ATO: Haigwood to Bham; Wing to WS; And More
GoodAsGould replied to Chisoxfn's topic in FutureSox Board
QUOTE(danman31 @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 07:05 AM) This means the Barons have 6 starters (Honel, Malone, Tracey, Phillips, Haeger, Haigwood) with Lubisich likely out for the year. Does this mean that Phillips or someone else is going up to Charlotte? Of all of the I hope Phillips is the one that gets promoted... Honel, Malone, and Tracey definitely need to all stay at AA and I dont know 2 much about Haeger or Haigwood but I know Phillips for the most part has dominated down there and I think has seen AAA action b4. -
QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 05:25 AM) Romero still has yet to tell us where the zombies came from. Since Night Of The Living Dead he has kept us in the dark with that one. Plus, this is the 4th film, I think he is hoping people would have done their homework by now. The basic stuff is there, not just for the diehard fans, but for everybody. Yes, you more or less need to have seen atleast one of the others to understand the basics, but there was no major plot point being carried over, aside from the dead have returned and that they are getting smarter. The getting smarter aspect was the entire film Day Of The Dead. Yeah but as a whole the zombies really didnt get smarter, it was one zombie that basicly led them all... and It doesnt even explain how the zombies become smarter, did something happen to it or what? And like ive said earlier the one zombie was leading the way but he was never shot or anything is kind of bs and if they had a vehicle so powerful why not wipe out the zombies in the first place and why have only 1. Also the zombies walked really slow but somehow they were catching up to people and owning them, in reality they prob wouldnt of caught any in the mall until the end when they were all trapped at the fence. Basicly the whole story sucked for the film and nothing really made sense, also the characters werent nearly as good as they were in past films and than the ending was the definite worse. The zombies are just looking for a place to live so lets not kill them? Even though they just killed thousands of humans and took away the human's home.

thats great to hear, Im not a big basketball fan in general but im a huge bulls fan and loved watching this team play during the season, since i didnt get cable until towards the end I would even go to my friends house to watch them play when they were on cable.

QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 03:42 AM) I know it's early yet but if one thing stands out about a successful 2005 White Sox team its gonna be this guy. Willie Harris stealing 60 bases?
-
that salvador sanchez dude how quickly will he be promoted, he seems like he is such a stud and has hit in almost every game. Also im very pleased with the Honel game he seems to be getting back on track which is good because he is one of my favorite prospects Also anyone know anything about Fabio Castro how quickly can he move up the system he is another guy I like to watch.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 03:31 AM) Yeah next year he's Arb. eligable. Just saying if he wins like 22 games this year. He'll make more money than he's worth in arbitration. Nah arbitration wont be 2 bad, he will be due for a big raise but not as high as you think.
-
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 03:24 AM) Beware a player on his contract year. *cough*Beltre*cough* isnt garland due for arbitration at the end of the season not end of his contract?
-
Well as far as his other movies are concerned they were great, I mean he was the one who really started the zombie movie madness and his other movies were awesome...... but this one the characters werent that great and the whole movie just was done kind of poorly, also for the not diehard fans it doesnt even tell you how the zombies came about just said they came basicly. Also the main zombie was always in the front but never got shot or anything? And 1 vehicle being so powerful it can take out the whole city and basicly the whole zombie infestation? Why not just kill all the zombies in the town in the 1st place?
-
I think that kid seriously over-reacted, its one thing walking home from a home game because you live relatively close by and well you should know your way home lol, its just plain stupid to walk home from an away game that is sometimes very far and not knowing how to get home..... dont mean to be mean but that kid obviously isnt the brightest of individuals.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 01:07 AM) You know Tyson out rebounded and out score both AD and Othella right? well Othella didnt do much but he wasnt given nearly as many minutes as Chandler and AD did what you would expect from him.

