We need 6 strong from Jose. If we get 6 strong-the bullpen should handle the rest. It's been awhile since Cotts, Hermanson and Vizcaino got into a game, I can see Ozzie plugging them in tonites game. I think if our offense gives Jose 4 runs to work with-he should be just fine. -
Twins and White Not a Factor in the Central?
GreatScott82 replied to Pasqua's Mailman's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The Tigers will be a sub .500 team this season. But thats it! They have improved, but they absolutley have NO starting pitching depth. It will be a 3 team race all the way to the finish. Twins vs Sox vs Tribe. The Twins always get off to slow starts, and when Sabathia comes back Cleveland will even be even more dangerous. IMO 90 wins will take it. Divisional play will be extremely important and right now the Sox are looking awesome vs divisional rivals. The Tigers have been a thorn in the Sox side for the past 2 seasons, well enough is enough and its time for a change. Sorry Young I think those 3 opening day homers when to your head. I hope the Sox continue to get no respect. I want to sneek up on teams. -
Is the Fundamentals deck accesable to all fans? Meaning can fans go up there to just hang out to watch the game? And if so how do you get up there? Are there stairs from the concorse or something? Also are the club level seats cushioned, or are the scout seats only cushioned? That would be awesome if all the new green seats will be cushioned. From TV the stadium is looking better and better each year.

As a member of the Buerhle fan club, can i pre-maturely give Mark Buerhle the Cy Young? AWESOME game. Good pitching on both sides. Lets hope Freddy continues where Mark left off when he faces Millwood on Wednesday.

It was definitley a good prank. You got me, forgot that it was April 1st. Remember last year when Mike North pranked us by saying the Sox trade Paul Konerko to the Reds for Ken Griffey? Good 'ol April fools jokes! Gotta love em

the Cubs have pleanty of there own message boards. The White Sox and Cubs hate eachother and lets keep it that way. This message board should be for Sox fans and Sox fans only. I am not a big fan of this idea as I can't stand the Cubs at all. In fact this message board just might turn into a warzone with all the hatred toward one another.

Kruk and Reynolds AL Central Preview from ESPN
GreatScott82 replied to maggsmaggs's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Does anybody really care that ESPN didn't mention the Sox? WHO CARES! As you guys said before ESPN hates the White Sox, they are East Coast biased and worship the sCrUBS. I remember watching Sportscenter or Baseball Tonight after a Sox win (especially if i missed the game) and even when they win they'll show more highlights of the team that lost and say "Oh yeah and by the way the Chi-Sox win 3-2". It pisses me off. I'm glad they have Comcast Sports Net now. Now I could just watch the highlights in the morning whenever I want. As far as ESPN is concerened, I hope there is a two team race down the stretch, and I hope its between the Royals and White Sox -
Why is everyone in a rush to trade Willie? You can't teach speed. And what happens if Iguchi turns out to be a bust. I say wait till mid-season before they trade Willie anywhere. His speed will be a valuable asset off the bench during those late inning situations. Keep him around for awhile. We do need a backup Util INF but we can trade other players to aqcuire that.

A lot of people are mentioning Rowand in the 3rd slot. And now that I think about it, he would indeed fit in there. He can A) hit for power. and B) is capable of stealing 20-30 bases. A wise Sox fan mentioned to me how about Pods, Harris and Rowand leading off. And it made sense..why not have all that speed clustered at the top of the lineup. (Granite Iguchi will likely take over Harris spot- but he still has speed) Remember the mid-90's Cleveland Indians? They had Lofton, Vizquel and R. Alomar in the 1-3 slots. And they dominated the Central for years! And with a Pods, Iguchi, Rowand trio leading off the game we can see some major run manufacturing! I would like to see this on opening day: 1. Pods 2. Iguchi or Uribe 3. Rowand 4. Konerko 5. Everett 6. Dye 7. Pierzynski 8. Crede 9. Uribe or Iguchi (that way you will have 4 speedy guys in a row batting) What do ya think?

KW and JR offered him $60 million after his first operation when he was about to return to the lineup. Maggs turned it down and stated "Lets just hold all talks until the offseason." After Maggs returned- he told KW to hold all contract talks until after the season is over. About a week or two into his return is when he was diagnosed with that bone marrow adema disaster. So thank you Maggs for being greedy. You would have tied us down financially for 5 seasons, but you and Borass's greedyness is a big reason we now have: Dye, Iguchi, Hernandez, Garcia, Pierzynski, and Hermanson. Only the Tigers would have offered a player in which they are clueless about his health that ridiculous of a contract. But then again, the Tigers are known for their insane player contracts *cough, *cough Higgenson

