QUOTE(Brian @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 04:13 PM) The only experience I have with the War of the Worlds phenomenon is I heard the radio broadcast in junior high for some class. Sorry I'm not as educated as you. Well the movie was directed to the people that have either seen number 1 or read the book. And a huge part of the movie is how it ends. And than you 2 to come up all in here going oh the ending sucked blah blah blah.... The ending was one of the best parts.

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 05:22 PM) just like the cuban influence has helped Contreras' control issues? He has been a lot better than he has in years passed. And Perez is already ahead of where Contreras is... look at Perez last year. I think Contreras problem is in Cuba the guys would swing at balls and here not so much. Perez on the other hand is young and all of his professional career has been in the states so he can attack hitters.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 05:18 PM) Perez has nasty stuff. McClendon and Pittsburgh have done s*** for him. I think a change of scenerey where he is really wanted and supported would helo him a lot and propel him to the next level. Not only that but AL hitters havent seen his slider or slurve dont know what it is but its downright nasty and thats what he was last year down right nasty. Id kill to have Perez on our team where I think he could be a star. Not only a change of scenery but being here would help especially since all the latin influence with Ozzie and the gang.

I can just tell you what happened dont know bout the article... anyways he was warming up in the bullpen than on his last warmup pitch he sprained his ankle or something... Than being pissed he threw his glove down some steps and while walking down the steps hurt it even more. Just another little sidenote the guy who had to come in because of Wunsch injury ended up giving a HR to Helton

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 05:15 PM) El Duque will probably be the one to stay from the Cuban duo because of Dookies playoff experience and success. Also the fact I think it helps Contreras to have El Duque here more than it helps El Duque to have Contreras.

QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 05:07 PM) We have got to stop having all this good news about the prospects, it will ruin quickman's day for sure. Jerry Owens looks like he's capable of being a 4th/5th OF guy. Speed and on base ability, love it. I was actually hoping he would be our future leadoff man... a Podsenick in grooming.

Who cares where the offense comes from... basicly only difference in that lineup is insert Anderson lose Konerko.... and Konerko isnt as big of a loss as some might think he is.
-
QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 03:49 PM) If this happens, who's to say there won't be another move? I bet a package of Zach Day and B-Mac can get something pretty good in return.

I got to level 2 and decided im a dumbass because I dont get it.

Harris thinks he should play everyday.

QUOTE(Hanky Panky @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 03:40 PM) Has anyone ever talked to Willie in person? He is such a hick. He can't even speak right. Oh wait, he's from Cairo--that's Cairo, GA. Dont make fun of him he is the only player other than Jackie Robinson from there!! -
QUOTE(JDsDirtySox @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 03:40 PM) How about: Nats Get: Preston Wilson White Sox Get: Zach Day Rockies Get: JJ Davis(from Nats), Willie Harris, and Jeff Bajenaru (from Sox) The only thing holding up the trade with the Nats is the issue of money. So im guessing we either have to give them a good prospect or pay some money for Wilson's contract.

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 03:30 PM) IF Rowand continues to be a pop-gun hitter, he has no value as a RFer. He needs to put up numbers like he did last year to be a decent option at the corner OF position. He's only passable now because he's playing a premium defensive position, and doing so well. Podsenick and Dye play our corner OF spots...... Is Rowand a downgrade offensively from Dye? Really who cares where the offense comes as long as the offense comes... here would be my team's batting order. LF: Scott Podsenick 2B: Tad Iguchi RF: Aaron Rowand DH: Frank Thomas 1B: Jermaine Dye C: AJ Pierznski 3B: Joe Crede CF: Brian Anderson SS: Juan Uribe And I dont really see a drop off from runs in this lineup compared to our current one. We would basicly lose Konerko and while he has 50ish RBI's he hasnt exactly been good just has had many opportunities.

QUOTE(Wedge @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 02:44 PM) Is Zach Day really that different from Jason Schmidt? Good numbers the past three seasons, struggling this year. Schmidt had dominating numbers... Zach Day had decent numbers but he was always inconsistent... Like I said reminds me a lot like Garland before this year.
-
QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 02:15 PM) I am not all that familiar with Day, but I'm not real impressed with what I see. I hope Kenny's getting more out of this deal if he's sending both cash and prospects. I just dont see anyone on the rockies or nationals that would really help this team. I mean Nationals arent going to give anything away on their major league team because they are in a playoff race and the rockies just dont have anything that could help us.
-
QUOTE(Al Lopez's Ghost @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 02:12 PM) Thanks. I just looked at Day's stats. Exactly why would we want him? Day reminds me of Garland before this season.

