QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Aug 5, 2012 -> 10:11 AM) Bones said he would never fight Silva because of their friendship.. I just don't see GSP getting past the 3rd round with Silva. If anything it's silva saying that, jones didn't care about fighting rashad Evans back when they were super close.

I haven't paid to see a fight for a long time, this one I'd even pay a 10$ cover to see.

QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 5, 2012 -> 09:24 AM) Murray looks possessed Murray looks great and Federer looks bad isn't a combo for success. Might not be an open event but if murray hangs on he will have something Federer and djokovic both don't have. -
QUOTE (farmteam @ Aug 4, 2012 -> 02:20 PM) Blasphemous! I went to Sox-Twins game this past Wednesday and sat way up in the left-field home run porch area (it was a free ticket, no complaining from me). Despite being high up it was still a great view and I didn't feel that far away at all. Yeah, I just think its the type of stadium that has no bad seat, it made me jealous. I had a job interview up there too so hoping many more games in future, next time definitely going to try the specialized beer.

I think the fact ledger died before the movie came out made it just unfair to compete against, he did a great job but add in fact of real life events it kind of immortalized the role.

Hoping Murray shows up against Federer for the final, just want him to win something already so I can root primarily for Nadal again. -
If you want just real news the local channels aren't the way to go, CNN or BBC don't give you any silly stories but I find them boring as hell to watch.

QUOTE (Tex @ Aug 3, 2012 -> 06:50 PM) I agree. I was pointing out that innocent people may find themselves being investigated, the reasons may. or may not, be legitimate. When we allow cops and prosecutors to act as if they always know the person who did it, and to act accordingly, we are getting ourselves in a bad situation. Right, I was just trying to make the point that most of the innocent people that end up in prison wouldn't be your everyday person. They very likely have a criminal record in the past which was part of the reason they became a suspect or were involved with some real shady stuff.

Is it wrong that while Im rooting for USA in everything pretty much I actually want Serena to lose? -
QUOTE (Tex @ Aug 3, 2012 -> 11:15 AM) Walking while black, speaking Spanish . . . Plenty of black people and Spanish speakers that never have problems with the law. Now maybe there is a racist cop/sheriff that harasses them but we are talking about prison not jail.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 2, 2012 -> 09:24 AM) Way too many 9's, at least for this country. The "Innocence project" alone has in the past few years freed enough people that you can't go past 99.9999%, (292/310 million). And that's 1 group, looking only at felony convictionss. Ok, I was exagerating a bit obviously but did you ignore the first part... usually there is a reason these people are suspects in the first place.

Federer and Del Potro might be screwing each other the way this match is going, is the finals tomorrow or do they get a day off? -
QUOTE (Y2HH @ Aug 2, 2012 -> 08:58 AM) If he did it, you mean. Nothing like giving him the fair trial we promise. Not to say I believe he's innocent, either...but this is just another case of guilty until proven...guilty? I don't think there is any doubt he did it, regardless of the outcome of trial. But, whether he is found guilty or not I can't say. Also on another point usually the "innocent" people that go to jail for crimes they didn't commit are career criminals in the first place and put themselves in a position to be a suspect. Not that it is ok for anyone to serve time for a crime they didn't do, but if you live a law abiding life you aren't going to be put in that situation 99.99999999% of the time.

QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Aug 2, 2012 -> 08:53 AM) I think this guy is almost certainly responsible for the death of two people. I also hope he walks. No, that won't serve "justice" in the pure sense of the word, but there are many, many issues with this Savio prosecution that should give folks who value justice pause, including two huge tactical "mistakes" by the prosecution in the first two days. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/b...0,1805576.story To me, this guy is to criminal law what Larry Flynt was to the First Amendment; if the law will protect scumbags like them, it will protect all of us as well. Why don't you go ahead and explain that all to the family members of his last 2 wives.

QUOTE (BlackBetsy @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 07:10 PM) This is soooooo depressing. The Sox system seems to be getting worse. Hardly, we actually have some prospects that if they hit their ceilings can be very good players, they just happen to be at the lower levels currently for the most part.

This makes me wonder, why would Pokerstars do this unless having knowledge that online poker will be returned to the United States in the near future. If that happens I'll be ecstatic.
-
Have to say the Twins stadium was awesome, you feel close to the field even when walking around the area behind the seats on the lower deck and despite being a last place team or near it the fans made it nearly a full park. Also, people would wait until in between batters to sit down which doesn't seem to happen at the Cell the last few times I've been. I definitely would want to go again sometime if I'm ever anywhere close.

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jul 29, 2012 -> 09:20 AM) I would add that in addition to the really slow guys, there are a couple really fast guys like De Aza and Rios, and they have turned a few of those doubles into triples. We have 2 really slow guys in Konerko and AJ. The rest are fast enough to hit doubles on a regular basis.

QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Jul 29, 2012 -> 12:11 AM) It might be the worst now since most of them are up here. This time he depleted the farm by bringing them up. Outside of Reed/Viciedo the guys called up were not that highly rated, although Santiago/Jones can definitely be legit bp arms. Our minors right now have a lot of interesting guys in lower levels though, Sanchez/Castro only ones worth noting in AA/AAA

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 28, 2012 -> 11:57 PM) I know he played well tonight, but I'm amazed at how many supporters Escobar has in this thread. Anyways, I now believe this is the most talented Sox team since the 2006 squad, assuming Sale and ADA are/stay healthy. I should clarify when I was sad about Escobar it was because of how hard he was taking being traded not his on-field value.
-
QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 28, 2012 -> 11:48 PM) No one predicted Liriano but my scenario about an experienced AL pitcher and not hurting the future of the team was right. Since I just called Liriano earlier today, my next prediction will be adding Chase Utley but that is kind of pushing it haha

I'd be find with Kuhn getting the call for a month, he might only end up playing 1 game. Once September comes around we can bring up saladino and another warm body more than enough to backup ss position. I really wonder if KW has one more trick up his sleeve though.
-
The Escobar stuff is making me a bit sad after I was initially super pumped about the trade. The real question is does KW have one move left?
-
QUOTE (Wanne @ Jul 28, 2012 -> 10:19 PM) You almost have too. Makes zero sense to bring up Morel like somebody said earlier...you need a backup SS. Rather not throw Gordo over there... Didn't jermaine dye play ss for us one game in Oakland, sign him up!
-
I have to give KW much props, three trades and we gave up nothing.
