the trigger on this trade come the trade deadline.
  10. eh if there is some good news- we at least won this series. As long as we continue to win series' we should be in good shape the rest of the way. Ozzie did make some bone-head moves, but that happens to the best of em. Now lets all relax on the off day- then focus on beating the crap out of the tribe.
  11. Konerko- will snap out of it. Rowand- has snapped out of it Dye- on the verge of snapping out of it (if he hasn't already) Everett- i hope he will snap out of it Chavez- will snap out of it Crede- He is what he is. No more than a .250 hitter or less. I say we end the Crede experiement very soon!
  12. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 07:16 PM) How exactly do you know beyond a shadow of a doubt that he will? Come on! He is batting .218- with his talent there is no where to go but up.
  13. QUOTE(Reddy @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 07:10 PM) Chavez is 28 Chavez has 167 HR Chavez has 566 RBI Chavez has 189 2B Chavez has a .350 OBP Chavez has a .273 AVG Crede is 27 Crede has 57 HR Crede has 207 RBI Crede has 76 2B Crede has a .302 OBP Crede has a .253 AVG hmm that whole thing about crede being better... im not too sure. Crede is not better. Chavez is big time! But the contract thing worries me. KW loves flexibility- he also wants to re-sign Pauly, AJ and Jon G to extensions- wouldn't acquirering Chavez prevent that? But damn- having Chavez would be sweet as hell. We have to remember its still June 1st, he WILL get his average up, esspecially if he wants out of Oakland this year.
  14. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 06:28 PM) Can someone explain to me why B&B would be interviewing Eric Chavez? They usually interview players from the local teams or from teams currently playing the local ones. Seems a little strange to me. Also, for those that heard the interview, I'm curious as to what reasons he gave for his struggles? He was on B&B to promote the MLB package on Direct TV- he is the spokesman for it. When B&B asked about his struggles- he stated he doesn't know what is wrong, but he is a student of the game and constantly watches film to help him out. He said he'll eventually snap out of it. Right now he is batting .218 with 4 HRs and 23 RBIs. Definitley a down year for him. If a trade does happen I would expect Beane to wait until Chavez gets hot so his market value increases. Although he shouldn't expect too much in return due to his contract status.
  15. QUOTE(qwerty @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 05:45 PM) No, more like he understands how small budget teams and baseball in general works. exactly what i thought. i dont think he wants to be traded, he just understands that with his large salary it makes no sense for him to be there. He also said he doesn't want to be the next Mike Sweeney. He'll be traded this year or next year.
  16. On with Boers and Bernstien explained why he is struggling this year and explained his team's struggles. Says if the A's keep losing- Beane will likely trade him to a contender. He says that there is no way (with his large contract) that he will be there when they are doing a rebuilding process. He said "I signed this deal knowing i will be on a contending team, and once the A's become a non-contending team I expects to be dealt to a contender." He also said Beane might wait a year to see if he can fix things for 2006 before he thinks about dealing Chavez. Kind of an interesting interview. Who knows what to expect with this situation...
  17. I was at the game last nite and we were in section 531 in the upper tank. We were chanting DYE DYE DYE!! It sounded like a threat, and then he blasted the walk-off and I got everyone in my section to chant it. What a game. I went to Mondays game as well- so thats 2 in a row they win at the final at bat. Glad to hear Freddy is okay. Cotts is doing a lot better. Marte is struggling. Pollite is having an awesome season so far. And out of all people- Crede hit a homerun?!? I bet my brother 5 bucks he would strike out- and I lost. It definitley was a memorable game. Hopefully Dye keeps up his hot all around game and our starting pitching stays on track. Lets sweep em tonite!!!
  18. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ May 31, 2005 -> 08:08 AM) Good post. When the hell did Conan do that "interview"??? Haha I made that Conan avatar awhile ago. They never appeared on Conan unfortanately.
  19. QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 31, 2005 -> 05:15 AM) I love it when the Sox win. We all love it when the Sox win. The beer tastes better, the sun shines brighter, and we are all happy.
  20. Lets face it. We all have had a love-hate fan relationship towards Frank. I don't think anyone can question his career #s and what he has accomplished for our Sox over the last 15+ years. I do remember wanting to not re-sign Frank after his subpar 2002 season when he was a free agent. He always made it public about his contract needs and that just pisses off most fans (ABOZ I know where you are coming from), he also had a bad attitude when things didn't go his way before 2002. But after he signed back with us in 2003- he seemed to have changed for the good. He had a solid 2003 season (should have been an all-star) and we just missed the playoffs. In 2004 he was on pace to repeat what he did in 2003 until his injury. And even with his injury and all the comments Ozzie made towards him- he has been extremely classy, and has been an excellent team player. Everyone seems to bring up old negatives in regards to Frank, but in reality he hasn't done anything negative to the team over the past 3 seasons. He has changed for the good and is near the end of his career. (could be the last in a White Sox uniform) I personally am happy he is back- as our offense could use a presence like Frank to help stir up the opposing pithers thought process. And as far as Frank messing up the team chemistry: I'm not buying it, out team will still have great team chemistry. Ozzie wont settle for less. I was at the game today and when we gave Frank that standing O- i got goosebumps. Definitely a great moment in White Sox history. Welcome back Frank. Hopefully your hip thing aint serious and hopefully he didn't return to the lineup too soon.
  21. I think the big standing ovation that Frank will get today (by the way i'll be there in sec 151) will help boost our teams spirits and offense. I expect the whole offense to be solid today- and hopefully it will carry on into June.
  22. I'm going to the game tommorow and in a 2-2 tie in the 9th- Frank will step up and blast the walk-off homer as the Cell erupts and the Sox begin a new winning streak!!! Welcome back HURT!!!
  23. QUOTE(whitesoxjr27 @ May 28, 2005 -> 11:17 PM) i just have this weird feeling the twins are gonna slow it down a bit. dont ask me why but i just feel they may run out of gas. We all hope they will run out of gas. But over the past 3 seasons we have been the team to run out of gas and the Twins had enough of it to finish the race. Our pitching has been excellent for the most part- now if we can only get our hitting to come around we should be in great shape, and we should be able to maintain our first place lead. But until we get our offensive swagger back- the Twins scare me. I don't like it how we don't play them until August. But nowadays maybe its a good thing?
  24. Wow the damn Twins are on our tails. Maybe its good the game is postponed. The Rangers have won 7 straight- maybe a day off will cool them down and we can sneek by with the win tommorow. Good news for me: I get to see Buerhle pitch on Monday when I go to the game vs the Angels.
  25. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ May 28, 2005 -> 05:38 PM) Were at 31-16, not 16-31. Just thought I would clear that up. True. But the Twins are right on our tales. And the pitching can carry us only so far. We need some sort of offensive spark. Rather it coming from a trade or someone coming up from the minors is the big question. The fact of the matter is something needs to happen for the offense to get going. Uribe = slump from hell Crede= back to the old Crede after a nice start. Everett= started strong, but has diminished big time. Dye= got hot for about a week, but now he looks dead again. Rowand= struggling a bit Konerko= swinging the bat good. but needs to be more timely Iguchi= has been carrying the team Podsednik= no problems w/ him. he just needs to be on base more. AJ= cooled down after a hot week.
