Steve Smith fined $15,000
I thought it was a dumb penalty and everything... its one thing if your pushing or something like that to an official and another just touching one.....Next time I saw that official id run him over by "accident" during the game.

Baez to the Mets?
Didnt Seo perform pretty well as a starter this season too... I dont know why the mets would want to give up either player for Baez.

Jose Contreras's Demands
QUOTE(Adam G @ Dec 30, 2005 -> 02:57 AM) I'll take AJ for $500, Alex. Id say for Garland Mental, Coop, and AJ are what helped the most and for Contreras Mechanics, Mental, Coop, and AJ were what helped the most. Uribe's defense while helped was prob the smallest denominator in factoring in their improvements.

Kreutz has retorts for Vikings' 'fat slob'
QUOTE(Goldmember @ Dec 30, 2005 -> 12:18 AM) save face, keep/contend for job, ... Yeah so maybe some of them that are contending for a starting job will play hard but I dont think they will play dirty.

Kevin Millwood to Texas
I dont think this is such a bad signing for the rangers... like someone else said everyone was laughing when the Tribe signed Millwood too and he only led the league in era.... will he do that again noooo but now the Rangers have a pretty decent starting staff. Padilla, Eaton, and Millwood all for sure starting. Than a guy that has showed flashes of greatness and I think has the talent to be a stud is Juan Dominguez... and Im guessing maybe one of their prized pitching prospects like Volquez takes the 5th spot. I find it funny when someone said they had no prized pitching prospects when really they have 3 prospects that BA probably rates higher than B-Mac.

Marlins set to sign Olivo
QUOTE(HoosierSox @ Dec 29, 2005 -> 11:25 PM) Yeah I remember everybody going crazy here because we gave up "the greatest catcher of all time" in Olivo. Its not that really I think moreso people were emotionally attached to Olivo and he also just hit a HR that day vs the cubbies... he was a fun player to watch and loved seeing him on the southside. The player that we could miss the most from the trade is Morse although he has had problems with that steroid policy I think he also got screwed somehow by it too cant remember.

KW goes under the knife

The Count's future
QUOTE(aboz56 @ Dec 29, 2005 -> 10:00 PM) All I can say is that the White Sox better have the money after 2007 to give Buehrle a deal. If that means not signing Contreras, trade away. Exactly... we have 5 starters under contract now for not only this year but next year too... I dont want to pay Contreras to have 6 starters and than because of that 11 million not be able to afford Buehrle.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Dec 29, 2005 -> 10:54 PM) Anyone else concerned maybe the Vikes play dirty this weekend with nothing on the line? Noo... maybe Pat Williams but not 2 worried about the other players.... when they got nothing to play for why should they even play that hard?

Foxsport.com Offseason Grades
QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 28, 2005 -> 04:43 PM) Anyone who thought the Sox had a bad offseason last year was nuts (at the time). Besides the Lee/Pods trade, the White Sox made very smart moves by filling the holes they had (RF, catcher, 2b, 5th starter). In a sport where there seems to be a million rumors about what players a team is looking at, KW did a great job of making the smart choice of getting the best available catcher and 2nd baseman at the positions where he didn't have high caliber players at. Actually the way people looked at it was we lost Magglio/CarlosLee prob our 2 best hitters and replaced them with Pods who just hit .242 and Dye who hasnt been healthy forevr. We got a catcher who was a big clubhouse cancer in San Fran not exactly a hot commodity, an unproven 2B from Japan especially after Kaz Matsui turned out to be a super bust, and our rotation had 2 solid guys, a 12 win Garland, and 2 big ??? pitchers. Not 2 mention Frank wasnt going to be ready for awhile and no one thought he would last anyways. And than our bullpen other than Shingo was a bunch of possible scrubs who havent really had much success.

R the Sox goin to get a CF
QUOTE(JoshPR @ Dec 29, 2005 -> 05:29 AM) Why would they trade him in the first place?? Ohh yeah Philly will go, yeah we traded you Thome now take the guy you gave us back They prob cared more about the prospects than getting Rowand who was probably more of something to keep the fans a little happy showing they got an actual major leager in return from a WS taam. As for Gathright I dont see how he is any more of a sure thing than Anderson if not less.

