Is Marte assured off the ALCS Roster?
GoodAsGould replied to White Sox Josh's topic in Pale Hose Talk
If I had my way B-mac makes it over Marte next series... and in the WS if he is healthy enough just to make an ab Frank Thomas makes it over Blum... he can pull a Kurt Gibson for us -
With all his different arm angles, the leg kick, and the way he can change speeds.... El Duque should be able to be dominant out of the pen.

At this point if it was possible id rather have Arnie Munoz as our 2nd lefty rather than Marte. -
How does this affect PK contract?

QUOTE(Sox Hustler @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 05:24 AM) I am not sure who is a FA from out pitching staff this year, I know all of our SP's are locked up for at least one more year. With that said, can't they just put El Duque in a box and put him away until playoff time next season? Crede and Garland are arb. eligible and I think AJP can be a free agent. Politte may be a FA too. I know for a fact Politte has an option that will be picked up and im pretty sure we control the rights for AJP next season 2. -

QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 05:27 AM) you know how they used to say just say no to drugs. Ozzie needs to say "just say no to Marte." It seems to me Ozzie's biggest flaws as a manager is the mis-use of Marte and his 2 much faith in Freddy. Im glad at least 1 of them will be gone and Freddy is still good I just think Ozzie has a little bit 2 much faith in him sometimes. -

QUOTE(redandwhite @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 05:27 AM) I don't know about dump, but some Yankees become Red Sox, and some Red Sox become Yankees, just as some White Sox players become Indians or Royals or whatever it may be. The team that picks up the Red Sox trash would be the Cubs. One year it was Damon Buford, Darren Lewis, Troy O'leary, Ron Mahay... who am I forgetting. Two more, ah go look it up on baseball reference if your interested. How about Mueller, Bellhorn, and Clement -

QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 05:15 AM) That would be a beautiful thing, but this is just one particular season, you know what I'm saying? Ain't we gonna need a s***load of cash to invest in pitching? I dunno, maybe I'm just being too conservative, but 12 freaking million per? If that is what this guy will demand, he can take a hike. If he had a good rest of the playoffs he very well may make that much money. Whatevr the case im sure he is going to leave on a positive note rather than Maggz and Clee. So if he does leave it will be nice to have a guy that leaves but still likes the franchise and fans like him. -

Yeah I understand if possible you want 2 lefties.... But when 1 of those lefties constantly cant get the job done vs lefties or righties it doesnt really help the team. The angels won the WS with the only lefty in their bullpen being Shoenweis and I think Cotts is better than him so we should be fine. -

I always thought he was one of the better leadoff hitters in the game and isnt he a fan favorite in Boston? -
QUOTE(aboz56 @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 02:31 AM) Umps are only allowed to work one series in the postseason, IIRC. So is there a chance we get the ump crew that we had for that Oakland A series?
-
QUOTE(aboz56 @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 02:18 AM) Best thing about it is that moron won't be calling anymore games the rest of the postseason. Why is that?

Hold on a Sec, this aint done yet

We really got a full roster this season it seems.... your only allowed to have 10 players activated at a time right? So assuming our starters are Hinrich,Gordon,Deng,Sweetney, and Chandler... that leaves Duhon, Basden, Pargo, Nocioni, Thomas, Songalio, Davis, Harrington and Allen... -
He really started to make it small for marte actaully... not defending Marte but he was getting squeezed.... I think Ozzie's complaining so loudly might of opened it a bit.
-
I voted Jose Contreras but Id like to change my vote to Ozzie Guillen
-
Yeah he was worth his contract just with his performance today... that being said im comfortable with Cotts, politte, Hermy, El Duque all as the setup guy. But if bases loaded and no outs... we know who to call . Also I think its pretty clear El Duque is going to keep his spot but what about Marte?
-
I picked Contreras because he kind of dictated how the series went... Good pitching > good hitting.

QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 09:26 PM) WTF is your problem? Im really starting to hate this board. I thought one of the rules was to treat everybody with respect even if you disagree with somebody. Oh he was just joking with you dont worry about it. On that other post maybe they were a bit rough on you but its a touchy subject and your view isnt a very popular one. -
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 07:07 AM) LOL. Really it's hard to expect a QB to come in even in his 2nd year and put up great numbers straight away. Look at Carson Palmer. He struggled early in his 1st season of starting (2nd year), and Cinci fans were calling for Jon Kitna to start. But look at Palmer now. A bit of short - term pain for long - term game. Palmer wasnt this bad and they arent asking much out of Losman. They want Willis McGahee to carry the load and like us have a good defense..... losman has just been terrible though every game.

QUOTE(Middle Buffalo @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 03:37 AM) I find it so hard to believe that someone associated with this team for 20+ years would stay away from them during the playoffs. This doesn't happen every year in Chicago, Hawk. I dont think he can stand being here but not announcing for them. Hawk loves the whitesox theirs no doubt about it...So im sure he had his reasons to go to Florida and im sure if we do make it to the series he will be back.
-
Well the few times he was given the money he made bad choicies... Vaugn, Alomar, Canseco, McGriff.... im sure there were some others...
-
OW!... any news on if he is going to be able to come back from that?
-
It seems like we have a lot of new guys coming in and than AD 2.... With all the new people I hope Basden still makes the team i liked from what I saw from him.

QUOTE(redandwhite @ Oct 6, 2005 -> 03:06 AM) money won't be a factor. Dustin Pedroia, making the league minimum, will be the starting second baseman next season. Of course Hanley Ramirez is another option. Actually im pretty sure Renteria said he would move to 2B for Hanley didnt he. Anyways we arent saying Graffy is a bad defender because that 1 error... he did used to be on the white sox and we do know more about him than you would think.... because regardless of your name its clear you only follow one sox.

QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Oct 5, 2005 -> 04:38 PM) There's no way you can blame those records solely on Crawford. Exactly maybe it was because Curry and Chandler finnally stepped up. Or how about Gordon leading the way to all those wins for us in the 4th quarter. Or maybe the overall play of Deng during the season and maybe Nocioni had a little to do with it. Maybe Skiles did his best coaching job yet and deserves some praise.... but no.. In Qwerty's world the only reason we got better is because we lost Crawford.