Besides, Playboy aint bad, there are much worse skin mags to have your name associated with exactly playboy isnt that bad, all they do is pictures... now if she did more than just the pictures... than she might be nice to look at but marry

QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 12:43 PM) Personally I don't think Anderson is any better in CF than Rowand. Well I think Anderson is a little better, but just as importantly Rowand being a RF before would probably make a better RF than Anderson would as well. I have to say even though his ceiling isnt as high as Chris Young or Sweeney.... Anderson is one of our prospects im really really looking forward 2... he was the main reason I didnt sweat losing Jeremy Reed.

QUOTE(beck72 @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 12:29 PM) I'll be the first to pose a question or two. So here goes: 1] how would you feel about a trade involving basically, Omar Vizquel and Juan Uribe? 2] Would it take say a bullpen arm like Bajenaru along with Uribe to make it worth SF's while? 3] Would SF even want Uribe [though getting a 25 yr old who can start at both SS and 2B is hard to find]? I dont think we would trade just for Vizquel, Only way we get him in my opinion is if we also get Schmidt which than would involve much more. But since Schmidt hasnt impressed scouts at all and the giants asking price... I dont see a trade happening with the Giants at all. Id like KW to sell the farm for a real ace though. Find out what it would take to get guys like Halladay, Oswalt, possibly Rogers, Zito, Burnett, Sheets, Oliver Perez, Vazquez, and Odalis Perez. Some of those pitchers would be really hard to get but if any of those teams would be willing to deal do whatevr it takes to get them. Halladay and Sheets are very unlikely with Sheets just signing a contract but hey stranger things have happened. And I know for a fact Oliver Perez isnt untouchable due to the fact I think Ken Rosenthal or whatevr said the only 2 untouchables for the pirates are Jason Bay and Jack Wilson... might of been another but wasnt Perez.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 03:56 AM) Some are educational too and ALL incorporate safety and fair chase. Fair Chase? .... Fair would be if the deer got a gun to shoot back with lol All aside I dont mind hunters and all as long as it isnt an endangered species but the tv shows of hunting and fishing are extremely BORING

Weird I didnt know the Nationals had J.J. Davis... wasnt he a pirates top prospect not 2 long ago.

07/08/2005 10:50 AM ET Rogowski slugs way to Star of Day Casey Rogowski's first-inning homer got the slugfest going as Birmingham went on to beat Huntsville, 19-15, on Thursday night at Davis Municipal Stadium. Rogowski led the Barons' 22-hit output with a 4-for-6 performance, driving in a game-high six RBIs and scoring three times. His big night also earned him the MiLB.com "Star of the Day." Rogowski, a lefty-swinging first baseman from Redford, Mich., homered to center with two down in the opening frame off Ryan Costello. A single to center in the fourth drove in another run, and a base hit to left field in the seventh plated two more Barons. Rogowski capped off his night with another hit, a two-out line-drive single to center in the eighth that broke a 15-15 tie. He scored on the next batter as Josh Fields homered. Birmingham starts a four-game series with the BayBears at 8 p.m. ET on Friday at The Hoover Met. Huntsville travels to Pearl, Miss., for a four-game set against the Braves, opening with an 8:05 p.m. game Friday. QUOTE(PutItOnTheBoard @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 07:58 AM) i have no respect for people who arent loyal to their team....people who hop on and off badwagons make me fuccin sick to my stomach Sports while they are our lives doesnt mean they have to be everybodys....The casual fan watches to be enjoyed and a course it would be hard to enjoy a team that sucks so when we do bad you wont see them.

QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 08:33 AM) Jude Law falls under the "didn't meet his potential" category. He was such a pussy in "Enemy at the Gates" he almost spoiled the whole movie. are you kidding me? That movie was great, that has always been one of my all time favorite movies to watch.. well favorite war movie anyways....