QUOTE(knightni @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 12:05 AM) The Pro Bowl is the worst All Star Game in professional sports. After the season is a bad idea; but in the NFL, it is necessary because of all the injuries. The only reason the pro bowl is worse is because they players basicly play touch football to prevent injuries, hell they could probably play without pads with how light the hits are. But as for after the season that is the best because to get in you have to have a great season from start to end not just a fluke half season.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 12:21 AM) Chandler was ineffective in the playoffs because Washington had 2 or 3 big men while we only had basically Chandler...this ended up putting Tyson in big foul trouble the whole series and limiting his minutes and hence his effectiveness. We'd have been no better with Curry...he's a worse defender than Chandler, and without the 2nd guy, we'd still have been outgunned in the middle. Either we need both or we need to find more firepower somewhere else. If we want to be a dominating team, we need both. only basicly Chandler? Have you forgotten our other 2 big men in Othella Harrington and AD who both played if as good or better than Chandler in the playoffs.... I agree we should sign both at all costs but if it was only 1 of the 2 the priority should be Curry as long as he is completely healthy.

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Jul 2, 2005 -> 05:46 PM) I was thrilled with George Romero and his 4th part with the wonderful Land Of The Dead, But man, this film just CRUSHED those other two films, and to say that about Land is HIGH praise!!! Sorry to hijack the thread a little but you liked Land of the Dead? That movie was flat out bad, I mean seeing zombies own people is cool but the actual movie was horrible especially the end when they decided not to kill the remaining zombies, that movie is no where close to as good as War of the Worlds... on a scale of 1 to 10 1 being the worse and 10 the best Land of the Dead 2-3 War of the Worlds 9-10 Star Wars Revenge of the Sith 7-8

first and foremost i hope we resign Curry and than Chandler in that order.... than if we have cap room and he wont cost much make an offer to Duhon..... I know a lot of people think Chandler is >>> Curry but in the playoffs if it was the other way around Chandler being injured and Curry healthy i bet we would of won that 1st series. Chandler for the most part was pretty ineffective during our little playoff run and while I like him more than Curry, Curry is far more valuable to this team.

i dont really pay much attention to the all star game but I have to say football has it best, play the game after the season where a player has to actually have a good season to get in not just a good half... but i guess they cant do that now since it decides who gets home field advantage..... Basicly you guys can all worry about the all star game i wont watch it, one game i will watch is the future star game or whatevr its called with Jenks and Chris Young.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 2, 2005 -> 10:43 PM) I'm excited about Rogo just for the fact I really believe him and Ross can do a fantastic job holding down first without pauly here next year or atleast I hope pauly is gone after this season. Wow I knew Chris Young was having a good stretch but didnt know how good, if he can keep his walk and k rate like this for the rest of the season that would be awesome because even if he hits for a lot of power i wouldnt be able to handle watching a guy who strikes out 30 plus times a month.

QUOTE(qwerty @ Jul 2, 2005 -> 08:39 PM) Ask around. He is an above average defender. I just thing if he comes here and you expect him to be a good defender your going to be dissapointed, because like i said I watch the mavericks when I get the chance and Ive never heard announcers say he is a good defender and I see him get burned on defense some, and my friend who watches them everyday says the same. Mavericks really only had 2 good defenders last year in Howard and Dampier.....

QUOTE(danman31 @ Jul 2, 2005 -> 07:51 AM) That's ridiculous. Gio has been hurt twice this year while BMac has already mowed through high A and AA (well maybe not mowed through AA, but succeeded in a short time), something Gio has not done. Add to that BMac has had 2 good starts in the bigs. Odds are most prospects from low A (I'll say Gio is low A because he hasn't proven anything in high A) don't do that well. B-Mac has been getting owned in AAA really bad and for the most part he has been getting really owned in the majors. And idonno if he is a little hurt or scared or whatevr but he doesnt look anywhere close to the pitcher he was in spring training(I know he wouldnt have the same stats but i mean of how he was using his pitches and his confidence) I guess i might be reaching a little saying Gio is the better prospect what I really mean is if he does make it I think he will be better than B-Mac is....

