  1. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 03:19 PM) Early in the game he had about 3 good breaking balls right on the outside corner to righthanders. He didn't get the call. He never really went back there. Was it a strike? not for McCarthy. Greg Maddux would have gotten that call all night though. Well to be fair Maddux earned that call, Its not like his 1st year in the majors he would get all the calls he does now, same thing with Frank I havent watched recently been real busy but in the past a lot of times he would get the inside strike called a ball and than the next guy les say konerko doesnt.
  2. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 12:14 AM) Not at all, its how I stumbled upon Fabio Castro a few years back. I saw the name, had no idea who he was and started laughing, than looked at the numbers and was like holy hell this guy is kicking butt. lol same with me, Im like that name is awesome than I realized he was a legitimate prospect so It made it twice as awesome.
  3. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 11:38 AM) "..........the sox don't need a 5th starter" ???? not until the all star break at least, which at that time hopefully El Duque and Marte will be healthy enough to return and walker and jenks prob go back down.
  4. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 01:32 AM) Korean Johnny Depp. did that dude ever sign with a team or no? I was looking forward to him.
  5. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 12:04 AM) That team would struggle to win it all. the team is good but you could do better than tinsley as backup pg, hell put Wade there.
  6. I kind of start giving prospects notice once they reach low a, and than when they get to AA thats when I really really follow them especially thanks to BHAM and all his awesome recaps. A couple of prospects I hope to see in AA next year would be Gio, Broadway, and Fabio Castro.... and a course Ryan Sweeney.
  7. QUOTE(GreenSox @ Jul 4, 2005 -> 11:50 PM) How do you know that he's "just having a slow start"? Wasn't he recently injured? How many "stud" years as he had in his career? Why should we pay a Johnson/Schilling price for Jason Schmidt? It wont cost a Johnson/Schilling price.... those 2 guys would of involved Garland and for Schmidt we are only losing prospects.... and prospects are just that, prospects.
  8. Jeckle you obviously dont know much about Schmidt if you are this much against him, the guy is a total stud and is just having a slow start, but b4 his last outing he had like 3 pretty dominating starts in a row I think it was like 21-24 innings only giving up 3 runs..... Contreras has been better than expected but as of late he has been very bad and for sure he is not a playoff pitcher. Schmidt on the other hand is a proven veteran and not only a playoff pitcher but a playoff ace. You worry about the future so much but i never see you on the future sox board I think you are overating some of our prospects.
  9. I asked this b4 and I dont think it was answered but anyways how fast do you guys think this guy can advance through our system? If he keeps the way he is hitting up now is a promotion to Low A in his future this season or is he basicly going to stay in Bristol for remainder of season no matter what.
  10. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 4, 2005 -> 11:12 PM) Verlander can throw as hard as anyone else in the majors, save perhaps his mate Kyle Farnsworth. He's gonna be good and the Tigers will be too next year. They still need one more starter, if they can get a guy like AJ Burnett than Ill consider them maybe the best team in the central if healthy. A course that could all change if other teams add other players, but I think the tigers are just 1 good pitcher away from greatness.
  11. I think Verlander is going to be a real good one, him and Bonderman can be a dangerious 1-2 punch for many years to come.
  12. I think this is John Danks fault, if he hadnt already got a 2 million plus contract b4 Jordan maybe Jordan would of skipped college to get some money, but now his family is obviously secure financially with the 1st danks contract.
  13. QUOTE(qwerty @ Jul 4, 2005 -> 07:25 AM) .294 average- .308 obp ( five walks?)- .455 slugging, and a total ops of .763 for eight million dollars? Pierzynski's ops stands at .744 and is making 5.75 million less this year. Well like i said he is playing hurt...... AJ is healthy and he is striking out more than ever before and his avg is way below his career avg...
