QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Dec 23, 2005 -> 05:35 AM) I think Jon wants out, he's never really seemed overly excited about being here. Then again, I'm only going on the bits and pieces we see or read in the media. Right after they won the WS, Gail Fischer (is that her name?) told him winning the WS had to be the biggest moment of his life. He kind of hesitated and didn't agree with her and she bailed him out by saying: "Well, it has to be ONE of the biggest moments in your life". His reaction kind of stayed with me. Good bye and good luck Jon. Thats just Jon's attitude about attitude... he tries to be calm and looks like he doesnt care about anything. Although from what I hear from people close to him is that he really does care just doesnt know how to show it or something like that.
  2. back when TO did the sharpee and played with pom poms... that was great... hell dancing on the star against the cowboys was great too.... but yeah this season he was more annoying than anything else.... and Im not even a big D-Mac fan.

I dont mind trading Garland... but I hope if the right deal doesnt come up that KW considers holding on to him until the trading deadline and than making the move......I just dont want to get ripped off.
  4. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Dec 22, 2005 -> 06:42 PM) I didn't mean anything by it, I'm just saying that could be a reason he's not like Tony is because they werent with each other a lot. At the same time he has a complete off-season when he is home 24/7 or at least most of the time. And usually coaches let their children travel with them sometimes... im sure he saw a lot of his dad.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 22, 2005 -> 06:22 PM) I want talent in the pen and our pen is lacking that at this moment. A deep bullpen will be such an aid to get into the playoffs. Almost always teams with strong strong bullpens make the playoffs in this day and age. Not many teams have them, but when you do, you don't blow your leads and are able to get momentum. You also are able to keep your team in games which lead to come from behind victories. How about the Indians and Twins than . As for closers im 100% confident in Bobby Jenks.... and if he gets hurt or cant handle it I have no problem going to Cotts or if he is ready to play Hermanson.
  6. How can his son be SO much different than his father. No one is always like their dad or hell really want to be like their dad. But this kid looks like he is 100% opposite of everything that Tony Dungy is.
  7. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Dec 22, 2005 -> 06:01 PM) Shane Matthews makes that all star team as well. Nah Shane Mathews is way above those 2.... as pathetic as that is.

difference is even the scrub players the backups like Timo Perez can make a million dollars..... hell even guys that never make the majors make 100,000's to play each year and hey Borchard has never really actually stayed in the majors and made millions. So its not like only the good players get paid everyone gets paid as long as you have just a little bit of talent. The best fries maker at McDonalds still only makes 6.25 . As for the whole Jon Garland thing.... ive always been a fan of his so it sucks that he is all but gone but if we can fill a hole with him like the last 2 bullpen spots I wont really lose any sleep. I just hope that we get some good players no scrubs.
  9. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Dec 22, 2005 -> 05:30 PM) LOL yeah, he's a "manager" of the 3 and out like none other. Actually Id lead that honor to Jonathon Quinn/Craig Krenzel.
  10. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Dec 22, 2005 -> 05:54 PM) Yeah, but Tony Dungy or his wife might read soxtalk and get angry. That guy that was run over by the truck probably didn't have any family that reads this website. Idonno if that was meant to be in green or not but it was kind of dumb anyways. I feel bad for the Dungy family but in my opinion someone who commits suicide is pathetic and if they value their life that little dont deserve to live. Especially a kid that probably has had almost everything he ever wanted since Dungy has been raking in the money.
  11. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 03:38 PM) 3 years $24 million is a joke for Jon Garland, and I am not surprised at all that it pissed him off to the point where he wants to be a free agent. Well usually the initial offer isnt apposed to be a really high one..... and im sure that it was offered b4 the monster contracts Toronto gave out.
  12. I thought I read somewhere that Fogg in his first 3 innings of work did a pretty good job nice era but in the last 3 it was pretty disgusting. If thats the case it sounds like he has the makings of a very good reliever.
