I can understand why Beane wants to dump Chavez salary and contract. He obviously wants to rebuild. But I don't understand why KW would trigger such a trade. This would sufficate his chances to re-sign Pauly and Jon G to long term deals. And also damper any chance to make any other mid-season moves. Chavez is also struggling this year (more than Crede). He is signed through 2010- that is insane. JR wouldn't allow KW to make such a move. I believe the team salary this season is around $75 mill. If we add him- it would bump up to approximately $85mill. Don't get me wrong Chavez can do it all. But like you guys said before- why alter a team that is 29-12 and has the best record in baseball? Maybe add another arm down the road, but its only May.

Nice way to finish the series! Now its time for Garcia, El-duque and Contreras to bounce back to beat the Cubs!! The last time we lost 3 in a row we followed it with an 8 game winning streak. Can it happen again? GO SOX!!!

I also think June 13th vs Arizona. Frank is definitely going to wait until he is at home. He loves the homecrowd and i am almost possitive he will get a standing ovation when he is called to the plate for the first time. I like Franks attitude during his time off. He says "don't interview me in the clubhouse, they have great chemistry and I don't want to mess it up, im not part of the team yet." He also said "whenever Ozzie puts me in there i'll be happy." "I expect to get days off and if Ozzie wants to use me as a pinch-hitter im all for that" It sounds like Frank knows he is at the end of his career and he desprately wants to win a title- even if he doesn't play every day. Imagine the look of the opposing pitchers face when Frank comes in to pinch-hit in the 9th? This is going to be awesome!

Oreos vs. Sox Game Thread (5/14 @ 6:05 p.m. CT)
GreatScott82 replied to Jabroni's topic in 2005 Season in Review
Its going to be a tough battle tonite. If I recall Cabrera dominated us last season. Freddy will need to hold his own if we have a chance of winning. Should be an awesome match-up. Hopefully the offensive can give Freddy 3-4 runs to work with, he hasn't had that much run support so far this season. -
Broadcaster Change for Cub-Sox Games

QUOTE(Sox1422 @ May 13, 2005 -> 04:51 PM) Too bad Robin wants nothing to do with being a broadcaster. he couldn't express that enough. Yeah- maybe down the road he will. Hopefully the Sox would consider a broadcast trio of Robin-DJ-Hawk. Last nite was awesome. -

Thats great news!! Hey speaking of our broadcasters- I really enjoyed the trio of DJ-Robin-Hawk last nite. There weren't any of those long-awkward periods of silence. -

We did well vs Zambrano last season, we hammered Maddux as well. I don't see any different this season. The only pitcher who scares me is Mark Prior. El-duque is going to need the game of his life for us to win that one.

QUOTE(YASNY @ May 13, 2005 -> 02:19 PM) First of all, there are no "restricted" free agents in baseball. Garland is arbitration eligible next year, so the Sox have control of him for 2006. NICE! Oh yea i forgot about that arbitration stuff. Awesome. I still think KW should reward him with a solid 3 year deal.
-
Does anyone know whats the status of Jon G's contract? I know El-Duque, Buerhle, Garcia, and Contreas are all locked down for next year but im pretty sure Garland will be the only free agent? Will it be restricted or unrestricted. And if unrestricted, what are the odds of re-signing him? He's having an awesome year and I think KW should reward him with a solid 3 year deal- similar to Buerhle's contract. Not that I want to think about next year already (with this years success) but im sure its in the back of the mind of many other Sox fans as well. Anyone with info on this matter please put your two cents in. GO SOX!!!

What kind of "analyst" rips uniforms? I love our uniforms- the home and the alternate. And even Chris Berman (the guy who said White Sox fans are the worst in baseball) said the stadium looks much better. I don't mind when an analyst argues a point about the way they are playing. But whats the point of ripping the organization and team as a whole? I love this- we are 25-9 and most critics can't stand it! Keep on winning boys!

QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ May 12, 2005 -> 01:51 PM) Funny, when ESPN ripes the Sox everyone here says they suck and they don't know what they are talking about... But, when they give them credit, most here are all over ESPN like flys to a pile of s***.. We rip them when they can't back there arguments up. Come on- they had the Sox finish 4th in our division! How were we not supposed to rip these guys? Of corse were all over this because ESPN is a national thing. Its good to see us getting national attention. ESPECIALLY, after they predicted us to suck. Its always good to prove critics wrong- and so far the Sox have done that.

