QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 22, 2012 -> 11:32 AM) I dont think they expect some of the lesser characters to have the success of cap/iron man/spiderman etc, but I think Marvel finds it important to at least give some of them movies to see how they test with audiences. Im sure some of them will bomb and will not be touched again, but I think there will also be some surprise hits. Ant-Man and Black Panther arent as obscure as you think they are. Guardians of the Galaxy, that is pretty obscure. But, just like the comics themselves, these characters are there and there are writers/directors who want to tell their story. I'm not a big comic fan by any means but I knew the storylines of Capt America, IronMan, etc. even Green Lantern I knew about. I have honestly never heard of Black Panther and only thing I remember about Ant-Man is he gets really big and small... If I consider myself above avg in knowing the superheroes and I have no idea who they are I consider them obscure. That being said if they are well done and the previews look interesting I will still probably end up seeing them just don't see the more casual moviegoer being interested.

QUOTE (Carter224 @ Jul 22, 2012 -> 10:45 AM) Ugh. Her goggles that flipped up to look like ears, I couldnt stand that. Her costume was very ehh, but is there anyway to design a good costume for Catwoman? I was just saying acting wise she was definitely great in the movie... and I'm one of the people that left a little unimpressed with it all.
-
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 22, 2012 -> 08:40 AM) I had very high expectations, and they were exceeded. One could say Catwoman could have been left out entirely, though. Really? She was one of the bright spots of the movie, I thought she did a great job in the scenes she was in.

I'm not sure how everyone had trouble understanding him, I didn't have a problem whatsoever....

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 21, 2012 -> 07:55 PM) The quotes from the female byster were pretty disturbing. Seems like the guy is a creep, but whatever. If he hits his wife at any time in the future, I would hope he's thrown in jail for a long long time. Sox add another veteran. It's time to start winning series again. Team has been simply pathetic since beating KC two of three. We could have lost all 3 of those games and the Royals have been s*** since. Yeah it doesnt sound pretty but we dont know what goes on behind closed doors she can be equally abusive to him... some people are like that. I'm not going to root for him specifically but I'm not going to worry about it either and just focus on the Wsox winning is all I care about.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 21, 2012 -> 07:33 PM) Very sad stuff. I respect Dick Allen's position on this matter. Sad. Have to remember when it comes to witnesses they are crap and are the main reason innocent people go to jail, it is pretty clear Myers did hit his wife but we don't know all the circumstances around it. I don't think he is a stand up human being by any means, I'm not going to buy any merchandise with his name on it, but without knowing about everything I'm not going to call him a scumbag. I don't see how people love AJ and hate Myers though, wasn't AJ the guy when someone asked if he was ok after being hit in the nuts... he responded by hitting the guy in the nuts and asking him if it feels ok?

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 21, 2012 -> 05:29 PM) How casual are we going? A few of my friends knew Spider-Man and the X-Men. Captain America and Iron Man was pushing it. I think most guys in the 18-35 or whatever the main target age group all know SpiderMan and X-Men from watching cartoons as kids at the very least and knew about Captain America. Iron Man and Thor I don't think the casual fan knew their storyline but have heard about them.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 21, 2012 -> 02:50 AM) I suspect the soft juries of today will let him off on insanity. So he'll just be in a minimum security hospital the rest of his life, right? Are those places safe from escape? How insane can this guy be if he was a brilliant student?? It angers me that he's gonna get off on insanity. The f***er knew what he was doing. He ordered all that ammo online. If I was a jury member he'd fry because I'd never let him off on insanity. The man ordered the ammo, compiled all the ammo. Set up booby traps in his apartment to kill more people. Police likely. Premeditated murder. But he'll make something up that he had voices in his head and the case will be so well publicized the jury will go soft again like Casey Anthony/OJ and let him sit in a hospital the rest of his life. You assume soooooo much. The insanity plea hardly ever works the % is incredibly small and really those places can be worse than the prisons. This guy is going to spend rest of his life in prison there is no doubt about that.... and given his crime it will probably be solitary which is almost worse than torture.

