  1. I like Hamilton as well, but wouldn't be surprised if Utley took it. The lefties are going to have a field day with that porch in RF. Also, it looks like they're trying to speed up the event this year. Not sure how exactly, but heard that this morning. We'll see if there's a noticeable difference this year.
  2. Henry Rodriguez of the A's just struck out the side. I only saw the last AB of the inning, but he touched 100mph on the gun. Pretty impressive.
  3. QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 12, 2008 -> 01:20 AM) Yep yep yep, it's almost here. The Hold Steady's next record will be out in a week. Anyone heard any of it yet? Heard they've been streaming it on a myspace or something for weeks, so its likely out there. Haven't gotten around to listening to it though, but am intending to pick it up when it hits the shelves
  4. QUOTE (kane0730 @ Jul 11, 2008 -> 02:41 PM) The Over/Under for the game tonight is 11 runs. The over seems like free money to me!! (Count on a 4-3 game) I wouldn't touch that with a ten foot clown pole. Well maybe the over...but certainly not the under.
  5. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jul 9, 2008 -> 09:55 PM) Winning Ugly!!!! Go Q!! Yeah, that. Winning Ugly is very fitting for these past two nights. Oh, and that Dotel character is pretty darned good with the game on the line.
  6. Dotel looks like a different pitcher out there. 10 pitches, 9 strikes, 3ks. Mercy. Think it's fairly obvious that if Dotel steps his game up in the 9th while Linebrink regresses, Dotel should be the first guy they go to if Jenks can't go.
  7. Let me start by first saying I'd go with the hot hand. If someone is lighting it up towards the end of the season, that would be a big deal and likely alter this. With that said, this is tough. Our staff as a whole has been remarkable, but when you break it down there isn't clear standouts. I think it would look something like this for me: 1) Danks (been our most consistent and a solid mix of consistency and stuff) 2) Contreras (this is of course assuming he does not break down, but if he keeps form, his stuff is as good as anyone's on the staff. has proven before he's up for the big game) 3) Buerhle (our paragon of consistency. have to go with what you know here and it splits up the lefties) 4) Floyd (great stuff when on, I'm assuming he keeps it up in the 2nd half to warrant this) Pen: Vasquez (he's been too tenative for my liking, and that combined with his lack of performance in big games scares me..doubt this would happen though)
  8. NCAA Football 2009 comes out fairly soon (July 15th, I believe). Downloaded the demo on Xbox Live the other day and played for a bit, seemed pretty cool. Per usual, this will feed my college football fix for the next two months until the season gets in swing. Oh yeah, online dynasties this year look like a really cool idea. Maybe a soxtalk dynasty if it works well and folks are into it?
  9. Time to float a crazy idea....ichiro? (not sure if this one's been mentioned yet) Think he's virtually untouchable due to the marketability he provides for the Marniers, but if they wanted to REALLY blow that team up and start over you'd think his name would be mentioned, right? He'd warrant a King's Ransom, but he'd certainly be worth it. /endpipedream
  10. Have had the game on in the background, so haven't been paying full attention but I just heard Mientwicz (needs more consonants, I assume) is playing right freaking field. I knew the Pirates were bad, but they're letting him play RF? Absurd. Please stop me if this has been discussed at length already...
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 10, 2008 -> 07:14 PM) Does Jeff Cox not know what the score is? Holy cow, that's worse than anything Cora ever did. Think I can safely agree here...that was one of the worst I've ever seen. Hit to shallow left, guy w/avg speed on 2nd, and the LF has a gun? Ridiculous.
  12. Earl Weaver. He was all about sabermetrics before it was cool, man. (But seriously, Weaver was damn good judging by what I've read...as I'm obviously not old enough to remember him in action)
  13. As much as Floyd's been "lucky" w/his BABIP rate, it sure is nice to see a pitcher of ours miss bats. The strikeouts are certainly encouraging and leads me to believe he'll be solid in the back-end of the rotation for the rest of the year just on stuff alone.
  14. Offense looks to be lying down, which is a shame. We've hit Kobayashi well this year. If we can knock this to three and get sweaty joe in there it's a ballgame.
  15. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 27, 2008 -> 07:14 PM) Total buzzkill tonight. Wasserman is f***in' garbage. Let this be a lesson to those who slurp players because of good springs. How is any of that Wasserman's fault? Granted, I know he hasn't been great but he did what needed to be done there to get out of the inning. Konerko just decided to his best Cecil Fielder (?) (insert random bad defensive 1st baseman here) impression.
  16. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ May 27, 2008 -> 07:12 PM) No, you are just showing how far out of touch you are. You are suggesting cutting someone that is owed more than 24 million dollars in the next 2 and a half years, and has hit over 30 HR's the last four years. Wait, the "let's cut Konerko" comment was serious? Unreal. Luckily the Indians Bullpen sucks. Maybe we can make this interesting.
  17. QUOTE (chimpy2121 @ May 27, 2008 -> 07:11 PM) A couple of weeks ago with Dotel. Really? I obviously missed that one. Wow. I don't get how that ever works.
  18. Also, when in the heck was the last time the fake to 3rd/should be a balk/throw to first move worked? Cubs/Sox Series like 5 years ago? (Sean Lowe I believe)
  19. Probably the 50th person to this Konerko party, but it's wonderful to see he's suddenly lost all ability to play baseball. The guy looks like a little leaguer out there. Maybe he'll get to hit off a tee on his next at bat? Mercy.
  20. Again, I have no idea of the lineup here...please tell me uribe is not even close to coming up...
  21. "Daggumit" - Hawk. That about sums it up nicely. Nice, Old Timer.
