  1. I hope this is a joke thread..... although if Grossman gets hurt I definitely wouldnt mind going to Blake before Orton.
  2. QUOTE(VAfan @ Jan 2, 2006 -> 06:49 AM) We'll see whether Contreras signs an extension with the Sox. I believe he will. If you don't think he LOVES it here, then you didn't watch the postseason I watched. Do you want me to find the articles about how he finally felt comfortable with a manager who speaks his language, how he was reunited with his family while in Chicago, etc? I know baseball is a business, but I'd be shocked if Jose left of his own free will. As for stats - what part of Tejada's postseason line do you like? The guy never draws a walk. Juan drew 5 walks in the ALCS and WS, even though we all know that Juan is a free swinger. But in the postseason, give me the great starter and the clutch-hitting great defensive shortstop. Well a course to the media your always going to say the right thing the majority of the time and say Chicago is a great city blah blah blah... those articles really dont mean much. And while their arent too many head managers that speak spanish their is nowadays at least a couple players on the teams and id say at least 1 coach majority of the time. And Contreras was reunited with his family in NY when they played the Mets I think. And whats in the past is in the past... Tejada is a much greater hitter than Uribe will ever be they arent even close. And the fact you said clutch hitting SS for Uribe's case is laughable.
  3. If KW wants Taveras even though I dont really like him all that much im going to support it because im just a dumb fan and his job is baseball.... and last season I thought we were going to stink so just shows how much I know. And even though im not a big Taveras fan the bashing it seems that 3-4 posters keep going on him is totally wrong and just plain dumb.
  4. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jan 2, 2006 -> 01:27 AM) No doubt that's where they'll try to upgrade, probably through the draft. It'll be interesting to see what happens with Daunte Culpepper as well although I can't see him leaving. Here's a coaching candidate from left field though, Denny Green. Not really I dont think he is going to leave Arizona to come back to a franchise that fired him after making the playoffs.
  5. yeah that can very easily be a playoff team next season they definitely got the pieces. They definitely need an upgrade in my opinion in the LB position but other than that solid defense. On offense I guess maybe a couple OL could help.
  6. Didnt even wait till Monday damn...
  7. QUOTE(WCSox @ Jan 2, 2006 -> 12:20 AM) Most players on the fast-track to the majors don't even go to AAA. Triple A is where most of the career minor-leaguers go. Thats not true at all.... they dont spend a whole season at AAA all the time but most prospects do spend sometime in AAA unless their majorleague team is really bad than they could just go straight to the majors. A course their are players who go straight from AA like Jenks and Cabrera but those are usually prospects who are more than ready for the big leagues already and isnt the norm.
  8. Idonno it sucked seeing the backups in there kind of..... I know you could see in Urlachers face he was pissed he didnt get a chance to finish the game or at least play more.
  9. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Jan 2, 2006 -> 12:10 AM) If Taveras truly has .360+ OBP potential in him, I wouldn't mind having him regardless of his lack of extra base hits. His defense and arm in center field adds a lot to his value. I just wouldn't want the current .325 OBP Taveras. What dont you people understand that when you skip AAA completely and its your rookie season in the majors you arent going to be amazing. The fact that he had the season he did just shows how talented Taveras since most rookies who are the type of players Taveras is could only dream to do that good their rookie year.
  10. difference between Lebron and Jordon on their 2nd years is Jordan played with crap and Lebron actually has a good team around him. Hughes and Iglauskis are good players and Gooden/Marshall are above avg.
  11. well 1st quarter was fun but now all starters are gone and its no fun watching all the scrubs.
  12. I still remember games from last spring training.... I remember one when Garland got hit up a little an a inning and was smiling and everyone was getting pissed off lol..... good stuff.
  13. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Dec 31, 2005 -> 07:57 AM) I just saw the Smith tackle before on TV. Newman began the tackle before he went out of bounds, so I have absolutely no idea what Steve was thinking there. It could help prolong our season hopefully too. It doesnt matter if you begin the tackle inbounds if he is out of bounds you need to stop.... same thing with the QB basicly you can be in the process of laying a hurting and even if u cant see if he throws the ball you need to stop or you get the bs roughing the passer.
  14. While always a bulls fan first... Reggie Miller after Jordan was probably one of my favorite players in the NBA. I was really sad his last season had to be the one where Artest fuked it all up for him.
  15. I dont give a damn about his OPS... when your hitting at the top of the order all I care is you getting on base. And yes for a rookie it was a great season considering most rookies dont do that well when they first make it to the big leagues. If im right he made the jump from AA so whats to think he wont improve greatly considering how well he did his first season.
  16. Idonno why u guys are trying to make dumb jokes like he sucks.... he just had a great rookie season when he started from begining to end so pitchers had time to adjust to him and he still did a pretty good job. He wasnt amazing or anything but being at the top of the order your rookie season is no easy feat. For example look how our old prized prospect Jeremy Reed did when they tried to bat him at the top and thats with the luxury of having a great hitter like Ichiro ahead of you. And Reed was apposed to be much more ready for the big leagues than Tavares. That being said on this team I have no interest in him at all.
  17. When we had the one possesion where all Kirk did was hold the ball for a bit than shoot and miss I knew they would blow it after that.
  18. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jan 1, 2006 -> 01:00 AM) Nice 1st half for the Bulls. Up 49-45. They need to keep up the intensity in the 2nd half and get a nice win. screw it this season is lost go for the L
  19. Why do people get so upset of ticky tack things like this? Its 1 fuken year off big deal my god.....
  20. QUOTE(AirScott @ Dec 31, 2005 -> 09:33 PM) on Kyle Boller, don't forget that Minnesota and Green Bay aren't exactly lock-down defenses, either. Yeah but GB has been surprisingly good vs the pass although that could be because teams dont need to since their run defense is so bad... and the vikings have some talent on defense this season.
  21. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Dec 31, 2005 -> 08:15 PM) Canseco thought he used them, and he's been pretty accurate. Keyword there being thought.... the only players that mean anything in his book are the ones he knew for sure. He also thought Clemens was a roider too and Im guessing he thinks other players could be roiders too. Either you know or you dont know and Canseco doesnt know when it involves Tejada.
  22. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Dec 31, 2005 -> 03:09 PM) For most of his career Miguel Tejada was in BALCO central, its not out of the realm of possibility that he saw Giambi get paid and decided he wanted to jack his numbers up to the next level with Victor Conte's lab. And for KW, he needs to have no doubt in his mind. If he thinks that Tejada could possibly be involved, he needs to stay the f*** away, proof or no proof. It just isnt as easy as saying "Innocent until proven guilty" So because Tejada played where the Balco company was located there is a chance he might of used steroids? Im sorry but that is just dumb until you get any proof at all other than he played in Oakland and Palmiero tried to blame him...
  23. Tejada doesnt need to convince anyone because there is no evidence against him lol.....
  24. Wasnt Tejada's thing that he gave him not even a steroid. I thought the league looked at it and it was a legal supplement that Tejada offered him anyways... or maybe im completely wrong.
  25. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Dec 31, 2005 -> 04:20 AM) As I said, he named him as a possibility. He didn't say he did steroids directly. I read the book. Naming someone as a possibility doesnt do anything for me. Either you know or dont know and in Tejada's case he doesnt know. He also said Clemens is a possibility so... Herbert Perry was also named as a possibility