QUOTE (Carter224 @ Jul 21, 2012 -> 01:23 AM) If you would have just told me the spoilers I wouldn't have wasted the time to go see it. No joke, the ending of this movie ruined the entire movie for me. The ending was very disappointing but I think you are stretching it a bit with ruined the entire movie. Overall it was well done just didn't live up to the hype or the quality of the first 2.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 20, 2012 -> 11:41 PM) My point was that I normally don't hop in a thread and declare BEST MOVIE EVER. I am declaring best movie ever. Ok, wasn't sure.... but in that case I disagree 100% and I think this was the worst movie in the series (still a good movie) and nothing about it deserves any Oscar nominations whatsoever.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 20, 2012 -> 10:35 PM) I am very good at keeping perspective on movies. The Dark Knight Rises very well might be the best movie I have ever seen. It's sheer scale makes TDK look like child's play. I have no idea how anyone could complain about that movie. It was absolute perfection; and that's from a Bat-Fanatic. Are you being sarcastic with your posts I can't tell. Especially this one those statements don't really belong together.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 20, 2012 -> 09:33 PM) Are you serious? So in Arizona, had the guy not set off the tear gas, he probably would have been killed before killing or injuring many at all? I was thinking about that. Too bad that's not our country. Our country is to now find out everything we can about the gunman and they'll tell his story over and over and over on TV, just like Casey Anthony. Those who follow this case will know everythign about this guy. All I know is he's an asshole. I don't know how deranged he is. Seriously. Maybe he is mad out of his mind, but at the present time I just think he's a punk who wanted to kill a lot of people. To you attorneys out there ... I know you have a job to do, but isn't it difficult to represent this guy in the upcoming trial he'll have? I mean how in the hell do you proclaim this guy's innocence? He was caught in the parking lot after doing it. Is the attorney actually going to say, "My client is innocent of all charges?" I hate everybody today after this. Senseless deaths piss me off so badly. I think the only defense would be to argue insanity or if there is a death penalty in Colorado try to get a life sentence....

QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 20, 2012 -> 09:56 AM) The secret to major box office success is to get both sexes to want to watch the film. That was my main point. And my point was women didn't see Thor because the actors were good looking, especially actors that were not popular before the movie.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 20, 2012 -> 02:24 PM) I haven't seen it, but a movie being "predictable" re: the ending has got to be one of the sillier things. You could tell me the ending of a movie, whether the movie sucks or not is determined outside of that knowledge. It only ruined the movie by taking away what would be a perfect ending to the Batman series. The movie was good just when compared to the first 2 it doesn't stand up.

I don't care about their personal opinions, if they refused to serve gay or muslim or whatever it would be different. That being said I don't see why people love them so much in first place don't find their food any good.

QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 06:01 PM) Women enjoy Chris Hemsworth and Idris Elba more than a talking raccoon and tree. The main audience for these movies are guys and I had to google Idris Elba so I don't think most women know who he is. Plus Thor was really Hemsworth first movie that would get him noticed. Thor is just a better character and plays on ancient mythology which has always been popular in movies and tv shows. Nobody has heard of any of these galactic superheros and Antman and they don't have the draw as guys like Thor/IronMan/Spiderman/etc.

I have to say, this was definitely the worse one of the 3. Bane is definitely a badass but after the movie dragged on for awhile the end was super rushed and yeah the ending was very predictable as soon as Alfred told Wayne his little dream.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 11:49 AM) I miscounted flipping back and forth from the 1st and second half on the ESPN page, i admit that. But Caulfield loves his 11 game game counts The yahoo standings gives you last 10 record if you don't want too count.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 11:20 AM) This is Soxtalk's 10th year. I think we can safely quit the "WSI" scare tactic. I don't know what that means I used WSI as something not to be but last time the mods "cracked down" on the little stuff it felt the same.
-
Its a message board if death threats happen or a fight gets to point of ridiculousness can see admin intervening but if it's over small stuff going to feel too much like WSI and not worth being a participant.

QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 11:12 AM) This superteams trend sucks for the NBA and their fans, pretty soon they'll be 4 or 5 really stacked teams and a bunch of overmatched teams. So much for parity. If the Howard trade to Lakers happen really only 3 teams be worth watching and that's assuming Harden and Ibaka improve for the Thunder.

Hawk was pissed that game Arnie Munoz pitched, he was going on and on how we hear about how good these kids are and none of them are as advertised.

Who are the top 3 pitchers and hitters in the MLB today?
GoodAsGould replied to SOXOBAMA's topic in The Diamond Club
Hitters: Kemp/McCutchen/Votto Pitchers: Weaver/Verlander/Price If they keep it up next year would have to find a spot for Trout/Sale on the list. -
QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 06:44 AM) saw that dwight is ready to commit to an extension with the lakers, so assuming he goes to la(would be awesome): lebron/wade/bosh or kobe/dwight/gasol/nash? I think next year might be the first I don't even watch till the Finals.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 18, 2012 -> 01:51 PM) A sellout should give the Sox more incentive to have more half-price nights. Fans are speaking. The Royals had a huge crowd for dollar hot dog and drinks/fireworks night, bad crowds for all other games. Sox half price night ... sold out? Cmon baseball, make it affordable. I was talking to a huge Sox fan buddy of mine in Chicago. He said he simply won't pay the 24 buck parking or whatever it is. Will only go to games if he can get around that, etc. And he makes a good wage. The Wsox have half price day every Monday I think and they used to have dollar dogs on Mon/Tues I think not sure on that. The one thing they do need to do is work on getting the parking tickets lowered they are ridiculously high.