  14. QUOTE(BHAMBARONS @ Jul 4, 2005 -> 01:56 AM) Nice outing by Tracey tonight.... never saw 97 though. Where did you see that reading Tom? Honel had a radar gun behind the plate tracking the pitches when I am sitting in my normal seat I use the Parks gun. But where I was at tonight I couldn't see the gun and had to depend on Kris. What is your take on Delmon, The Barons have done well against him and Dukes both. I think thats directed to Rex but my take on Delmon is he is going to be a star in the league. He is one of my favorite prospects to watch and he will make his brother Dmitri seem like he never existed
  15. QUOTE(chi-guy2 @ Jul 4, 2005 -> 04:31 AM) any chance i can change "benchwarmer" to "My skills include: Dance Skills and Posting Skills Gosh!!" lol dont lie you cant dance if your life depended on it and posting lol you dont even have as much as me, you deserve that bench warmer tag
  16. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 06:27 PM) IROD is a classic case of no more steriods = end of career. As for the Tigers, they should have a couple of seasons where they finish over .500 before they run their mouths. Are you crazy, first of all IROD was never a power hitter and its not proven he has done steroids. And right now he is still having a very good year offensively even though he is playing hurt and with pain.
  17. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 07:33 PM) Haha, just imagine yourself in a line to get the jersey signed. There's Politte, Marte, and Walker at the table. Cliff and Damaso sign it and just as Walker reaches to sign it, you pull it away and say "no thanks." That would be hilarious. Wow that is very very cruel lol, Idonno if he was at the table and went to go start signing it I would let him, I know he isnt that good but hell he is good enough to reach the majors at some point in his career and he really seems enthusiastic about this team wasnt their an article about him being so happy being a white sox somewhere. As for Elo yes he was awesome in 2003 and he seemed like he was great with the fans, the only thing that turned me off some was when he went to NY and said maybe he will finally get some run support. Which at the time he had the best run support in the league.. if not the best top 3.
  18. Im starting to think it wont happen, Schmidt got bombed today and by one scouts statement he obviously isnt near what he used to be... Giants overused 2 great pitchers Nen and now Schmidt.....
  19. maybe go to arbitration and from arbitration work on a contract extension.
  20. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 04:41 PM) No doubt the Sox would be willing to sign Garland to a 3-year contract. The question is would Garland except such a contract? I say he'd rather go to arbitration and take a one year deal worth whatever the arbitrator feels he's worth. Didn't an arbitrator give Ben Davis $1mil last offseason? I think we just gave him the 1 million, and it has proven to be a waste of a million.
  21. I really hope we can tie up Garland long term, I want him and Buehrle pitching for the Sox for most of their careers. I know this is our season but this offseason I think has the possibility to be a very exciting and I think we might see a trade or 2 and hopefully with the loss of some payroll resign Garland long term too.
  22. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 07:16 AM) Man, it's gonna be beautiful when Chandler is contending for the Defensive Player Of The Year award on the strength of insane shot-altering ability, and gunning for a rebounding title. I could see it now, it's coming y'all. Whether it's next year, the year after, whatever. f*** all of that playoff talk...it's pretty damn obvious that the refs weren't even letting the dude play. Tyson is a very clean defender. I was heated after the vast majority of those calls were made, but I understod. He's still a baby in NBA terms, and he just doesn't have that league-wide respect, let alone playoff respect. I know Chanlder other than Deng was my favorite bull last season. But I just think on this team that Curry is the more valuable player to us because he is our only big guy who can score really with Chandlers offense being jams, AD being old and inconsistent, and Othella gets the majority of his offense from that jump shot thing he does.
  23. QUOTE(Be Good @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 03:33 PM) I just checked the Box Score and it said attendence was 45k. I was very shocked Oakland never draws well. B4 you draw conclusions do a little research and realize it was firework night there for 4th of July and the game b4 they had 15,000 including around that much for the seattle series 2. Oakland hasnt even drawn well when they have been winning the division the past few years.
  24. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 06:58 AM) He was making a crack about Gammons being gay. How could he do that if he doesnt believe in gay people
  25. Crede has been having a pretty decent season actually for all the hate he gets, hate included from me, well not real hate just wanting of a replacement. his HR numbers and RBI total are good for a #8 hitter.