I'm guessing he will be back between May 30th- and June 13th. Herm will probably wait 1 more week to decide if his pain has continued to decrease at all. Then he will be sent down for a rehab assignment- probably at least 10 days. Anyone know how long rehab assignments usually are?

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ May 11, 2005 -> 10:10 PM) Woa...woa...woa...although I love your avatar, I'm not letting you get away that easy. Please, explain this one. LoL. Everytime Timo is in there it seems like we win. Maybe that is why i said that, who knows? Would you still have Dye out in RF or Timo? As of now I would say Timo. Although Dye came up with that hit today- he still doesn't do anything for me. A lot of times Timo sparks the offense. As far as Ozuna- he's a super-bench player. He can play many different possitions and he can get on base in many different ways (walk, bunt, hit exe) Plus his speed is an awesome asset to have off the bench. Do you guys think Dye can possibly come around? And if not- how long before Ozzie and Kenny pull the plug and decide to A. bring up Sweeney or Anderson or B. make a trade for an OFer? Then again Konerko and Rowand are also struggling. I guess when your team is 25-9 and in first place you don't want to mess with it too much. Now lets take 3 of 4 from the Birds!! -
Your a die hard fan when you plan your entire college schedule based on the White Sox. NO Night classes for me! Your a die hard fan when you break your tv remote 3 times after chucking it against the door after a tough loss. Your a die hard fan when you post on Soxtalk! Its good to vent after a bad loss, and to savor the victories with other Sox fans after a good win.

I like the mix up. But man Perez doesn't leadoff! He is slow as hell. When was the last time he stole a base? Anyways after 33 games I have an idea of what the offense should look like: 1. Pods LF (solid) 2. Iguchi 2B (solid) 3. Rowand CF (struggling, but is swinging the bat well, plus i like speed @ the top of the order) 4. Everett DH (strugglin a bit, but still a solid RBI producer) 5. Konerko 1B (he's bound to wake up, isnt he?) 6. Uribe SS (he's heating up fast) 7. Pierzynski C (solid offensive catcher) 8. Dye RF (can we please bring up Anderson or Sweeney?) 9. Crede 3B (better than last year, awesome 9th place hitter) -

QUOTE(kane0730 @ May 11, 2005 -> 03:24 PM) Anyone want to try and guess the line-up today?? Here's mine Pods-LF Harris-2nd Everett-DH Kong-1B Perez-RF Rowand-CF Perz-C Crede-3B Uribe-SS That sounds good, Dye is playing like he is dead and it'll be nice to see Willy back in there. Maybe he will be a nice spark in the offense today. Lets just hope El-duque keeps his walks at a minimum as that is what cost us the game yesterday. 8 WALKS?! we didn't deserve to win. -
You are right Jim the 7 walks by Contreras didn't help, but Cotts, Vizciano and Marte all walked there share as well. Walks bit us in the ass tonite. Go figure- when our offense shows some life- the pitching sucks. More Bad news: Twins won so we are now only 3.5 games up. On a possitive we are still 3-2 on this road trip and can still come home with a 4-2 record. Good news is- we don't have to think about this bitter loss too much as tommorow's game is an afternoon one. BIG GAME tommorow! Avoid being swept at all causes! Especially vs a division bottom dweller.
-
Why the hell was shingo in there when you have Hermanson and Pollite left on the bench? Its a proven fact Shingo needs at LEAST a 2 run cushion to work with. Safe to say that Ozzie lost this one. WTF!!

"Juan Uribe runs down the line like a lizard" -DJ :uhoh There you have it we have Jurrasic Carl and now Juan Lizardo.

what are the best starts in MLB history?
GreatScott82 replied to Hideaway Lights's topic in Pale Hose Talk
If the Sox play .500 baseball the rest of the way they will finish: 89-73 that might just be enough to win the division, but thats pushing it. I see them at least playing .600 ball the rest of the way and finishing: 102-60. Hey it can happen? Gotta believe baby! -

okay good. Carl needs to get on for Pauly. Pauly is waaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyy over-due. Then Rowand and Dye need to do the samething. Hell- they just need to get on freaking base. Lets score some runs damn it!!!