Films
Well when a movie is about King Kong who is a giant gorilla.... I tend to ignore facts like why isnt the ice breaking lol.... the one thing I thought was dumb was why was the arm shooting a missile at him when there was a human in his hand. And than those planes shooting machine gun bullets when a human is there.... they would all of been arrested for that crap.... or at least dishonarbly discharged or whatevr.....

Chad Johnson Planning Greatest Endzone Dance Ever
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Dec 23, 2005 -> 05:27 PM) I personally hate the Cowboys and I found nothing funny about it. Of course I've always been pretty big on sportsmanship and not showing up your oponents. Well I guess thats where we differ... I tend to find that stuff hilarious.... now TO obviously took it a little 2 far off the field this season but on the field he is one of my favorite players to watch for his talent and celebrations. But Nite you arent a cowboys player and if you met TO in rl and started a fight with him... you would be the one in the hospital because he would totally beat your ass down.

All I know about soxfan1 is he always accuses me of stealing his name whenevr we are in the chat room during white sox games

Lovie Smith
Idonno I think the only offensive upgrade we need for the offense is a TE. The WR's arent great but I think Bradley/Berrian/Gage are good enough to compliment Muhsin the way this team is setup. Than a course some OL depth would help too but those can be taken in 3rd/4th round. I think its important to keep the defense up.... So I wouldnt mind us taking some defensive talent in the 2nd or 3rd round in next draft either.

Indians expected to sign Jason Johnson
well both are a downgrade of Millwood and an upgrade of Elarton is the way i see it.

ANOTHER football team in Chicago?
I really dont think a 2nd NFL team would do too well here..... This is such a Bears city that there is no way they would get enough fan support for a 2nd team..... although I guess if they win the people will come anyways.

Tony Dungy's son dies in Florida
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Dec 23, 2005 -> 07:50 AM) Anybody that is messed up enough to take their own life honestly has issues that we will never understand. Hence I am one of the few out there who refuses to pile on somebody who commits suicide, because we will never understand just how tormented and confused the person was. Or maybe you ever thought that person was just a coward and took the easy way out......

Chad Johnson Planning Greatest Endzone Dance Ever
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Dec 23, 2005 -> 01:04 PM) No, it wasn't. It was however one of the most pathetic displays in the history of sports though. It depends if you like the cowboys or not....Obviously if your a cowboys fan in any sort you didnt like it but me not being a cowboys fan at all found it funny.

Josh Fogg non-tendered
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 23, 2005 -> 09:08 AM) Fogg could turn into a solid reliever, but Viz is hands down a better reliever than Fogg. Despite what some people say about Viz, the guy had a total rubber arm and pitched very very good in the 2nd half of the season with the Sox. The harder he was worked the better he pitched. Fogg doesn't have that sort of resilient arm and I've yet to see him put up good numbers out of the pen. Plus Fogg isn't any more attractive than Sean Tracey or Baj, imo. Lets not be a homer ok ... He might not be as good as Vizcaino was in the 2nd half of the season but he is a much better option than Tracey or Baj and he would be the 6th starter incase one of the starting 5 go down.(assuming we trade one of the 6 we currently have).

Twinkies done adding offense
Rondell White is a pretty good player but idonno about cleanup hitter..... But playing DH should definitely help him stay healthy which is a big key for him. If Morneau steps up to the expectations everyone had of him their offense can be pretty good.

Cavaliers @ bulls 7:00 pm... on tnt.
QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Dec 23, 2005 -> 03:18 AM) Bye bye 9 point lead, hello 8 point deficit WHEN THE f*** IS THIS TEAM GONNA GET IT TOGETHER I think you need to calm down a little lol. This team wasnt built to win this season.... the point was for guys to get better and have our real playoff run next season when we add 2 impact players in F/A and 2 draft picks and by the way it looks so far possibly a top 3 pick from the Knicks. If we add the likes of Al Harrington and Nazr Mohammed... than draft like Rudy Gay/Adam Morrison plus some big guy with our other pick.... and still suck start getting mad but if you really expected much from this team at the begining of the season you were just being a homer.

Josh Stewart... HE GONE!!!
QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Dec 20, 2005 -> 06:18 PM) yeah, that was ugly. I've seen guys take liners before, but that one looked a little extra nasty, like it really hit a bad spot, and with all the problems he had with his circulatory system it obviously did. same thing happened to a Texas pitcher I think a couple years ago except it hit him in the arm and i think he broke it... Ricardo Rodriguez I think was his name.... he was pitching good b4 that and has been crap since.