  13. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 09:35 AM) I've never seen a guy who's 7'1" be such a pussy and try to lay up the ball instead of dunking it hard. I wish Sweetney was 7'1" and Chandler was 6'8". Chandler isn't worthy of his height because he doesn't even use it. I can't believe we traded Elton Brand for this bum. I can now see why Skiles was using Chandler off the bench last season. He doesn't even deserve to be starting. How many times does Chandler jam? Almost always its how he gets most of the very little points he does...... And Idonno if you watch defense or not but Chandler definitely uses his height on the defensive side. Yes Elton Brand is the better overall player but you really have no clue what your talking about.
  14. Than we can write a book and dedicate a whole chapter on how after we let him go we resigned him because he is the greatest reliever ever!
  15. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 05:20 AM) In '04 Walker wasn't trying to get guys to just pull the ball. Last year he was which is a main reason why most of our guys couldn't hit a slider low and away if you gave them a 50 foot bat. He also tried to get Arow to hit for more power which backfired. And you know exactly what he did how?
  16. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 07:26 AM) You guys really need to trade for a center, stat. Tony Battie has been mentioned around the league, but we'll probably want some good talent in return, he's actually been playing pretty well this season. Other guys you could look at, David Harrison from Indiana, Joel Pryzbilla from Portland (Ratliff started today, Joel may be in Nate's doghouse), Kelvin Cato and Lorenzen Wright. Why would we make a trade and lose some of our young talent and future of the franchise on a season we aint going anywhere anyways. In the offseason we will have plenty of money to sign anyone we want probably 2 impact players right now im hoping Al Harrington and Nazr Mohammed. Add that with what looks like a top 3 pick from the knicks and a middle of the road pick for us we should have some serious talent going into the 06 season.
  17. when you score 62 points you dont need to pass the ball... especially when you only do it in 3 quarters
  18. Ive read a lot of magazines and i have a lot of nerdy friends and they all basicly say the same that the xbox 360 is the worse of the new systems.... I dont care who makes it I care which is the best.... and 360 isnt.
  19. I told myself not to expect too much from this team at the begining of the season but I still get pissed off. I cant wait till next year than when I actually have some high expectations for the bulls im going to go crazy when they lose.
  20. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Dec 20, 2005 -> 08:26 AM) To earn a spot that quickly Broadway would have to be dominating the minor leagues, as McCarthy did. Were his numbers this year consistent of someone you'd expect to fly through the system?. Seems doubtful to me. That's something the Royals would do. Not really because Broadway will start the season in AA. So if he has a good season he will be invited to spring training and if he pitches well and we have a spot open I wouldnt be surprised at all to see Broadway in 07.
  21. idonno we traded for Garland right when he was elgible to be traded so Id consider him a sox prospect. SP:Mark Buehrle SP:Jon Garland SP:Kip Wells SP:Brandon McCarthy SP:Josh Fogg C:Josh Paul?/Mark Johnson 1B:Carlos Lee 2B:Ray Durham SS:Michael Morse 3B:Joe Crede LF:Aaron Rowand CF:Mike Cameron RF:Magglio Ordonez DH:Frank Thomas bullpen:Scott Eyre, Anthony Webster, Fabio Castro, Wickman, Howry(I know Giants drafted him but how early did we trade for him?), Frankie Francisco, Roger Ring?, Matt Ginter? Not so sure about the bullpen guys but heck that team isnt so bad. I put Carlos Lee at 1B because assuming we never brought in f/a's or anything thats where he would play.
  22. Im just going to say this and keep it simple. Anyone who would rather have Crede than Blalock is a homer. Im not even that big of a Blalock fan either.....more of a Tex fan.
  23. well whatevr the case we should have 5 quality starters to begin the 06 season... than even if we lose Contreras and Garland we will have 4 good starters and Ive heard in a couple places that a guy like Broadway might be ready for the 07 season.
  24. at the begining of the season I thought Hillenmeyer would be one of our biggest weaknesses on defense but he actually has been pretty good. Id say our CB's are the biggest holes on our defense right now and if it wasnt for our D-Line being so good and pressuring the QB they would both be torn apart.
  25. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 20, 2005 -> 08:15 AM) Only if its not 500 bucks when its released. If thats the case I'll be passing. And its way better then the new nintendo thing. Eh the new Nintendo thing(Revolution) wont be as good graphics wise but it should be a lot cheaper and its apposed to allow you to play all the old nintendo games and s*** which makes it a lot cooler.
