  1. We are in position to get him now. He wants to play here. And we all know he wants to finish strong going into his contract year. He'll do everything in his power to try and help us win the AL Central. Get it done Kenny!!!
  2. Buster Olney was on SC this morning and he mentioned that there is a lot of chatter about the White Sox eventually putting a claim on him. It should be a very interesting few days
  3. QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Aug 23, 2010 -> 10:20 AM) Available in 8 days... Would this even show up on the back of his baseball card? It would probably look like this LA Dodgers/ox
  4. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Aug 23, 2010 -> 10:13 AM) That doesn't sound good. lol i meant to say a injection of power.
  5. If the White Sox gain 1 game on the Twins in every 7 games they play, they will force a tie breaker. The key is they can not afford to go beyond 5 games back. The Twins are bound to come back to Earth eventually. Hopefully when they do, they will hit hard times kind of like how we did after our hot streak. The fact of the matter is. Its not over yet. Not even close. Obviously if we can continue to play ball like this we are in BIG trouble. But I truly believe this team has one more serious run in them. Call me peter positive but this team seems to come back to life when they are on the verge of extinction. I think Kenny Williams is going to add to the pen AND add a significant bat to the lineup. He knows he has to at this point. All arrows are pointed toward Manny Ramirez. If that happens, it will be a lethal injection to a struggling lineup.
  6. The White Sox are 2.5 games worse than Boston right now. We are the team in the AL most likely to get him according to Rosenthal. Not to mention we are one of the very few teams Manny will accept a trade to. I think this story may have something to it. . stay tuned. Here is the Rosenthal video.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 21, 2010 -> 09:55 PM) The curse of the Swisher trade struck again tonight, with Betemit scoring the winning run. And the curse of the Vazquez trade struck tonight as Lillybridge decided to slow down on the Quentin double.
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 21, 2010 -> 09:50 PM) We've lost 7 times in a month in the opposition's last AB. That is pathetic.
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 21, 2010 -> 09:46 PM) I'm waiting for the inevitable criticism by Ozzie about Sale. No criticism. Our entire pen has pretty much sucked for the month of August. You can't keep blowing late leads like this. I wonder how many games we have blown late in the month of August thus far. It has to be around 6 or 7.
  10. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Aug 20, 2010 -> 03:19 PM) The White Sox would get first dibs over the other two. Hell yeah. . get it done!!! He would do wonders for our lineup.
  11. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 20, 2010 -> 12:27 PM) Damon has a no-trade clause in his contract, so he's going to be tough to move or acquire. Not totally true. Remember it was between Detroit and the Sox before he signed that 1 year deal with Detroit. I can see it happening if Detroit is willing to trade him within the division.
  12. QUOTE (Big Daddy Kool @ Aug 20, 2010 -> 02:29 PM) Buster_ESPN Heard this: Johnny Damon and Brandon Inge are currently passing through waivers. They were placed on waivers Thursday. I find it hard to believe they will make a deal with a division rival but since they are out of it, this could happen. BTW Stoney said on the SCORE that next week something big will go down. When B & B asked him "what is that going to be" Stoney waffled around the question by saying we will find out next week. I wonder if he knows something we dont?
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 17, 2010 -> 10:48 PM) I really hope the Twins do well in the posteason so I don't have to read a lot of these comments on here about how Twins shouldn't be taken seriously cause they suck in postseason. I don't really care how they do in the postseason, because if they make the postseason, then they beat us in the standings and that's all that matters to me. The Twins have the best offense in baseball. They will likely at least make the ALCS this year if there starting pitching holds up. And your right I could careless about their post season early exits. At least they make more often than not.
  14. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 17, 2010 -> 10:43 PM) It WAS a good call. What are the f***ing chances that Matt Thornton doesn't get Thome out. Lord, the overreaction is ridiculous. You swing as hard as you can at everything, you'll run into one. This has just been our luck lately. The overreaction is acceptable. You blew a HUGE game to the team your chasing for the division lead. That was a 2 game swing right there. You go from being truly back in it- to a team who will be in desperation mode these next 2 games.
  15. I want to throw up right now. That game was ours for the taking. The f*cking Konerko DP killed our chances to win the game. If you have to rely your setup man to go 3 seperate innings you know your pen is in shambles. The Twins own us and the division.