1. I agree about what you said about Scott Podsednick. He is the X-factor. 2. Crazy Carl Everett. He lost 20 lbs and has been working on his game harcore this offseason. If Carl has another 2003 type season, Ozzie better find a way to keep him in the lineup when Frank returns. A-Row said it best "If Carl goes, we go" That tells you right there that not only will PK anchor the lineup but Crazy Carl will take on half the load as well. 3. The Combo of Garland/ Contreras/ El-duque. I know its cheap to put those 3 in one key but lets face it these 3 guys are super important to a White Sox successful 2005 campaign. A. Garland- if he can FINALLY break out and win 15, 16 games that would be scrumptalesent. But lets say the typical Jon Garland comes out and he gives us another 12-13 game season- thats solid for a 5th starter. The key for him is that he NEEDS to eat innings. B. Contreras- if he has more dominant games then poor ones he can possibly win 13-15 games. The key for him, LAY OFF THAT sinker and change-up! His fast ball is amazing, he needs to use it more. Contreras alone could make us, or break us. All eyes will be on him in 05. C El-duque- no surprise there, he NEEDS to stay healthy. He was solid as a Yankee last season going 10-2 with a stellar ERA. His late season arm problems makes me worried, though he did pitch well in the postseason. It will be up to Ozzie to get him out of there early every start. If he can give a solid 5-6 innings every start, i would consider it a success. KW improved our bulpen for a reason, and i think he will take a lot of the pressuee of el-Duque come April, May until he warms up and his arm is at full strength.

QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Feb 3, 2005 -> 05:31 PM) but I don't think we should rule out the possibility of Maggs playing LF for them. It looks like the Tigs are getting stood up again. Jim Hendry said they are satisfied with their new OF of Burnitz, Patterson, Hollandsworth, Hairiston, and Dubois. He said Boras is asking for too much money and too lengthy of a contract. I CAN however see the Mets going after Magglio. With their new tv deal they want all the big names they can get. However don't count Detroit out just yet...

Wow the Trib is sooo biased it makes me sick. How can Barrett be ahead of AJ? AJ had the best offensive #'s for a catcher in the national league in '04. Wasn't Barrett in the National League last year? Of course he was. The Cubune just can't admit that the Sox have a better outfield, better bullpen, better defense, AND a better catcher. I admit the Cubs have a better starting rotation and infield, but that is it. How come this doosh didn't mention the bench? If he would have mentioned the bench we would have won 5-2 in those categories.

The Twins should be the favorites every year until they are finally de-throaned from the top of the AL Central. Twins keys to 4-peating: Johan continues his dominance, continue the stellar defense, stay healthy, Joe Nathan continues to shut down the opposition. Biggest strength: Defense and Scrappy Baserunning Biggest weakness: Other than Joe Nathan their bullpen is weak. Indians keys to succuess: They are definitely on the rise, last season they had 5 young all-stars, and surprised many teams. They made some pitching improvements and supplied some depth this offseason. If they stay healthy, and the starting pitching can hold their own ground then maybe they can compete for the central division title. Biggest Strength: Solid Offensive Line-up Biggest weakness: Relief pitching. I'm happy nobody is picking our White Sox to win the division. I think all the critics and sports reporters are focusing waaaayy tooo much on the loses of Maggs and C. Lee. This team is now offesnively balanced for the first time since the mid-90's. They clearly now have the best bullpen in the Central with the aquistions of Vizciano and Hermanson. You can also argue that the Sox have the best rotation in the Central with the aquistion of El-Duque. They improved their defense with the aquistions of Podsednick and Dye. They improved on the basepaths with aquisition of Podsednick and Iguchi. It's amazing how people are not focusing on the fact this team is balanced. Well the one good thing about not being picked to win the division is that they will surprise a lot of teams. Biggest strength: starting rotation and bullpen Biggest weakness: possible lack of offensive power

I say get rid of him. I understand he is frusterated, but it takes a real perfesional to keep your mouth shut.. *cough-*cough Rowand! Rowand got shafted waaayyyy more than Willie ever did. And Rowand kept his mouth shut and gave his all every oppurtunity that arised for him. Patience has payed off for him. Rowand is a true team player. Willie on the other hand had to open up his mouth and start whining. I hope KW read that article and is busy as we speak working on a plan to get rid of him.

who knows why they would make a trade with a rival. i heard on the dan patrick show, when they were going over the hot stove stuff. I know Ozzie is tight with Urbina. I doubt it will happen, but who knows what to expect until the season starts.
-
I was flipping through the radio today and heard on ESPN Radio w/ Dan Patrick that the Sox are interested in Ugueth Urbina. And he said something about trading Willie Harris for him.. Can this happen? Whats with Urbina's status..is he still on Detroit? Did I hear something wrong?