as our OF's go I know everyone seems to love Chris Young and everything, he kind of reminds me of Mike Cameron a bit... anyways although he is far from untouchable my favorite OF of our 4 would be Jerry Owens... I think he has Podsenick written all over him and we know how valuable a good leadoff man is. Best part is we basicly got him for free... claimed Escobar from the indians for nothing and traded him for owens.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 2, 2005 -> 01:33 AM) Typically I tab guys as players to watch in the lower levels, but I try not to get excited until they produce in AA. Once they prove they can play in AA, than I think its just a matter of time until they get their chance in the majors. AA is the level that shows you whose for real (in terms of prospects) and who isn't and than those real prospects will get their shot at the majors and see if they can cut it at that level. What happened to Arnie Munoz though But in all honesty im really excited about Gio and I think of him as a better prospect than B-Mac, also i do believe Munoz has a future in the bullpen

QUOTE(qwerty @ Jul 2, 2005 -> 04:46 AM) He is pretty good defensively actually. He can shut down most shooting guards and the smaller small forwards. Not from what I heard or have seen of him. My good friend who lives in texas a huge rangers and mavericks fan, i asked him to make sure and he also said that Finley wasnt a good defender.... and he see's them everyday.

QUOTE(qwerty @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 11:05 PM) This is true but what sucks is that raja bell is is off the market. We need another tall defensive minded veteran that can post up on the team ( no disrespect against basden). Looking more and more likely that finley could be had for the mle, so that could be another option. Michael Finley is defensive minded? Never knew shooting 3's helped your defense......

McCarthy to start on July 4th against the D-Rays
GoodAsGould replied to Jabroni's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(knightni @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 04:23 PM) Contreras is the new "Count of 3 and 2". McCarthy vs. the D'Rays... It should be another AAA-like start for him. Of course THAT theory went to hell vs. KC. :headshake thats because he was facing KC team that had been doing well offensively, they were hitting .300 plus for the month of june when B-Mac was going against them. -
QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 09:30 PM) Most of the stats between Halladay and Buehrle are so close they can switch in the course of a single start. By this time next week it's highly possible that Mark will lead in everything. I agree that Mark should/will get the nod because he is on the best team in baseball. He also got screwed out of at least two wins that I can remember when he let up 0 or 1 runs in 8 innings and got a no decision. That's awesome that he only has one loss to this point, and that says something about him as a pitcher this year. too close? Halladay has 19 K's more so unless Buehrle has a career K game that wont be close especially if Halladay has another start. Also Halladay has 5 complete games compared to Buehrle's 2. Also while their era is close 2.40 to 2.42 Halladay faces the Yankees, Orioles, and Boston offenses compared to Mark facing the Twins, Indians, and Detroit ones which none are as good offensively as the yanks, orioles, or boston.

QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 04:25 PM) I'm just going by the explanation given by "experts" as to why there was a lack of interest in IRod the last two times he hit free agency. They used this as the reason that nobody was biting on his contract demands. The accusations included calling mostly fastballs with runners on to increase his chances of throwing runners out, along with not studying game film. I obviously am not in the inside here and I am not sure of the validity of this argument. I just heard it repeatedly during his time on the market. I'm sure others here remember it. I think he mostly got the reputation of being a bad game caller because of all his time in texas. Which in honesty he wasnt calling bad games texas just didnt have any real good pitchers so instead of saying their SP sucked they went and blamed the C, and than he left and their starters still sucked. Than when in Florida Pudge handled the Marlins staff beautifully especially in the playoff's and all the starters had nothing but praise to give to him, Willis even said the reason for his success was because of Pudge. Now in Detroit all i hear is the starters praising him again, and with basicly same group of starters they improved greatly from there 2003 season to the 2004 season with Pudge. So basicly I think that the rumor of him being a bad game caller is just bs, there were rumors about AJ not being a good game caller at one time too, and look how much bs was that. And than Sandy Alomar was apposed to be a good game caller but I think except for Buehrle most of our pitchers did worse when he was calling the game.