  16. Minnesota has a pretty damn good team and their offense is one of the best in the league. Do I think we have a better pen and rotation? Yes. But LATELY their starters have caught fire and their pen is managable. I don't even want to think about how good their going to be once Morneau returns. KW really needed to get a slugger via the trade deadline to compete with Minny's offense during the 2nd half. KW said "he'll let them screw it up". Well its evident that some of the screws are coming loose via being 3 games back and all. He still has time to aqcuire a bat via the waver deal and he better do so. I would love to take a chance on Manny, but im not so sure that can happen or not? I mean how bad is he injured? The Brad Hawpe recent availability seems very intruiging to me. Though his numbers are down, he has a good track record and could stick it at the Cell. Do I believe this team can catch the Twins? Yes. This team has proved to come back from the DEAD. Three games out is no where near DEAD. Winning tonights game would be HUGE. And I couldn't be more confident with Danksy taking the hill. If there is one guy who seems to have an edge over the Twins lineup, it is Danksy! Lets go white sox!
  17. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Aug 16, 2010 -> 02:20 PM) Left fielder Manny Ramirez would be risky for a team to claim; the Dodgers likely would let him go, assuming that Ramirez was willing to waive his no-trade clause. The claiming club then would assume the pro-rated portion of his $20 million salary, which on Aug. 31 still would be more then $3 million. The deferrals in Ramirez's contract would make no difference in the amount his new club would pay; only the timetable might be affected. Ramirez’s contract stipulates a $5 million salary this season and deferred payments without interest of $3.33 million each on June 30, 2011 and ’12 and $8.33 million on June 30, 2013. If Ramirez cleared waivers, he would be eligible to be traded to any team -- and he would be wise to waive his no-trade clause for an American League club that would allow him to serve as a DH and build his value for free agency this off-season. Ramirez, recovering from a right calf strain, could begin a rehabilitation assignment this week. The Dodgers cannot place him on waivers until after they activate him from the disabled list. — Ken Rosenthal If Manny wants to come here and boost his free agent value- i'll be all for it
  18. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Aug 15, 2010 -> 06:08 PM) The real good news is we have no excuses this Twins series. Our 2 best pitchers and a solid Buehrle are goin. No lost Garcia s***box game. Its up to the offense, Serg, Thorndog and Sale. I am not worried about our starters at all. Im getting worried about the pen. The have been scuffling and losing leads late this past week. Putz the last 2 days and in Baltamore for example. We can't be losing these late leads going into the stretch here. . On a bright note Chris Sale has been looking really good!
  19. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Aug 15, 2010 -> 04:40 PM) We have a 3 game series upcoming with the Twins. We'll be back on top the division Thursday around 10pm. Who with me? The Twins are hot right now. And we are playing pretty bad baseball losing the last 3 series. This is not a good combination going into Minny. The key will be game 1 on tuesday. If we can win that one I think we can take 2 of 3 and gain a game. If we can't beat them and they win 2 of 3 or sweep us then its obvious they truly are the better team so we wouldn't deserve to win the division anyway.
  20. When is Manny off the DL? That is when things can get very interesting.
  21. QUOTE (RME JICO @ Aug 12, 2010 -> 03:18 AM) It can't be variable and change within the 48 hours, so it has to be when the player is actually put on waivers. That is the order of precedence that teams can acquire them. So the start of the 48 hour time period. So as of August 10th, the Sox could have claimed Manny because they were in 2nd place at the time they claimed him and Minny could NOT block the deal correct? Obviously this is all a hypothetical, I am just trying to get a better understanding ot the waiver rules like everyone else.
  22. This series will be EPIC!!!! Couldn't be more excited to go tonight. GO WHITE SOX!!!! Hey Twins: This is your NIGHTMARE ON 35th & Shields!!!! Go Get'em Freddy!!!
  23. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 8, 2010 -> 10:01 PM) Wow... I would have sure love to have Berkman for nothing. That + EJax would have been a hell of a deadline. Yea. . i loved their approach of 'not taking away from the current product' meaning he'll trade only from the minors. KW will still get a bat. It may not be a significant bat- but he'll definitley get something.
  24. I would rather take one last crack at Manny before we go to other options.
  25. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 5, 2010 -> 08:37 AM) Wow. What the f*** is with this Kotsay obsession???? I have a feeling Kotsay is going to do something HUGE either to help us clinch the division or something important in the playoffs. That usually happens where there is a lot of hatred toward a player on a successful team.
